The Ammonia Solution• Ammonia is one Nitrogen atom and three Hydrogen

atoms, NH3.• Ammonia can be synthesized from air and water.• W2G is proposing a Non Thermal Plasma (NTP)

reactor to synthesize Ammonia.• Fuel cell technology can be adapted to recombine the

three Hydrogen atoms with atmospheric Oxygen and recover the stored energy as electricity.

• Ammonia storage is easier/safer than Hydrogen gas. • The Ammonia cycle is carbon free!

NH3 is nearly 18% hydrogen by weight and has slightly over half the energy density of gasoline byvolume. All of ammonia’s energy is derived from its hydrogen content; it can be easily reformed tohydrogen and nitrogen, with N2 returned to its source, Earth’s atmosphere. NH3 has the highesthydrogen content by volume of any liquid fuel, including gasoline, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG, propane), ethanol, and even liquid hydrogen. Liquid anhydrous ammonia, NH3, has more atoms of hydrogen per liter than liquid hydrogen. This ability of NH3 to store hydrogen very compactly at ambient temperature and moderate pressure is a key advantage for NH3 over GH2.
