Green Tag™ is a third party, green building and other products rating and certification system, underpinned by rigorous scientific and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) processes. Its advanced, robust LCA certification methodology developed exclusively by ecospecifier, is a world first.

The Green Tag™ ecolabel rating positions a product within the top end of the green product market.

Green Tag™ BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD or PLATINUMIs the new benchmark in green product certification. It is an ‘umbrella’ system with two separate Certification systems contained in the Standard.

Green Tag™ LCARateA detailed life cycle assessment (LCA) rating of the product compared to the worst case business as usual (BAU) product commonly available in the market. This rating is reflected by a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum rating as well as an Ecopoint numerical value. Fully Audited LCA is recognised by a PLUS designation within the logo.

LCARate is a world first program that is underpinned by the world’s first Building Information Modelling (BIM) based LCA tool and enables industry wide rapid eco-profiling of buildings using branded product LCA from Green Tag™. LCADesign for ecospecifier: a revolutionary, new rapid building eco-profiling tool.

In 2011, ecospecifier will launch a unique eco-profiling system to conduct whole of life rapid eco-profiling assessment of buildings using branded product LCA.

LCADesign, which enables whole of life cycle impacts to be evaluated in one single BIM (Building Information Model) process is currently available through ecospecifier for project use in generic product mode or on a consulting basis. From 2010, specific branded product libraries will be available to cost efficiently and quickly undertake eco-profiles that include raw material, manufacture, operational, maintenance and end of life analysis of buildings including carbon intensity and greenhouse impacts.

As well as simplifying the specification process, it paves the way for design scenario alternatives generation using different combinations of materials and products to create more efficient building design, less health and environmental impacts. Green Tag™ & the BIM Connection


Due to global pressure for greener buildings and products, there is an increasing demand for holistic building, infrastructure and product design strategy that automates and speeds up eco-assessment using real time software.

As discussed previously, GreenTag™ is underpinned by the world’s first Building Information Modelling (BIM) based life cycle assessment (LCA) engine LCADesign™.

LCADesign (Life Cycle Assessment) is also the world’s only BIM based simulation software that allows the rapid, automated comparison of environmental values and materials risks of different scenarios during the design of a building, infrastructure and the only one that operates at the product level with branded product data.

BIM based software and LCADesign™ are increasingly used by Governments (e.g. QLD Project Services) and major developers and corporates within the industry because of the benefits they provide in using a single building or product model to automate processes such as:
