Background & Objectives English is taught as Literature in schools. Learners have no idea about Listening Skills. But, University prescribes development of Listening

Comprehension.

Objectives:Enable learners to Listen effectively to GIE.Enable them to use Bottom – up & Top – Down

technique.Enable them to listen to facial expressions.

Teacher’s Work:Setting up of Bottom – Up & Top – Down goals.Selecting popular animation films.Grading the targets and the task.Facilitating effective listening. Motivate, prepare & contextualize the learners. Distribution the Worksheets.

insight. Indian learners could immediately relate to the films.

Problems with Hollywood films:Learners could hardly relate to Hollywood films. Actions being fast paced, facts received are

fragmented.Dialogues are in American English not in GIE. Unable to listen to the content words.Context and emotional expression more alien.More noisy.

Advantages of Indian Animation Films:

No such problems with Indian animation films.Funny presentations spark the learner’s

imagination. Help the listeners to moderate their personal ego. Learners could remain free from emotional

disturbances.
