• A uniquely creative spirit, Elvin Bishop is an exceptional guitarist, talented songwriter, and sly humorist who has remained one of the most treasured artists of the ’60s blues-rock explosion.

• After graduation from high school, Oklahoma-born Bishop moved to Chicago and met Paul Butterfield. The two explored the blues joints in the campus area, catching performances by the giants of the blues genre like Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Otis Rush, Magic Sam, and Howlin’ Wolf.

• In 1968 he headed to the San Francisco area, where he became a regular at the famed Fillmore jam sessions, playing alongside Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and B.B. King. After signing to Capricorn Records his career took off to stellar heights when he charted with Travelin’ Shoes before releasing his memorable single, “Fooled Around And Fell In Love,” which peaked at #3 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop chart and reached #34 in the British hit parade in 1976.

• After a seven-year recording hiatus, Elvin returned to his blues roots in 1988, signing with Alligator Records. Between 1988 and 2000 he released five albums on the legendary Chicago-based label. The tracks on this compilation were carefully selected from Bishop’s Alligator Records releases, which at the time of their original release received consistent critical acclaim as well as enjoying commercial success.
