The EC9830 rotating gas filter correlation wheel has two gas filled

cells.OnecontainsCOwhichremovesallIRenergyintheCOabsorp

tionwavelengths thereby creating a reference beam. The other cell

containsnitrogenwhichallowstheCOabsorptionspectralbandstobe

measuredwiththesamplegas.ThedifferenceinIRenergysensedby

the solid state detector duringmeasurement and reference cycle is

proportionaltotheCOpresentinthemeasurementcell.Thisratiomet

ric techniqueeliminatesmost sourcesofdrift (i.e. interference from

CO2andH2O)typicalofotherlesssophisticatedinfraredanalyzers.
