AESS Project

Workshop on Understanding Complexities of Women Migration:

Two days’ workshop on Understanding Complexities of Women Migration: Laws and Policies to Promote Safe Migration has been organized at CYSD, Bhubaneswar from 20th to 21st Oct, 2016. The objective of this workshop was to create awareness on understanding of safe migration, working in freedom (domestic worker), policies and laws related to migration, trafficking and straggling, women as migrant. Mr. Umi Daniel from Aide-et-Action International was the resource person in the workshop. Ms. Sarita Dash, Program Coordinator, Ms. Rina Pujari and Tulasa Khillo, Women Team Leaders were participated in the program on behalf of AES, Koraput. The program was jointly organized by NAWO, SEWA AND AAINA.

Village Level Sensitization Program on Japanese Encephalitis has

been organized by AESS at its nine operational blocks in Koraput

district. The first program has been organized at Damakuguda village

of Bhitargada Gram Panchayat in Laxmipur block and then it

extended to rest AESS operational blocks. In the sensitization

programs, people were aware how they make clean their villages,

use mosquito nets and keep away to pigs as least 3 km from the

human habitation. They also sensitized how to take preventative

steps from Japanese Encephalitis. Small children’s are more

vulnerable for this Japanese Encephalitis so special care should be

taken in this direction.

The first preparatory Meeting for Annual Adivasi Ekta Parab has been organized at Action Aid office, Bhubaneswar

on 17th October, 2016 at. Mr. Ranjit Kumar Pangi was attended in the meeting on behalf of AESS. In this meeting, it

had finalized about the observation of Annual Adivasi Ekta Parab. On 24th October, the second meeting has been

held at Japakhal near Rayagada where representatives from AESS and JAGARANA of Gudari were attended. The

meeting focused on budgetary aspect for the Annual Adivasi meets and finalized the budget. Mr. Ghasiram Panda,

Ms. Sudeshna Mishra and Ms. Lopamudra, Program Manager of Actionaid office, Bhubaneswar were facilitated in

the program. Mr. Ranjit Kumar Pangi, Sridhar Jani, Lachiga Benya and community leader Mr. Panchanan Saunta

were participated in the meeting from AESS, Koraput.

Targeted Intervention (TI) Project

State Level Training for Program Manager (FSW): A State Level Training Program for

FSW, Trucker, TI Program Managers has organized by Orissa State AIDS Control Society (OSACS) in

collaboration with Public Health International Foundation,

Delhi on 20th to 21st October, 2016 at Hotel Excellency,

Bhubaneswar. 32 Program Managers from different TIs of

Odisha were participated in the training program. The

major topics discussed during the training program were

i.e. The Program Manager should overall responsibility of

TI project in their concerned project areas, Role and

Responsibilities of TI project staffs, TI component,

condom promotion, TI finance, counseling HRG, capturing

experimental knowledge and community strengthening

system. Ms. Bharati Mahapatra had participated in the training program on behalf of TI, Ekta Koraput.

ART COORDINATION MEETING: Ms. Bharati Mahapatra, Program Manager of TI, Ekta

Koraput attended in the ART coordination meeting at ADMO conference hall, Koraput on 25th October,

2016. In the meeting, Dr. Promad Panda, ADMO (PH), Ms. Rasmita Mohanty, DPM, DAPCU and Dr.

Dhaneswar Sahoo, ART center Doctor were participated and discussed in the monthly progress of planned

activities by different agencies towards HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support.

MOBILE HEALTH UNIT PROJECT-AROGYA PLUS

MOBILE HEALTH CAMP: Mobile Health Unit Project had successfully organized 39 numbers of Health

Camp at different remote villages of 06 Gram Panchayats of Pottangi block. Around 1400 patients were got

treatment from these health camps where 71 patients

detected in Skin Disease and 9 were Malaria Positive.

All the patients were received free medicines from the

Mobile Health Unit of Ekta. Ayush Doctor Mr. Prasanta

Pradhan, Ms. Kakoli Dash, ANM and MHU staffs were

facilitated during the health camp.

SOUL PROJECT

Monthly Meeting of Village Action Team: Monthly meeting of Village Action Team (VAT)

members has been organized at 10 villages of Kutuli and Kumbhikota Gram Panchayats. In these meetings,

review of planned activities at VAT level has been discussed.

