Alveston Village Despatch June-July 2017 Dear Villagers. Welcome to the summer edition of the Alveston Despatch. I joined the AVA committee last year and have been surprised and amazed at the diversity of issues the team are involved in, including the many planning issues and the potential of an Eastern Relief Road affecting us all. The one consistent sentiment within the committee is the absolute dedication for preserving the character and unique qualities of the village for future generations. There are many opportunities for villagers of all ages to get involved in volunteering. Please contact me or any committee members to see for yourself how the AVA works or put yourself forward to help with some of the many events running throughout the year. I look forward to seeing you at Alveston’s Great Get Together on 17th June. Chris Fox “WE HAVE MORE IN COMMON THAN THAT WHICH DIVIDES US” Let’s be Great Together! Swiffen Bank We had a very successful working party in May. Six villagers worked on the river bank and the top path. We will be installing two picnic tables on the lower bank so villagers can enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of this stretch of the river. Peter Gunnell Important - have your say Stratford upon Avon Neighbourhood Development Plan to 2031 Stratford Town Council has formally submitted its plans to the local Planning Authority for consideration. The draft plan is available on Stratford District Council’s website at www.stratford.gov.uk/stratfordnp Consultation is open until 7th July. The plan sets out a vision for the neighbourhood area and planning policies which will be used to determine planning applications. Lorry Watch! Lost lorries continue to be a nuisance in the village. Photo evidence is needed to challenge the hauliers.
