announce that Collage will be taking place on Saturday,

of the Legacy Project, we are pleased to announce that we

are honoring Carlos Melguizo and Saul Sanchez for their

generosity of time, talent, and treasure; consistently

increasing our capacity to serve our community.

At its core, the museum is an educational institution that

contributes to the economic development, culture, education

and tourism industry of the Rio Grande Valley. We engage,

inform, teach, educate and inspire members of our

community with exhibits, lectures, presentations, and

instruction in both art and science regardless of age,

language barriers or economic status.

Since 1978, the Collage fundraising event enables the

museum to provide high caliber art and science programs

that continue enriching our community. We appreciate your

This year, Collage is occurring at an auspicious time for our

community as it coincides with the first day of National

Hispanic Heritage month. Reflecting upon all the good and

sweet things that so many Hispanic leaders bring to our

community, we are delighted to be honoring Mr. Carlos

Melguizo and Mr. Saul Sanchez in recognition of their

generosity of time, talent and treasure towards expanding

the museum’s fundraising capabilities. Together, with Carlos

serving on the IMAS Board of Trustees for six consecutive

years, he and Saul have positively positioned Collage as a

cultural experience and destination in itself! In appreciation

of Carlos and Saul’s leadership, and in tandem with the

celebration of our Hispanic Americans here in the Rio

Grande Valley, we are also pleased to present the

internationally acclaimed exhibit The Latino List:

Photographs by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, on loan from

the San Antonio Museum of Art. This exhibit presents

influential Latinos from the worlds of culture, business,

politics and sports.

Each year, the funds raised through Collage help the

museum fulfill its mission by presenting a wide range of

engaging art and science exhibits, cultural events and

educational programs to all people, regardless of income

level. By engaging our children, by preserving and

interpreting our cultural heritage, and by giving tourists

another reason to visit McAllen, the IMAS helps expand our

region’s educational, cultural, and economic development.
