Schedule Changes
Please refer to the revised Class
Schedule on our website Each year API offers classes that will
inspire, educate and encourage
growth in students. We are very
excited about this year as we have the
most qualified, prepared staff we
have had since our opening. We also
have dedicated parents who realize
the importance of educating children
in various forms of the arts.
Although we try our best to make a
preliminary schedule so parents can
plan around it, we must base it on the
previous season’s classes but after the
first week we find we must
restructure some classes due to best
accommodate instructor & studio
space availability, student
participation and schedule conflicts.
Restructuring of classes should end
by September 31st since students will
done choosing classes. After
September 31st classes will only be
changed if we do not have enough
active participating students.
Although it is impossible to make a
studio schedule to meet everyone’s
needs we try our best to meet the
majority of our families’ needs.
Thank you for your patience and
understanding!!
Please refer to the updated
schedule posted on the back page of
this newsletter.
All class withdrawals must be
accompanied by a standard
withdrawal form at the studio.
Welcome to our API family and Season Seven of serving the
community through dance, music, tumbling! We are so blessed to have the opportunity to continue sowing the love for the arts
and the positive impact they have on children. Thank you for your support! You
can sense fall in the air and anticipation for another wonderful year beyond
expectations!

Musical Theatre 2 has a completely NEW format this year!! Completely NEW curriculum—First 9 weeks focus is on acting only; the
next 6 weeks the focus is singing and the third 6 weeks students will be
dancing their hearts out with the remaining time spent on preparing a
number for the June Production. Students will need to supply a folder
with brads to hold papers. They will have handouts so parents please ask
them if they have any papers for you. Most weeks students will have a
“Try this at home…” activity to involve their family in theatre fun!
Ballet 1, Wednesdays, 5-6pm We are so thankful for the overflow of little ballerinas in this class!!!
We have been so blessed that we have more students than space and it is
very important for each student to have a mat to effectively learn the
curriculum. We have added a second Ballet 1 class on Tuesdays,
5:30-6:30pm and are asking a couple parents to consider moving their
child to Tuesday’s class if it does not conflict with Tumbling 2 class.
Student Registration & Waiver
Forms Due Please remember that all Registration & Waiver Forms
are due upon registering your child. Children who
have not submitted their notarized waiver forms will
not be permitted to participate in classes due to
liability insurance requirements. No exceptions.
Classroom Etiquette Please read the Studio Handbook concerning Dress
Codes and Classroom Behavior. At API we
require students and teachers to dress in a
professional manner as this inspires children to take
their classes seriously and prepares them for a future
in the arts. Students are required to dress in the
proper dancewear and have hair secured neatly out of
face for all classes. Please remember that there are
specific reasons we require dress codes and hair
styles, for example: tights in ballet to keep muscles
warm and leotards to correct alignment; buns for
balance & safety; leggings to protect legs and keep
muscles warm.
Tuition & Other Payments
Tuition is based on an Annual Fee but for your convenience has been divided into 10 equal monthly
payments. Please remember that Tuition Payments are due on or before the 15th of each month. A $5
late fee on all accounts past due. Payments remain the same each month regardless of attendance, school
closures, holiday, etc. which permits students to miss for important school or family activities but still retain their
spot in a class.
At this time we can only receive payments by check or cash.
When writing a check, you may include all fees on a single check (for example, Tuition, Prism monthly
fee, costumes, hotel /convention fees, etc) however we ask that you please write a memo at the bottom of
your check to explain which item(s) your payment covers.
Please be sure to retrieve your receipt when paying cash and check to see all items are listed on receipt.
We must write receipts for all payments so if you wrote a check for payments you may request your
receipts.
Where/How Do I Make Payments?
1. You may make payments by placing them the Red PAYMENT BOX located on the
white shelves as you enter the front studio. If you are paying with cash, please put stu-
dents name and explanation of what payment covers on sealed envelope, then place it in
the Payment Box.
2. You may make payments by handing them to The Executive Director, Maureen
Yeager at the front desk when she is there or to Bethany Kalalau, the Artistic Director
(if she is not teaching a class) at 201 West Pike St.
3. You may place your payment in an envelope with child’s name and explanation of
what items the payment covers then drop it in the locked mailbox outside our studio door
at 201 W. Pike.
4. You may mail your payments to Altered Productions Institute, Inc, 201 West Pike St.,
Clarksburg, WV 26301
.
Senior Recital There never seems to be enough time during the
annual production to properly honor our graduating
seniors so we are trying something new this year!
Seniors will have the opportunity to participate in
their own “Annual Senior Recital” where their own
choreography will be highlighted. There will be a
brief interest meeting for Senior students and a
parent representative.
Meeting Date: Sunday, October 2nd, 6:30pm, API
studios.
NO SHOES PERMITTED ON DANCE
FLOORS Please remember to remove shoes before
entering the dancing areas of the studio. This
protects the floors and the dancers from things
that can be carried in on shoes. If students have
costly shoes/boots and would like to remove shoes
and carry them to the back they must set them on
paper towels (from bathroom) or bring a plastic
bag to put them in.
Thank YOU

Studio Snacks & Water The snacks and drinks are provided by staff members as part of their fund raising efforts for their
continuing education funds. API studios do not receive or manage money from the snack/water funds.
All funds collected are managed by the staff member(s) responsible for this fundraiser. We ask that all
students pay as they go on the “honor system”. In the past students were permitted to write their names on a
piece of paper and pay later, however, at the end of the season many names and amounts remained on the list,
therefore, we will reinstitute the “pay as you go, honor system”. Parents, you may want to keep change handy
to provide your child with snack / water funds.
Bring A Friend Week, September 26-30th
Students, do you have a friend that would like to try
dance but for some reason has not taken the steps to
register?? Well, now is the time to ask them!!!
Bring them as a friend to a “dance day” with you at
API during “Bring A Friend Week”. Its free and
fun!!
If you bring a new friend that ends up registering for
the season, you will receive one FREE COSTUME.
Tights & Leotards We have some black leotards and pink ballet tights in
stock. We will be placing orders for more at the end
of this month. Please fill out a Costume/Dance Wear
Order Form at the studio or call: 304-695-2905 to
place an order.
Share...Share...Share The best advertisement we can possibly have is when
parents, students and staff share our posts. We
started September with a “Share Dare” with the
prize being a gift card to a store of their choice for
the students or parents who shared a picture with the
student and the “First Class API 2016” frame. The
Gift Card winner is Kaylie Gower who shared over
300 times on social media. Thank you for your
support and please keep sharing our API posts.
This is the season for Clarksburg Fairs &
downtown High School Homecoming
Parades. I will keep you updated via email
and facebook on road closures/detours as I
receive the info from City Council.
Winter Dance Company Showcase &
Dance Intensive, January, 20-22, 2017

DANCE COMPANY MEMBERS Attention all dance company members

in full (registrations, shirt, bags) to the studio no later
than October 7th. Visit dancewv.org website for

Some advice to young dancers
and their parents too,
especially parents. Think
long-term when you are
making decisions. It's really
easy to fall into the trap of the
'Instafame Syndrome'. Stay
grounded. Invest in what will
last and bring meaning. That
includes excellent training
and education.

As parents it is important to find a safe &
nurturing environment for our children to develop
their love for the arts and education so their
creative gifts will blossom.
