Eastern European Respite Day Centre –
Northern Region
Respite Day Centre allows carers of older people, and carers of people with disabilities to have a break and look after their own health and well-being, with the comfort of knowing that their dependants are well looked after.
Who can access this service?
Carers from a Polish and Eastern European background, who live in the Northern Region of Melbourne and they take care of the person who:
» has dementia or challenging behaviours
» is frail and is over the age of 65
What do we offer?
We organise transport, food and activities for our program participants while their carers get a short break from their caring role. The nature and type of activities depends on their interests and capabilities, for example singing, craft and playing games.
Costs? Thanks to the Australian government subsidy, only a small weekly fee applies for the partici-pation in the program.
