Ernest Miller Hemingway

Was born on July 21, 1899 and died on July 2, 1961 Was an American write and journalist. He was part of the 1920s expatriate community in Paris, and one of the veterans of World War I later known as the Lost Generation.

He received the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 for The Old man and The Sea, and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954.

Hemingway's distinctive is characterized by economy and understatement, and had a significant influence on the development of twentieth-century fiction writing.

His protagonist are typically stoical men who exhibit an ideal described as "grace under pressure." Many of his works are now considered classics of American literature..

• Ernest M. Hemingway also wrote several novels such as: In Another Country, in this story he talk about a war, the world war I, the setting is Milan, away from the scene of the fighting.

• The narrator describes the city he passes on his way to the hospital to receive physical rehabilitation for the leg wounds he received while at the front.


• Ernest M. Hemingway was critize by other authors, because the form he wrote his novels were violent, but the people who read it like it, besides all this criticism he continued writing

Karen Louise Erdrich, known as Louise Erdrich, was born on July 6, 1954.

Native American author of novels, poetry, and children’s book. She is an enrolled member of the Anishinaabe nation also known as Ojibwa and Chippewa and also has German, French and American ancestry.

• She is widely acclaimed as one of the most significant Native writers of the second wave of what critic Kenneth Lincoln has called the Native American Renaissance.

• In April 2009, her novel The Plague of Doves was named a finalist for the Pulitzer Price in Fiction. She is the owner of Birchbark Books, a small independent bookstore in Minneapolis, Minnesota

• She wrote several novels, like Love Medicine, this the first novel that Louise Eldrich published in 1984.

• Each chapter is narrated by a different character. These narratives are very conversational, as if the narrators were telling a story, often from the first person perspective. There are, however, five chapters that are told from a limited third person perspective.

• The tone of the novel is very conversational and indicative of the storytelling tradition in Native American culture.
