Commission for Environmental Cooperation of North America

The CEC is an international organization created by Canada, Mexico and the United States under the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC).

The Agreement complements the environmental provisions of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994.

Foster the protection and improvement of the environment [. . .] for the well-being of present and future generations; promote sustainable development based on cooperation and mutually supportive environmental and economic policies;

promote economically efficient and effective environmental measures;
