The combination of shrinking computer devices and increasing computer power has al lowed several companies to begin producing fashion jewellery with embedded intel l igence.

By the end of the decade, we could be wearing our computers instead of s itt ing in front of them.

with embedded intel l igence. “Digital jewel lery” can help you solve

problems l ike forgotten passwords and security badges.

Digital jewel lery,wil l be the evolution in digital technology that makes computer e lements entirely compatible with the human form .

They have the potential to be al l - in-one replacements for your driver’s l icense, key chain, business cards, credit cards, health insurance card, corporate security badge, and loose cash.

DIGITAL JEWELLERY AND ITS COMPONENTSSoon, “cel l phones” wil l take a totally new

form, appearing to have no form at al l .

Instead of one single device , cel l phones wil l be broken up into their basic components and packaged as various pieces of digital jewellery.

The various components that are inside a ce l l phone: Microphone, Receiver , Touch pad, Display, Circuit board, Antenna, and Battery.

wil l be the phone's receiver . Necklace - Users wil l talk into the necklace 's

embedded microphone. Ring - Perhaps the most interesting piece of the

phone, this "magic decoder r ing” is equipped with LEDs that flash to indicate an incoming call . It can also be programmed to f lash different colors to identify a particular caller or indicate the importance of a call .

Bracelet - Equipped with a video graphics array (VGA) display, this wrist display could also be used as a caller identif ier that f lashes the name and phone number of the caller .

IBM's magic decoder rings The same ring that

flashes for phone cal ls could also inform you that e-mail is pi l ing up in your inbox.

This f lashing alert could also indicate the urgency of the e-mail .

The mouse-r ing that IBM is developing wil l use the company's Track Point technology to wireless ly move the cursor on a computer-monitor display.

Track Point is the l itt le button embedded in the keyboard of some laptops

IBM Researchers have transferred Track Point technology to a r ing, which looks something l ike a black-pearl r ing.

On top of the bal l that r ing is a l itt le black users wil l move the cursor , in the same way that the TrackPoint button on a laptop is used.
