About the Multicultural Emergency Relief Service

We help and support individuals and families from non-English speaking backgrounds, who are experiencing financial crisis. We listen to our client’s needs, assess and identify the areas they need support in.

What do we provide? » We assist our clients by undertaking an

assessment of needs.

» We ensure that our clients receive the benefits and concessions to which they are entitled.

» We provide support and referral to other programs and services that can assist to overcome financial distress - including on site financial counselling and negotiating with creditors.

» We provide case work and advocacy support including identifying options to address issues such as housing, family support and mental health.

» We provide material aid including food parcels and Coles voucher, to address pressing financial problems.

» Access to interpreter services available.

Who can access this service?People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, who:

» are in financial crisis.

» live in the western Metropolitan region of Melbourne.

» live with or care for a person with a disability and are financially disadvantaged.
