EVENT SUMMARY
Flavors of Miami is a unique annual fundraising event that brings together 17 to 20 of South Florida’s top chefs to offer signature cuisine to a limited number of guests in an intimate and exclusive setting. Each chef creates a personal menu and prepares a five-course meal, with wine pairings, for one table of 12 guests. The chef’s team also designs the table setting to reflect both the restaurant cuisine and the chef’s personal flair.
The gala opens with a cocktail reception, hors d’oeuvres samplings from each chef and a silent auction, featuring hundreds of gift certificates, items and experiences. During the cocktail hour, guests learn which chef they will be dining with for the evening after the cocktail hour. Guests are seated at to their tables, and the unique evening begins.
All proceeds benefit the American Liver Foundation, a 501 (c )(3) national, voluntary health organization dedicated to research, education and advocacy for those affected by more than 100 liver-related diseases.

MISSION To facilitate, advocate and promote education, support and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.
79¢ of every dollar raised by the American Liver Foundation is directed towards programs and services.
The American Liver Foundation was established in 1976 by the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD). This organization of scientists and healthcare professionals was concerned with the rising incidence of liver disease and the lack of awareness among both the general public and the medical community. Today, the mission, programs and services provided by the American Liver Foundation continue to complement the great work of AASLD.
Statistics on the prevalence of liver disease are startling: Liver disease directly touches the lives of approximately 30 million Americans,
more than the population of the 15 largest U.S. cities. Up to 5.4 million Americans have chronic hepatitis B (HBV) or hepatitis C (HCV)
infection. About 65% and 75% of the infected population unaware that they are infected with HBV and HCV, respectively.
Up to 25% of Americans may have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, including
more than six million children. Primary liver cancer is one of the few cancers on the rise in the United States. Chronic liver disease/cirrhosis is the 12th leading cause of death in the United
States. Liver disease is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States between the ages of 45 and 54 years. Nationally, over 16,000 individuals are waiting for a liver transplant, and only
about 600 will receive one.
Many liver diseases are preventable or reversible. No other voluntary organization in the nation provides a voice for 30 million Americans with liver disease.
The ALF carries out its mission through education to promote liver health and disease prevention. Three national core programs are targeted to reach the public, at “risk groups” and patients with liver disease. The ALF is the leading source of information on liver health and liver disease, through printed materials and www.liverfoundation.org. A toll-free helpline and 16 Division offices provide support to newly diagnosed patients, families and the general public, through phone, email and community outreach. The ALF funds research that has helped to begin the careers of more than 700 scientists in the field of liver health, in hopes of finding treatments and cures that will lead to a world free of liver disease.
