VP Technical Report By John Fischer Jr.
Our speaker for the September, meeting was Gregory Hoekstra from Blackmore and Glunt, Inc., a strategic business partner of Bell & Gossett. His presentation titled “How do we size and select a pressure booster system?” took us back to the beginning of pump design. We were reminded of what had to be considered in our design; system flow requirement, boost pressure, system load, and whether to be variable speed. Cavitation had to be avoided in our design so that the pump did not become damaged, all things considered, it was good to be reminded that we sometimes need to go back to the fundamentals of design.
I again ask members for assist in obtaining speakers. I intend to have secured a speaker for our October 4th meeting. Our scheduled speaker became unavailable for this meeting, How-ever, he has promised to be available for a presentation later this year.
Continuing Education Certificates will again be available for those who did not receive them for the May or September meeting and also for the current meeting.
Hope to see you October 4th for our next meeting.

A cast iron piping system is designed to last the lifetime of a building. It’s exceptionally durable and offers superior sound performance. Philadelphia, known for its rich history, was the first American city to use cast iron pipe exclusively due to its longevity. A revolutionary American city that shaped our nation with the signing of the Declaration and Constitution, the Liberty Bell and the nation’s first hospital. A city with a tradition of excellence. Now that’s Tyler Tough.
