AMCARE – WHO WE ARE Go forth in faith – the motto at the AMCARE Centre of Faith, Hope and Love, that has seen this center grow in leaps and bounds to now provide the number one outreach program in the Greater Alberton area - despite huge financial challenges the Centre faces monthly.

AMCARE was established in 2001 by the Alberton Methodist Church as a community outreach program and it was decided to establish a victim empowerment center for victims of domestic violence, comprehensive HIV and Aids services and skills development services.

Today 11 years later and operating independently but in association with the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, AMCARE achieve the seemingly impossible, with activities extending from Alberton to Thokoza, Eden park, Phola Park and the squatter camps of Greenfields and Thinasonke.

AMCARE SERVICES INCLUDE:

- Supplying approximately 1500 meals on a monthly basis. This does not include the daily walk-ins from the street

- A holistic home based care service to elderly and bedridden clients over 60 years of age

- A 4 week training program in either catering or sewing at a minimal cost of R20 registration fee

- Professional social work services to victims of domestic violence, people affected and infected by HIV/AIDS and elderly patients

- Comprehensive HIV services to patients, which includes HIV and TB testing and pre- and post- test counseling to about 600 patients a month and providing ARV’s in conjunction with Germiston hospital. The main focus of the Injabulo clinic is however the medical male circumcision performed by the more than 20 staff members of the clinic on a daily basis. Medical male circumcision is done at no cost to patients and is performed by a qualified doctor under strict hygienic conditions. All male children over the age of 12 are possible candidates for this procedure. The clinic also offers occupational health medical examinations at a cost to employers

FACILITIES ON OUR PREMISES ALSO INCLUDE:

- An accredited learnership program in community health to 60 students from community based organization

- 3 large vegetable gardens to provide patients fresh vegetables in their food parcels. AMCARE has also established 165 domestic and three large food gardens in the townships.

- 13 vehicles- AMCARE also provides facilities to CANSA and have extended this benefit to

Stepping Stones Hospice which is now operating from the AMCARE grounds

AMCARE AND YOUR BBBEE SCORECARD

- AMCARE is a registered NPO (NPO 016-772). We are also registered as a public benefit organization with SARS and can qualifies you for a tax relief.

- As we understand it, the socio economic development element of the BBBEE scorecard gives acknowledgement to companies that help 75% or more black beneficiaries gain sustainable access to the economy. These contributions can be monetary or non-monetary in nature

- The profile of our beneficiary community is 95% African, 4% Coloured and 1% white, which can benefit your companies BBBEE scorecard by 25 weighting points. We will provide you with an affidavit certifying the beneficiary community. Proof of receipt of the payments will also be provided. (The section 18 tax certificate is normally accepted)

SOME OF THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS

- Clothing for children between the ages of 2 and 8- Nappies- Salt, tea, coffee and sugar for the food parcels- Tinned food for the parcels

- Monthly financial assistance to cover much needed overheads- Seedlings for vegetable gardens in townships- Garden tools for the gardeners- Upgrade of the skills development center for children
