Performance NotesIn May, 2001, I was invited to lead the worship for an ecumenical conference on the politics and economics of

globalization. The result of the conference was a set of clear challenges: 1) engage creatively with the decision makers

in your neighborhood, your town, your country; 2) embrace and promote a theology that inspires people to imagine a

new future; 3) work to create new economic institutions for our new global situation. If we do nothing, we will not have

a planet fit to hand on to our children.

To echo these challenges, “Alleluia! Raise The Gospel” was written. During the conference it was used both as a

processional song and as a Gospel greeting. It can be sung with or without verses. And the refrain can be sung with the

original text, or simply with “Alleluia” all the way through. An alternative set of verses is provided for use when the

refrain is used as a Gospel greeting Use drums if you have them And in all cases sing out with conviction!
