MASS INTENTION REQUESTS

Envelopes are located outside the parish office door. Masses

are generally offered in the order received. A Mass stipend is a

gift for the celebrating priest and forms part of your

participation in the sacrifice. The Diocese of Richmond

suggests a stipend of $10.00 per Mass. While a stipend is not a

donation, for our convenience, please make checks payable to

St. Joseph’s. Thank you.

1st Holy Communion and May Crowning

With great joy we announce our ceremonies will

take place on Sunday May 4th at the 11 am High

Mass. After Mass we will conduct a Rosary

Procession and will Crown Our Lady at the Fatima

Shrine. During the singing of the Litany of Loreto,

all will have a chance to offer flowers to our

Lady. This will be followed by a parish-wide pot-

luck lunch in which all are encouraged to

participate. Menu details will be published

later. We thank you in advance!

Retreat Day for the Communicants is Saturday, May

3rd, 9:00 to 12:00 Noon. Preparation for 1st

Confession is Sunday, April 27th, 9:45 AM.

Confirmation Details This Holy Sacrament will be celebrated on Sat. May 17th

at 10 am. Holy Mass will begin at 10 am, followed

immediately by the rite of Confirmation by Msgr.

Richard Lane. A lunch reception will follow at 12:30

pm. (All participating families will be asked to help with

the expense of this luncheon.) The preparation retreat

which will take place Sat. May 10th, 9 am to 2 pm, is

required of all candidates. Sponsors are welcome to

attend if they wish. Come Holy Spirit!

Ride Needed

James O’Reilly has requested assistance getting to

Mass on Sunday. He lives in the Colonial Heights

area. If you can help, please call him at 822-0276.

Divine Mercy Sunday We will have a program of prayer on Sunday ,

April 27th, in celebration of the Divine Mercy.

Blessing of the Divine Image at 1pm; followed

by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament; Singing

of the Divine mercy Chaplet; Benediction at

2:30pm; followed by the veneration of our image

of the Divine Mercy. Confession available during

adoration time. Richly indulgenced. Mercy is a

complement of the Easter mysteries of Jesus

Christ, a motive for His self donation, a fruit of

them for us. The novena began on Good Friday;

pamphlets available on the back table. The chap-

let renews the offering of the Mass itself.

Happy Easter! The generosity of our God, to send His only

begotten Son, not just to be the shepherd of the

sheep—already an ineffable condescension—

but Himself to be the lowliest lamb who is

slain to save the life of all the others of the

flock. This condescension is the greatest possi-

ble—greater love than this hath no man—but

how much love for God? Indeed, greater love

still, and a great mystery. Rejoice! This is our

great God! This generosity inspires the gift of

the Eucharist! And many other gifts besides.

On behalf of Fr. Marsolle and Fr. McNeely,

may your hearts sing the Easter Alleluia! - Fr. Novokowsky
