An Informal Consultation &Three Preparatory Meetings on GGIM

Convened in 2009, 2010 and 2011 by UNSD in collaboration with UNCS

Need of global mechanism on geospatial information management supported

Preparation of a report on GGIM for ECOSOC initiated.

Resolutions(at 18th UNRCC-AP and 41st UN Statistical Commission)

A report should be prepared for ECOSOC on GGIM, includingthe possible creation of a UN forum on GGIM

Decision(by ECOSOC in July 2010)

Requests the Secretary-General to submit a report on GGIM to ECOSOC at its 2011 substantive session.
