ICT Service Redesign 2012/13 Guide to adding users to the wireless guest network

28 August 2012

Individual accounts Step 1: Ensure each user who is going to access the wireless guest network has an individual account. Class accounts will not work. You can request either a single new account or multiple new accounts through BT.

• On the front page of the Orb, select ICT Rate Book (Learning and Teaching) in the Online directories box

• Select CF2038 “User Account – Multiple Users” or CF2034 “User Account – Add a New User

(Active Directory)”. CF2038 allows you to create up to 240 new accounts. The data can be exported from SEEMIS using a custom report.

Step 2: Add the new users to the establishment’s wireless-enabled group (School-WirelessOpenNetwork) through the Portal https://portal.ltad.ea.edin.sch.uk/ At the moment this can only be done one at a time but we are investigating ways to improve the management of users and devices on the wireless guest network.
