We have a lot you can do this coming month! July was a fun and busy month! We enjoyed an organ concert at Pillar Church in Holland followed by lunch at the Beechwood Inn. Other fun trips were Boulder Ridge, Mini Golf, and Music in the Park! We had a delicious Hawaiian meal for our Lunch Luau, and we enjoyed a performance from the Calder City Band! This month we will continue the fun with a lot of great trips and music! We plan to take the bus to Dutch Village, John Ball Zoo, Balinski’s, and Pillar Church for another organ concert! Our Second Annual Car Show is this month and that is something you won’t want to miss! We also have music from Al Mahan for our August birthday party and the Greater Joy Worship Trio later on in the month! I hope you all have a wonderful August! Chaplain’s CornerUNLEASHING HOPE

Replace Burnout with BalanceIs this statement true of you?

“When I relax, I feel guilty.” In asociety that tells us to “go, go, go,”we often live dangerously close toburnout. Yet, you and I were neverdesigned to live like that. Instead,God created us to need rest. TheBible reminds us to: “Be still, andknow that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

We are designed for the need toregularly set aside margin in ourlives so as not to burn out.Unfortunately, the conditions ofmodern day living seem to fight usand devour margin. See if you canfind yourself in any of the examplesbelow.

“Marginless” is being thirtyminutes late to the doctor’s officebecause you were twenty minuteslate getting out of the hairdresserbecause you were ten minutes latedropping the children off at schoolbecause the car ran out of gas two

blocks from a gas station and youforgot your purse. That’s“marginless.”

Margin, on the other hand, ishaving breath at the top of thestaircase, money at the end of themonth and sanity left over at the endof adolescence. Margin is having thetime to read it twice. Margin isenergy. Margin is black ink. Marginis calm.

Marginless is not having time tofinish the book you’re reading onstress. Marginless is fatigue.Marginless is red ink. Marginlessis hurry.

MARGINLESS IS THE DISEASEOF OUR DECADE AND MARGIN ISTHE CURE.

“You chart the path ahead of meand tell me where to stop and rest.”Psalm 139:3 NLT

Aug. 3 Is NationalWatermelon Day

By Emily BeardAs many of you know, keeping your

body properly hydrated is importantfor your everyday health. An easy wayto do this is by drinking water;however, eating foods that have highwater content can also help!Interestingly, watermelon is 92percent water!

High water content is one of thereasons that fruits and vegetableshelp you feel full and is also why youare able to eat large amounts withouta lot of calories. As far as fruits go,watermelon is one of the lowest incalories—only 46 calories per cup!

There are five common types ofwatermelon: seeded, seedless, mini(thumb size), yellow and orange.

Health Benefits of Watermelon:• Protects against kidney damage• Reduces wrinkles and age spots• Lowers body temperature and

prevents heat stroke• Lowers blood pressure• Prevents cancer• Improves heart function• Protects eyes and prevents

macular degenerationLycopene is the powerful

carotenoid antioxidant that giveswatermelon its pinkish/reddish coloras well as all of its health benefits.High blood levels of lycopene havebeen proven to prevent againsta stroke!

Keep in mind: Health professionalssay that you must “Eat melon alone orleave it alone because it will makeyour stomach groan.” The trick is tohave no food 30 minutes before orafter eating melon.
