The Lightning Car Company, the British developer of The Lightning electric Grand Tourer supercar, today announces

its intention to raise approximately £15.5 million (before expenses). The funds will be invested in completing the final two phases of the Company’s evolution, programme development and technical validation, taking the Lightning to full production as early as Spring 2012.

TLCC was founded in early 2007 to brand, design and build a luxury electric supercar in the high margin, lower volume Grand Tourer (“GT”) segment, currently overlooked by major manufacturers. The Lightning GT was conceived to bring together classic British styling with world leading engineering under an evocative “made in Britain” brand that sets a new benchmark for luxurious design, build and performance. Once fully established, the Company will be the first new British prestige automotive marque for mainstream production in Britain since the 1940’s.

The Lightning combines high end performance and a real world operating range with a luxury finish. The initial rear wheel drive launch car, driven by a German sourced powertrain with twin inboard-mounted electric motors, will deliver 400 BHP, with an acceleration of 0-60mph in under 5 seconds and a governed top speed of 125mph, making The Lightning one of, if not the fastest electric vehicle on the market. Advanced 44kWh Lithium Titanate batteries provide a touring range of over 150 miles, which can be boosted to 225 miles with an optional range extender.

The prototype Lightning was launched, to critical media and industry acclaim, in the summer of 2008 at the British Motor Show by a small start-up team of automotive design, engineering and marketing experts. The Company has since grown as an Automotive Design Engineering and Prototype Technology Studio that is bringing together a highly experienced UK automotive leadership team and world leading automotive partners across mainland Europe and the US who themselves have made the necessary investment to homologate, supply and build the car to the necessary prestige standards of finish. By bringing together established independent automotive partners as a project team, the Company differentiates itself from the major OEMs building electric and low emission vehicles. This dynamic partnership has already delivered a highly accelerated research, design and production schedule which the next phase of funding will further quicken.

TLCC’s world leading technology partners include:• IDIADA (Spain - data engineering and homologation);• AGV (Netherlands - chassis and prototype building);• Altairnano (USA – batteries); and• Coventry-based CPP (UK - assembly, painting and finishing).

The Lightning brand itself is seen as a critical long-term value component. The name is memorable, evocative and is protected in the UK and mainland Europe as a trade mark for automotive use. The trade mark is being invested in for the long-term as a durable international automotive brand. The Company has, alongside the car build programme prioritized a brand development, registration and protection programme of the English Lightning name for relevant automotive classes in key worldwide markets.

TLCC’s collaborative approach has helped to minimise development risk, control funding requirements and enhance profit potential, for instance by avoiding the need for bespoke manufacturing facilities. Once the GT model is in production, it is planned to rapidly exploit the Lightning platform and TLCC’s flexible manufacturing model for a 4WD version of the GT. Financial risk is further offset by strong pre-marketing reservations totalling more than £3.0 million.

The timing for the car’s launch comes on the wave of stimulus programmes that have emerged around the world since the lead given by the Obama administration on electric vehicles (“EVs”) in 2009, delivered a major global impetus to the EV sector for low emission transport technologies. Closer to home, the UK Government is demonstrating its support for electric vehicles with a range of initiatives such as: The Plug-In Car Grant; vehicle excise duty reductions; congestion charge exemption and subsidized parking.

The Lightning will be hand built in conjunction with Coventry Prototype Panels (“CPP”) in numbers limited to 250 per annum. CPP has undertaken projects on behalf of clients such as Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Dutch super-car manufacturer Spyker.

Iain Sanderson, Chairman of TLCC, said: “This significant fund raising comes at a pivotal phase in the development of The Lightning and complements our strong advanced order book which has already reached over £3.0 million in sales value for the concept alone. We believe that the Lightning will become a benchmark in the electric performance car market. As the first new British luxury car marque for 60 years, the Lightning represents a modern day perspective on the UK car industry and how Britain can take the lead to make it a global force in the automotive industry once again.”“Our focus on risk-sharing with leading automotive technology partners, and co-developing a flexible supply chain, has enabled us to reach advanced prototype stage in a fraction of the time and cost it would take a major OEM. With this clear and robust structure in place we are now eager to bring to production a luxury GT car that is equally desirable and innovative as it is environmentally sound.”Brendan O’Toole, Managing Director of CPP added: "We are delighted to be working with Lightning on such a prestigious project. Coventry has a proud automotive history and we believe the Lightning car will further enhance that record."

Spanish ancestries - which is evident everywhere you look. Torrentes, a floral white varietal, is the most well-known wine from this region and another Argentinian export that’s been increasingly making its mark in the industry. The Torrentes I’ve tried had the aroma of roses and tasted of pears and some spice, all of which makes for sense-sational experience.

