The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College Alternative Education Curriculum Not all students can succeed doing ten or more Curriculum GCSEs. Some students are more suited to a more practical, vocational programme. The Alternative Pathways Curriculum Bromfords School: School based for three days a week in Year 10, and for three days a week in Year 11. These students will be working on courses which have target qualifications of GCSEs: Maths, English, Science, ICT, R.E, P.E, Citizenship, as well as additional recognised qualifications. Students work in a discrete group for some lessons and are fully integrated with the rest of their year group for form time and P.E. lessons. Vocational Training: Students will undertake vocational training. Prospects College, South Essex College, JET Hair Training and RallySport Engineering Academy work in conjunction with the Basildon, Billericay and Wickford (BBW) Consortium of Secondary Schools, who have designed courses for the pre-16 group with a view to these linking to post-16 education. Enrichment: Students have planned and undertaken activities during and outside of school time. These have included visits to the London careers exhibitions, further education institutions, bowling, Army activity day, Fire Service, Red Cross and Chelsea Football Club. South Essex Youth Service - Complementary Education. In Year 10 Pupils have the opportunity to participate in this programme supplied by the Essex Youth Service. It is a ten week programme which aims to help young pupils develop their confidence and self-esteem. Achievements are recognised and accredited through the ‘Personal & Social Development Award’ (ASDAN). Activities are organised to enhance learning opportunities and personal development and youth workers provide one-to-one and group support as appropriate. Work Experience: Students will undertake the whole year 10 group work placements in the summer term. Small classes. Dedicated facilities. A computer each. Support staff. “SUCCESS FOR ALL”
