WHAT IS ALZHEIMER’S/ INFORMATION
• Alzheimer's is a brain disease. Alzheimer’s can be caused by having a family member who has Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's disease is a condition that a nerve cell in the brain dies. It makes it hard for all the signals to go through your brain. Someone who has Alzheimer's can not remember many things. Their memory becomes smaller and what ever they say, they probably wont remember after about maybe 5 minutes. The nerve cells eventually die. Sometimes when they place something somewhere they will not remember where they put what they are looking for.

Statistical information
. Alzheimer's disease currently affects 2.4 million to 4.5 Americans • it is arranged that the number of Americans with
Alzheimer's disease could have more than triple to 16 million by the middle century.
.The action of the disease doubles every five years after age 65
. As the population becomes older, the disease encounters a greater percentage of Americans. The number of people at the age of 65 and older will double between 2000 and 2030 to 70.3 million or 20 percent of the U.S. population. People who are 85 and older will rise twice as much to 8.9 million, according to the U.S.
. about half a million Americans that are younger than age 65 have some form of rage, including Alzheimer's disease.

The graph shows how many Americans over the age of 65 are currently affected by Alzheimer's, and a projection of how many more will become affected with it as time passes.

Symptoms
• For many people, having many memory problems in themselves or some family members makes them fearful of Alzheimer's disease. The person’s age has to do with weaker brain condensing, producing normal changes in processing speed, attention, and short term memory, which is called senior moments.

Treatments
• Right now there are no treatments for Alzheimer's. People with Alzheimer's, have to take medication, but there are no treatments or cure of Alzheimer's.

How discovered- Who Discovered It
• Alzheimer's disease was discovered about 100 years ago, when a German Physician by the name of Alois Alzheimer presented a case of a 51 year old women who had severe memory, language, and behavior problems to his medical colleagues. When Dr. Alzheimer tested the woman's autopsy, he found a dangerously shrunken brain and unusual strangeness in and around cells. That’s when he named this disease Alzheimer's.

Point of Interest- Why we are Interested- What I Found
Interesting • I am interested about Alzheimer's because I
know a few people who do have it. I know that it is very stressful for the family member to deal with another family member having Alzheimer's, I know because my mom’s best friend had Alzheimer's, and I hear all the time how much she is stressed since her mom has Alzheimer's. I found it interesting because I have heard and read a lot of information about Alzheimer's that interest me! I found out that about 4.5 million people have Alzheimer's in the U.S.