Patios de Cafayate’s surroundings are nothing less than cinematic, from the opulent gardens to the traditional architecture and antique colonial patios. It’s a special place anyone would want to escape to, and the WineSpa, something every guest needs to indulge in. There’s a menu of vinotherapy treatment options to choose from, including facials, massages, and Cabernet wine baths where you’re enclosed in glass walls so you can soak the vineyard’s sights as the rest of you soaks in the wine. Its main objective is "to promote relaxation, health, pleasure, and rejuvenation applying body and facial treatments, based on the culture and traditional wealth of Calchaquíes Valleys."

The best time to go? March is harvest month, and the entire town celebrates its hard work in style. It’s an event that’s sure to include plenty of wine for the weary workers, as well as the visiting vine travelers.

you can find at inexpensive prices that make it an accessible option for all. Mendoza city and province, located in northern-central part of Argentina, is where you’ll encounter a large majority of the country’s Malbec makers; but right now it’s what you’ll find in the northwest province of Salta, in the town of Cafayate, that’s quenching my thirst for relaxation and revitalization.

Patios de Cafayate Hotel & Spa, a member of the Starwood Luxury Collection, is located in a serene setting on the same grounds as the state-of-the-art El Esteco Winery. Sitting 1,700 meters above sea level, it offers an elegant experience for the wine traveler with breathtaking views of the Calchaquí Valley vineyards, excellent accommodation and cuisine, and of course, bottles to drink and bathe in. A historic manor is the central fixture of the property, which is nicely combined with modern amenities abound.

The region is home to a number of wineries that provide guided tasting tours, and it is steeped in a rich history that meshes Incan and

Alexandra Nechita began working in pen and ink at the age of two. By age five she had graduated to watercolors. At seven she was using oils and acrylics. She has successfully broken the million dollar level. Her first show was in 1994, and today she has over 300 paintings. At age twelve, Alexandra is painting at a level comparable to such greats as Picasso and Matisse.

In Whoopi Goldberg's opinion, "The thumbprint of the Great One is on her."Alexandra Nechita's first exhibit was a one-woman (child) show held at a Los Angeles-area public library when she was just eight years old. Her talent was instantly recognized as capacity crowds came to see the "petite Picasso" as the press had labeled her. She was immediately offered an exhibit at the prestigious (non-profit) Mary Paxon Gallery where the exhibit attracted the attention of legitimate art critics and the media who began telling the world about this rarest of child prodigies - an abstract cubist painter who had only recently turned nine years old.

Over the following months, Alexandra was invited to one exhibit after another. As she neared her tenth birthday, she had already held an astonishing eight solo exhibits and her talent was quickly being recognized by an art world astonished by her virtuosity.

At the ripe old age of eleven, Alexandra's career elevated to a level unimaginable for all but the truest of art masters. She became one of the most recognized artists on the world. Her exhibits attracted capacity crowds and her paintings sold out to hordes of eager collectors as quickly as she created them.

A remarkable tribute to its heritage, Girard-Perregaux has unveiled a white gold version of its Bi-axial Tourbillon which will take devotees of rare mechanisms and designs through a marvellous journey...

The origins of the Bi-axial Tourbillon stretch back to a centuries-old quest: the one for precision in time measurement. At the start of the 19th century, chronometry was marked by a decisive invention: the Tourbillon. This device could compensate for rate irregularities due to the Earth's gravity in upright positions, by means of a mobile cage bearing the regulating part of the watch. The La Chaux-de-Fonds watchmaker Constant Girard-Perregaux incorporated this device into his watches and after years of research presented the famous Tourbillon with three gold Bridges, which was awarded a gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889.

Directly inspired by this tradition, Girard-Perregaux has presented another spectacular creation: the Bi-axial Tourbillon, combining two concentric cages, enables the regulating part to make multi-dimensional rotations. Visible both via the dial and the case-back, the complex mechanism has an astounding delicacy. This genuine aerial ballet offers an extraordinary spectacle, while the alternation of positions enables excellent rate precision.

The construction of this astonishingly modern piece is enhanced by an aesthetic that instantly evokes the Girard-Perregaux tradition. This straight and finely hollowed bridge version was inspired in particular by a pocket watch created in the 1860s. The tribute to the master watchmaker can be found in every detail of the Bi-axial Tourbillon

finishes: the elliptical decoration on the barrel reproduces the pattern on Constant Girard's pocket watch. The bridges are satin-finished, and their bevels are carefully hand polished, to achieve a flawless finish and a completely clean bevel on this tiny precious metal element. After lavish attentions, the majestic forty-five millimeter diameter white gold case is ready to receive the Tourbillon mechanism.

The history of Girard-Perregaux brought to life in both the aesthetics and technology of the Bi-axial Tourbillon. Everything comes together to make this Haute Horlogerie creation an exceptional model. Even the number of pieces, with just thirty-three to be released.

Focus on the Bi-axial TourbillonThe Bi-axial Tourbillon combines two concentric cages and enables the regulating part to make multi-dimensional rotations. An internal cage bearing the balance, balance spring and escapement completes one turn on its axis in forty-five seconds. An external cage completes one revolution in one minute and fifteen seconds, enabling a rotation on its second axis. A full revolution is completed in three minutes and forty-five seconds. The two cages weigh just 0.80 grams, yet comprise a total of over one hundred and ten components. A combination of gold, steel and titanium, the cage materials were chosen to provide the best balance and greatest performance.

