International AIDS Candlelight Candle light Memorial

OUR CONTACTS AND WHO WE ARE

On the 17th of May 2017, Uganda joined the rest of the world to commemorate the AIDS Candlelight memorial in Kiryandongo district under the theme “Joining hands to scale up HIV prevention.” As part of the memorial, AMICAALL and TASO in partnership with Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC), hosted a national dialogue dinner on the evening of 16th May 2017 at Max Hotel in Kigumba Town Council. The dinner was an advocacy platform that raised the local is-sues to promote the ownership and commitment of the local leaders to the HIV and AIDS response. The leaders pledged to support the realization of the 90-90-90 targets by engaging the community – for the people believe in them (their leaders). The dinner dialogue participants included representatives of the Central Government, Local Govern-ment, Police, Judiciary, health workers, Civil Society Organizations, and Bunyoro kingdom. Below are some pictures.

dle: The District Police Commander (left) and RDC of Kiryandongo attending the dialogue. Right: The Director of Policy

Research and Programming at UAC, Dr. Zepher Karyabakabo taking notes at the dialogue. The dinner dialogue was a

pre– candle light memorial forum for engaging the Kiryandongo leadership as well as local and national HIV

stakeholders.
