    Start: 21. April 2010

    fr die mittlere Fhrungsebene

    ProgrammbersichtDatum: 1. 3. September 2010

    Dauer: 3 Tage

    Seminarort: Hotel Einstein,St.Gallen (CH)

    Preis: CHF 3'800.-

    einzusetzen?

LernzieleDas neue St.Galler Leadership-Modell zeigt Ihnen praxiserprobte Techniken

    wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse in Kombination

    mit praxiserprobten Methoden unmittelbar auf

Ihre eigene Fhrungssituation an. So werden Sie,

    untersttzt durch eine systematische, individuelle

    Standortbestimmung und einen konkreten Mass-

nahmenplan fr Ihre Fhrungspraxis, Ihre Leader-

    ship-Kompetenz gezielt verbessern.

one millionAfrica has some of the worlds poorest

nations, with seventy percent of its

people living on $2 a day and starving.

This year at least one million young

africans will die of malaria. Africas future

is under threat, struggling with a triple

crisis that keeps its people poor. Itsnations are weak with the heavy burden

    of unpayable debtmoney that should

go to healthcare and education. The

epidemic of aids is taking the lives of an

    entire generation. Unfair trade policies

keep them from selling their products

at world prices to overcome poverty.

Africa is at a critical turning point. The

crises could get far worse, or you can

help. How we save Africa now is a test

of our humanity, and our willingness to

respond to the moral crisis of our time.

    will die of aids.

The Karl Fischertechnique for waterdeterminationisa titration reaction basedon the Bunsen equation:

    (2) [RNH]SO3R + H2O + I2 + 2RN2[RNH]I + [RNH]SO4R

(RN = base, ROH = alcohol, typically methanol)

    The oxidation of alkylsulfitetoalkylsulfatein

    Fischerreagentsforboth volumetricandcoulo-metrictitrationsfornearly alltypesof samples.

    Sigma-Aldrichis a pioneerin the supplyofsafe,reliable andeasy-to-use pyridine-free Karl Fischer

    reagents.

    Composition

    HYDRANAL-Composite isa one-componentreagentforvolumetricKarl Fischertitration.It containsallthe

    reactantsincluding iodine,sulfurdioxide,andthebasesimidazole and2-methylimidazole,dissolved

in diethyleneglycolmonoethylether(DEGEE). Using2-methylimidazole in addition to imidazole improves

the stability andeliminatesthe formation of crystalwhichcaninterfere with titratorsperformance.Thisdevelopmentispatent protected.

    Stability

    HYDRANAL-Composite isstabilizedwith DEGEEratherthan 2-methoxyethanol(2-ME). DEGEE

    improvesstability;the concentration lossislessthan 5% peryear.

    Advantagesoftwo-componenttitrationHighertitration speed

    Exactand stable concentration

    Composition

With two-componentreagents,the reactants arein two separate solutions:the solventandthe titrant.

    HYDRANAL-Solventisa solution of sulfurdioxideandimidazoleinmethanol.HYDRANAL-Titrant

containsasolution of iodine with a precisely definedconcentration.

    StabilityThetitrantshavea shelflife of three years,the

    solventsfive years,aslong asthe bottlesareunopened.

    Using HYDRANAL-Solvent/Titrants

We recommendthefollowing procedure forthetwo-componenttitration technique (Figure 2):

    1. FilltheburettewithHYDRANAL-Titrant(E)2. AddHYDRANAL-Solvent(E) to the titration

vessel3. Titrate the titration vesselto drynesswith

    HYDRANAL-Titrant(E)4 . A d d th e s ample

    5. Titratethewatercontentwith HYDRANAL-Titrant(E)

    Toxicity

    HYDRANAL-Composite sar e free of pyridineand2-methoxyethanol.DEGEEis non-hazardous

    unlike 2-MEwhich isfetotoxicandteratogenic(see ECETOC Technical Report No.17).

    Using HYDRANAL-CompositeWe recommendthefollowing procedure for

    titrationswithHYDRANAL-Composite(Figure 1):

    1. FilltheburettewithHYDRANAL-Composite2. AddHYDRANAL-MethanolRapidor

HYDRANAL-Methanoldryor HYDRANAL-CompoSolverE into the titration vessel

    3. TitratetheworkingmediumtodrynesswithHYDRANAL-Composite

    4. Addthe sample
