1 - Question & Answer
Addendum #1 Specifications deleted the delegated design requirement and noted the imminent issue of permit drawings. This implies that the drawings provided will be for permit submittal by the successful bidder. Friday we received plans & Calculations with notes addressing the need of “contractor delegated design”. Can you please clarify what the intent of the most recently released drawings are, if they are for permit submittal or if the successful bidder must develop their own permit drawings, hydraulic calculations, and permit submittal?
Permit submittal will be completed by the University. The contractor will be issued the permit for the work from DCA through Rowan.
2 - Question & Answer
The hydraulic calculations for the drawings issued under Addendum #1 may meet DCA standards, but they do not meet FM Global Standards and bid specifications for Margin of Safety in certain areas. FM and specifications call for 10% or 10psi margin of Safety, whichever is greater. Oak and Laurel Halls Level 3 and Attic do not meet this requirement. Will the FM standard and specification requiring 10% or 10psi safety margin, whichever is greater, be removed from the specifications or will a fire pump be required for this project?
There is no fire pump required for the project. FM design standard was met with the fire protection drawings submission to DCA.
3 - Question & Answer
If fire pumps are required to provide the higher margin of safety outlined in the specifications: Who is to provide for the additional electrical services and fire alarm work? Who will upgrade the fire alarm systems?
Any electrical or fire alarm work will be completed by University.
4 - Question & Answer
For existing pipe and soffiting to be demolished, who is performing the demolition work? Who will be providing sheetrock patching, painting, etc. required following the demolition work?
University will completed demolition work in coordination with successful sprinkler contractor.

G-7. CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH AND MAINTAIN ALL NECESSARY BARRICADES AROUND THE WORK AREAAND SHALL PROVIDE PROTECTION AGAINST WATER DAMAGE AND SOIL EROSION.
G-8. PURSUANT TO NJAC 5:23-2.21(e) OF THE NEW JERSEY UNIFORM CONSTRUCTION CODE, THE GENERALCONTRACTOR IS DESIGNATED AS THE "RESPONSIBLE PERSON IN CHARGE OF CONSTRUCTION" ANDTHE SITE SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBLE FOR CONSTRUCTION SITE SAFETY DURING THE COURSE OF SITEIMPROVEMENTS.
G-9. ALL CONCRETE SHALL HAVE A 28-DAY COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 4,000 PSI, UNLESS OTHERWISENOTED.
G-10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE BOROUGH ENGINEER INSPECTIONS DEPARTMENT AND THEBOROUGH WATER AND SEWER ENGINEER 24 HOURS BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF CONSTRUCTION.
G-11. ALL WORK SHALL COMPLY WITH APPLICABLE STATE, FEDERAL, AND LOCAL CODES, AND ALLNECESSARY LICENSES AND PERMITS SHALL BE OBTAINED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT HIS EXPENSEUNLESS PREVIOUSLY OBTAINED BY THE OWNER/DEVELOPER.
G-12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY INFORM THE OWNER AND OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE OF ANYDISCREPANCIES OR ERRORS HE DISCOVERS ON THE PLAN.
G-13. DEVIATION FROM THESE PLANS AND NOTES WITHOUT THE PRIOR CONSENT OF THE OWNER, OWNER'SREPRESENTATIVE AND/OR THE DESIGN ENGINEER MAY BE CAUSE FOR THE WORK TO BEUNACCEPTABLE.
G-14. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO USE THE ONE-CALL CENTER TELEPHONE NUMBER [1-800-272-1000] FOR THE PURPOSE OF COORDINATING THE MARKING OF UNDERGROUND UTILITIES.
G-15. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO DETERMINE THE LOCATION OF ALL EXISTINGUNDERGROUND UTILITIES AND TO TAKE WHATEVER STEPS NECESSARY TO PROVIDE FOR THEIRPROTECTION. THE ENGINEER HAS DILIGENTLY ATTEMPTED TO LOCATE AND INDICATE ALL EXISTINGFACILITIES ON THESE PLANS; HOWEVER, THIS INFORMATION IS SHOWN FOR THE CONTRACTOR'SCONVENIENCE ONLY. THE ENGINEER ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE LOCATIONS OF UTILITIESSHOWN OR NOT SHOWN. C-3. BACKFILL IN THE TRENCHES SHALL BE COMPACTED TO THE DENSITY OF 95% OFTHEORETICAL MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY (ASTM D698). A REPORT FROM A GEOTECHNICALENGINEER MAY BE REQUIRED BY THE BOROUGH INSPECTOR. CORRECTION OF ANY TRENCHSETTLEMENT WITHIN A YEAR FROM THE DATE OF APPROVAL WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITYOF THE CONTRACTOR.

CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE DIRECTLY WITH FIRE MARSHALL WITHREGARD TO HYDRANT SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS NOT LESS THAN 3 DAYS PRIOR TOINTERRUPTION.
GLASSBORO WATER AND SEWER NOTES:1. WATER PIPING SMALLER THAN 3" SHALL BE TYPE "K" SOFT TEMPER COPPER TUBING WITH
FLARED FITTINGS. WATER PIPING SHALL BE DISINFECTED BY CONTACT WITH A CHLORINESOLUTION NOT LESS THAN 50 PPM FOR NOT LESS THAN 24 HOURS.
2. WHEREVER THE TRENCH BOTTOM DOES NOT AFFORD SUFFICIENT BEARING STRENGTH TOSUSTAIN THE WEIGHT OF THE PIPE AND SUPERIMPOSED LOADS, IT SHALL BE OVEREXCAVATED AND STABILIZED WITH A 12 INCH THICK MINIMUM LAYER OF CRUSHED STONE.
3. CONTRACTOR'S EFFORTS SHALL BE MADE TO RETAIN EXISTING TREES, VEGETATION ANDNATURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRACT.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR RESTORING, PAVING, TOPSOILING,SODDING, FERTILIZING AND SEEDING ALL AREAS DISTURBED BY HIS ACTIVITIES.
5. INSPECTION OF OR FAILURE TO INSPECT ANY MATERIALS OR WORKMANSHIP BY STATE,COUNTY OR BOROUGH OFFICIALS SHALL IN NO WAY RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR OF HISRESPONSIBILITIES TO PERFORM THE WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE PLANS,SPECIFICATIONS AND LAWS.
6. ALL WATER AND SEWER INSTALLATIONS SHALL CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THEINSPECTION AND TESTING PROCEDURES MANUAL OF THE BOROUGH OF GLASSBORO.

2. VALVE BOX TO BE BUFFALO TYPE, 3 PIECE CASTIRON, SLIDE OR SCREW TYPE. TABS WITHIN SLIDEMODEL SHALL NOT BE REMOVED. (MUELLER #H-10380)
