“Easter My Neighbors” ByDolores S.
It’s just another Sunday to sleepin late.Just another day to stay home fromthe job I hate.To send the children outside to playI don’t go to church, I am too tired,I give them a basket with lotsof candySend out for a burger—anythingthat’s handy. But my neighbors next door—I callthem weird.Always in church with Bible I heard. They knock on my door for theumpteenth time,To invite you to church for breadand wine.I decide to go and get rid ofthe pests,We dressed up and wear our best. All the people look different andfriendly, too,They shake our hands, what shouldI do.But when the preacher startedtalking,My knees started knocking. He talked about Jesus that’s allI heard. He kept saying it’s in the word.Down my face came many tears,Jesus is what I needed allthese years. That Easter morning, I’ll never forget, was I born again—you bet.I don’t sleep late on Sundaysanymore,I’m in the church when they openthat door.I read my Bible and pray every day,Jesus Christ is the only way.
Intergenerational andMulticultural Visit

Easter EggsBy: Brian Rosso, R.D.The Easter egg is a tradition that is
celebrated around the world. Manypeople believe that the egg is a sign ofrebirth. Originally, people would takegreat time and effort to paint anddecorate eggs. However, over time, some people chose to use plasticeggs or chocolate eggs instead.
• Decorating Easter eggs datesback 2,500 years.
• Countries such as Russia,Romania and Poland still createvery detailed colored eggs.
• Some people prefer tan Eastereggs, so they boil the eggs inwater containing onion skins.
• In England, different coloredyarns are also tied to the eggs tocreate a unique look.
• On Easter in the United Kingdom, painted eggs are rolled downsteep hills for fun.
• In the United States, children rolleggs on the ground using aspoon, which is an annual eventat the White House.
• Easter egg hunts are anotherfamous tradition.
• Beeping Easter eggs are nowused to allow the visuallyimpaired the opportunity to alsohunt for Easter eggs.
Happy Easter!
