VII. Old Business Gil Langley
Gil reiterated to the board that everything we do, we measure. We do this for accuracy, for data,
and for ROI. He also pointed out that Destinations International (the CVB Trade Association
which certifies our organization), based on the average of all respondents with budgets of $5 - $8
6
million, the typical CVB spends 47% of the budget on administration and overhead, the AITDC
budget spends 15%on Administration, this allows the AITDC to keep a strong focus on what is
the most important needs to market the island.
The City and County have both met and discussed the Proposed Comprehensive Clean Beach
Program – it was asked for AITDC to put forth a plan of action and submit it back to the county
BOCC. In doing so, the SWOT Analysis was created which reviews the strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats of the clean beach program. The City and County Collaboration was
Trash Removal, Beach Cleaning, Bathrooms, Promotions, Signage and Funding and Supervision.

Marone to please allow him to finish his presentation as many of his concerns would be address.
Creating a Sense of Place is the environmental branding initiative signage plan. Phase 1 was

Tourism Activity Report
April 2019
Mission Statement Created by the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners in 1988, the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council (AITDC) oversees the development and marketing of Amelia Island as a world-class tourism destination.
As provided by Florida law, the AITDC is responsible for the expenditure of revenues received from the levy and imposition of the tourism development tax.
The goals of the AITDC are to generate visitation to Amelia Island and its attractions/special events, thereby increasing tax revenues, including sales taxes and those imposed on the hospitality industry. In turn, those tax revenues may be used to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the community, provide support for beach
re-nourishment, and ensure a viable hospitality industry.
The key focus areas of Amelia Island TDC are:

• Conferences/Meetings
• Travel Trade Shows
• Events