Construction of Anganwadi Centre has started at Jhumuka village from 19th October, 2016. VAT

members were made advocacy for its construction because the condition of the old AWC was not

safe. Rs 700000/-(Rs 500000/- ICDS AND Rs 200000/-) has sanctioned by the govt. for this

construction. Mr. Uma Sankar Miniaka, Secretary, VAT has received work order for this work.

Renovation of pond and water diversion work has been started at Jhumuka village by the VAT

members and Rs 100000/- has mobilized from the Govt. for this purpose. Mr. Lada Miniaka, VAT

member has received the work order from the department.

C. C. Road and Guard wall construction work has been mobilized by the VAT members of Minapai

village where they were able to mobilize Rs 400000/- from the block for the construction purpose.

CHILDLINE PROJECT

Case Intervention: Childline team has intervened 6 cases i.e. shelter 04, education support 01,

missing child 01 during this fortnight. Among them, 04 cases were produced before Child Welfare

Committee, Koraput and rest cases are planning to produce in the coming days.

Community Awareness Program: Parents and Children meet organized at Sasahandi

(Kotpad), Podapader and Benasur of Borigumma where the community members were sensitised on child

rights and child line services. One SHG meeting has been organized at Parli village of Borigumma where

Maa Dangardei SHG members were discussed on school dropout issue due to migration, child marriage

and child abuse in their village. ASHA meet has been organized on 19th October at Alupader village of

Kotpad where the participants were focused on child rights and early marriage issues.

Phone Testing: 50 numbers of phone tested in the village level during the outreach activities by the

childline team members during the reporting period.

Wall writing on Childline services has been done in 10 different places of Borigumma and Kotpad block

areas. This will certainly help the community people to know the Childline services of 1098 & they will be

helpful in addressing the issues of children.

Advocating for Change for Persons with Disabilities

Project

In this fortnight, following activities have been organized under the Advocating for Change for Persons

with Disabilities project by the project staffs.

Prepared fact sheet for Koraput district.

Participated & supported to the Persons with Disabilities in Bhima Bhoi Samarth Sibiro for getting various services, facilities such as certificate and social security scheme linkages.

10 DPO meetings had been organized at Koraput, Rayagada and Khurdha districts.

ACCESS to Clean Cook Stove for Economic

Sustainable Social Wellbeing (ACCESS) Project

In this fortnight, following activities have been organized under the ACCESS project by the project staffs.

Finalized 2 production centres at Pottangi and Bijapur (Borigumma)

Formed 2 briquette centres at Kankadaput (Semiliguda) and Charagaon (Jeypore)

Demonstrated Briquette at Puruna Dumuriput village of Koraput block on 23rd October, 2016

CRC-CBR Project

On 25th October, 2016 District Administration was organized “Bhimo Bhoi Samartha Sibira” for the

Persons with Disabilities at Govt. High School ground, Koraput. In this, 30 PWDs and CWDs from Ekta’s

Koraput field areas were mobilized to the camp for getting disability certificate and other social security

linkages from various Govt. departments. Binod Bagh, Dhanurjaya Nayak, Avinash Sinha, Simanchal Reddy

and Prabhanjan Khara were played key role to mobilize and facilitating during the camp.

4th numbers of ASHA Sathi batch training has been

organized under National Health Mission by District

Medical Administration at Ekta’s Training Center,

Duruguda from 13th to 26th Oct, 2016. The ASHA Sathi

from Semiliguda and Nandapur blocks were

participated in the training program.

CDMO, ADM (FW) & other key health personnel were

supervised the entire training programs.

Other Activities held at Ekta in this fortnight

Mr. Jagannath Mishra, Secretary and Mr. U K Patra, Joint-Secretary of Ekta attended workshop on Impact oriented project planning and monitoring at KKID, Coimbatore from 15th to 17th October, 2016. In this workshop, altogether 23 participants from India, Nepal & Bangladesh attended.

Ms. Sarita Das, Program Coordinator attended regional workshop on multilingual on 29th of October, 2016 organized by SOVA, Koraput

Mr. Sidheswar of EDI visited our organization to know - what are the initiatives taken by the trainees (entrepreneurs) after the training program.

Mr. Amit Kumar Nayak and Mr. Prabhat Paikaray were participated in training program on fund raising and effective proposal writing organized by Resource Alliance at CYSD, Bhubaneswar and Finance Management organized by FMSF at the same venue.