Confirming its avowed intention to develop women’s watches that are both elegant and technical, Girard-Perregaux has provided this timekeeper with an automatic winding movement which, as well as the “hours of the world” function, displays a

power reserve indicator and a small seconds hand. The movement can be admired through the transparent case back.

Girard-Perregaux ww.tc - Lady

"This genuine aerial ballet offers an extraordinary spectacle, while the alternation of positions enables excellent rate precision."

Globe-trotting is no longer the reserve of the male domain, as evidenced by the ww.tc - Lady. This charmingly curvaceous watch complication beats to the rhythm of today’s adventuresses, by offering the simple, simultaneous display of local time and the other time zones.

Tireless travellers or international businesswomen? The whole planet is their oyster. From a meeting in Tokyo to an inauguration in Los Angeles, the ww.tc - Lady accompanies them through their itinerant lives. On its dial, a disc indicating the 24 hours is synchronised with the hour hand. Then the second mobile disc, which indicates the names of the 24 cities –one for each time zone–, simply has to be adjusted accordingly. This variation of the collection ww.tc embodies all aspects of the feminine personality, from the dynamism generated by other time zones, to a sweet sensuality.

Before this watch, the world’s hours had never been expressed so seductively. 54 diamonds cover the bezel, whilst eight others emphasize the hours on the dial. Their clarity enhances the color chosen for the dial and the matching strap, which can be a stunning white, but also pink, blue, brown or black, according to one’s desire. At 41 mm, it has an imposing diameter, the case having been carefully designed in order that the lugs wrap themselves snugly around the wrist.

Red Bull Finds its Wings at Hangar-7Prestigiously placed next to the Salzburg Airport in Austria sits one of Salzburg’s top, contemporary attractions, Hangar-7. This impressive airport hanger museum was built by aircraft enthusiast, billionaire, and Red Bull’s founder, Dietrich Mateschitz’s.

The massive glass dome’s construction began in 2001 with the intention to privately house Mateschitz’s extensive airplane collection, consisting of large historic and contemporary planes, a few helicopters, as well as some of his Red Bull racing cars. When the building finally opened in 2003, the gorgeous and impressive collection and innovative design of the building was nothing Mateschitz wanted to keep secret. The interesting architecture experiments with playful line arrangements. From the outside view, it resembles a glass aircraft wing and the entire building is made up of twelve hundred tons of steel. 380 tons of custom-made glass from was shipped from China, and no two pieces are exactly like the others in the 1,754 glass window collection, making this imposing spherical design a spectacle for tourists to visit from all over the world.

The museum now hosts numerous, elaborate concerts, art exhibits, and an extensive collection of Mateschitz’s airplane fleets for tourists, free of charge. Visitors can also relax at the swanky Restaurant Ikarus, seize the moment at Carpe Diem Lounge & Café, and sip on cocktails at either Mayday Bar or ThreeSixty Bar.

Restaurant Ikarus is named after the Greek mythology’s story of a young boy named Icarus whose attempt to fly to the sun is plundered when his feather and wax-adorned shoes melt from the sun’s heat. The restaurant is run by celebrity cook, Eckhart Witzigmann, features a guest chef each month, adding variety to the restaurant’s delicious cuisine. Because the seating is limited to 40 people at a time, reservations are necessary when eating at this popular restaurant.

Below Ikarus on the ground floor is Carpe Diem Lounge & Café. The awe-inspiring design of the lounge turns a simple espresso and dessert into an incredible sensory experience. With their featured “cake in a glass” desserts, customers can choose from a variety of flavors, including their Sour cherry-Nyangbo-Panna cotta cake and their Poppy seed-apple cake. There is always something new to experience.

High above the ground floor is a whole other experience for its guests and helps to conclude an exquisite evening. With

spectacular views of the featured aircrafts and racing cars, are Hangar-7’s ThreeSixty and Mayday Bars. These bars offer a medley of international cocktails and focuses on nutritional fares, known as Smart Foods. Indulge in the choices between their featured

Brain Food, Beauty Food and Mood Food. Because the hangar wants to encapsulate the experience, both Mayday and ThreeSixty are the first bars in Salzburg to impose a smoking ban in the bar. Operating under the philosophy that airports and aircrafts ban smoking, they offer Arnie’s Cigar Lounge across from the bars, providing stylish décor and plush leather chairs to the experience.

Whether visitors are enthusiastic about Red Bull’s collection of aircrafts, intrigued by the avant-

garde décor and architecture, or even attracted to the venue’s contemporary cuisines, this venue is beyond any experience. This is no normal hangar—it is Salzburg’s most popular attraction which sits near the city’s airport. It will be any visitor’s enjoyable destination before their final destination.
