Negative Interrogative

Didn’t you see Mary? Isn’t Ken coming? The negative interrogative is used when

the speaker expects or hopes for an affirmative answer: Haven’t you finished yet? Don’t you like my new dress? Can’t I stay up till the end of this program?

⇒ Yes, I am.

⇒ No, I’m not. Don’t you like your new CD?
