2. The coast guard was founded in 1790. It is 224 years old.

3. Fewer members than the NYPD cover 3.4 million miles of sea and coast daily.

4. On average they seize 169 pounds of marijuana and 306 pounds of cocaine every day. Thats $9,589,000.00 worth of drugs.

5. They have approximately 1400 boats. This does not include cutters, which are boats longer than 65 feet

6. They have approximately 210 airplanes and helicopters.

7.Golf legend Arnold Palmer served in the Coast Guard for three years.

8. Famous rock musician Tom Waits served before he turned to music.

9. Famous actor Jeff Bridges was a part of the Coast Guard Reserve at the age of 18. He served for eight years.
