Is on Wednesday

night this year.

We are going to

cancel church

services that night.

3

1 Kings 18 1 And it came to

pass after many days, that the

Word of the LORD came to

Elijah in the third year,

saying, Go, shew thyself unto

Ahab; and I will send rain

upon the earth.

God could have spoken directly

to Elijah by His Holy Spirit.

Or, he could have sent an angel. After many days

4

2 And Elijah went to shew

himself unto Ahab. And

there was a sore famine in

Samaria.

God said, “Go.” Elijah went.He knew that Ahab and Jezebel wanted him dead.

Matthew 10 28 And fear not them which kill the

body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather

fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and

body in hell.

5

If common sense is

contrary to the Word of

God, it’s not good sense.

Simply believe and obey God’s Word.

In all things.

All the time.

6

3 And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the

governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the

LORD greatly: 4 For it was so, when Jezebel cut off

the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an

hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave,

and fed them with bread and water.)

Meanwhile back in Samaria:

7

The priests and the Levites were gone to Judah and

Jerusalem, but instead of them God raised up prophets,

who read and expounded the Word. They probably

were from the schools of the prophets, first set up by

Samuel. They had not the spirit of prophecy as Elijah,

but taught the people to keep close to the God of

Israel. These Jezebel sought to destroy.Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.

5 And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land,

unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks:

peradventure we may find grass to save the horses

and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts. 6 So they divided the land between them to pass

throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and

Obadiah went another way by himself.

Ahab had more interest in mules and horses

than he did in the souls of men.

Even his own soul.

9

7 And as Obadiah was in

the way, behold, Elijah met

him: and he knew him, and

fell on his face, and said,

Art thou that my lord

Elijah? 8 And he answered

him, I am: go, tell thy lord,

Behold, Elijah is here. 9 And he said, What have I

sinned, that thou wouldest

deliver thy servant into the

hand of Ahab, to slay me?

10

10 As the LORD thy God

liveth, there is no nation or

kingdom, whither my lord

hath not sent to seek thee:

and when they said, He is

not there; he took an oath of

the kingdom and nation, that

they found thee not. 11 And

now thou sayest, Go, tell thy

lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

11

12 And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone

from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry

thee whither I know not; and so when I come and

tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me:

but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.

Obadiah understood the Power of God.

Under natural circumstances, Elijah

could have easily been found.

He was at first hiding out near his home town.

God was protecting him with a cloak of invisibility.

12

13 Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel

slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an

hundred men of the LORD'S prophets by fifty in a

cave, and fed them with bread and water? 14 And

now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is

here: and he shall slay me.

Obadiah was assuring Elijah that he

truly loved the Lord.

He had served the Lord by saving

His prophets.

13

If you needed to defend your faith,

what evidence could your present?

Obadiah had hidden and fed the prophets.

We need to live our lives as sons and

daughters of The Most High God.

14

15 And Elijah said, As the

LORD of hosts liveth, before

whom I stand, I will surely

shew myself unto him to day. 16 So Obadiah went to meet

Ahab, and told him: and

Ahab went to meet Elijah.

Elijah assured Obadiah that he would be there

when Ahab came, so Obadiah went.

15

17 And it came to pass, when

Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab

said unto him, Art thou he that

troubleth Israel?

Ahab accepted no responsibility, but

blamed Elijah for the drought.

Few people admit that their own sins have

caused their troubles.

But we do cause most of our own troubles by

the way we live our lives.

16

18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but

thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have

forsaken the Commandments of the LORD, and

thou hast followed Baalim.

Sin is to blame for it all.Our nation is troubled with unemployment,

foreclosures, crime, disease, and poverty.

Sin is to blame for it all.

17

Sex is treated as recreation; people having sex with

whomever they will, whenever they will.

I learned at school recently that there are over

100,000,000 people with STD’s in the U.S.

That is 1/3 of the population.

Children having babies

that they can’t care for.

They’re not even old

enough to get a job.

18

Michael Brown was killed by a policeman one

night, but he was not on his way home from a

church after worship.

19

Unemployment, foreclosures, and poverty are

rampant in the U.S. right now.

So many kids reject education as a way up.

The government punishes businesses with high

taxes and severe regulations.

Sin is to blame for it all.

20

Our culture rejects the idea that actions always

have consequences -- and consequences are just.

The leaders in culture advocate simply

avoiding the consequences and all is well.

Leviticus 22:31 (TLB) "You must keep all of My

Commandments, for I am the Lord.

21

There is no such thing as a “no harm” sin.

Romans 6:23 (TLB) 23 For the wages of sin is

death, but the free gift of God is eternal life

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

If our nation would turn to God

God would heal our land.
