Dear all,

It was lovely to see so many of you at our Christmas pantomime ‘Cinderella’. I am sure you will

agree it was amazing and I am so pleased that so many of you want to get involved in performing

when you come to All Saints’.

You all continue to excel at sport and the gymnastics we saw here was amazing. Well done to all

of you who took part.

I am really looking forward to seeing the Rainforest work you are completing as

part of the art project. I am sure you are working really hard for the exhibition.

Everyone here at All Saints’ would like to wish you a very merry and

holy Christmas.

This year we have introduced a new programme

to All Saints’ called Commando Joe’s. The

programme is a great opportunity for our

students to develop strong communication styles

and a positive approach to problem solving.

Commando Joe’s has motivated our students to work as a team and to

experience military based activities which they are thoroughly enjoying.

The groups meet once a week and have participated in a range of sessions including the ‘Crazy

Crane’ where students had to work together as part of a team and use speed and accuracy to

complete the task. The students have also been set a challenge by the Commando to build a

bridge for aid to be delivered to a village. They had to design the bridge on paper thinking about

legs, supports, height and width, make their bridge and then test their bridge to see whose could

carry the most weight. For more

information about Commando Joe’s

please visit our school community

webpage which is updated with

information about what our students

have been doing.

Audiences were

treated to a

spectacular

performance, in

the amazing

pantomime

production of

Cinderella.

Olivia Whittaker

played

Cinderella, Amie Oundsworth Prince Charming, Angelika Brzeska the Fairy Godmother and Mr

Kearney and Mr Hardy looked perfect as the ugly sisters.

The success of the show is down to all the hard work from the cast and crew over the last few

months. Many thanks go to Mrs Pearce and Mrs Elizaga for directing the show and to Mr

Stanton for his musical direction and to all the other students, staff & parents who helped to

make the show a success. We are looking forward to the next amazing show in the summer.

Students from St Patrick's, St Joseph's (Shirebrook),

St Joseph's (Boughton) and St Philip Neri, came to a

special Gymnastics Festival at All Saints', bringing

their gifts and talents and to give an insight into

teamwork at All Saints'. Firstly, they were separated

into 8 groups: conditioning and flexibility, vaulting,

turns and rotation, trampolining, flight, group balances

and single balances. Each station was mentored by one

of our gifted students. After lunch, the leaders of

each group developed a floor routine, applying what

they had previously learnt. The leaders helped the

children to complete their routines which were shown

at the end in front of all the other groups. Medals and

certificates were presented to each student for

excellence and hard work. Well done to all who took

part, you did yourselves proud.

Report written by Charlie Marshall in Year 8

Well done to all our Bronze Award students in Year 9, who

have successfully completed their first training day.

The students got their first taste of being on an expedition

by taking part in a 4 hour walk around Sherwood Forest. In

small groups of 6 - 12, and

under the guidance and

supervision of a safety

officer, the students

practised their map

reading and compass skills.

All those involved behaved

impeccably, they will now

plan their routes for their practice and final expeditions next

year, where they will be remotely supervised during a two day period of walking and camping,

before this they will also take part in a second training walk with staff.

This term All Saints’ hosted two Family of Schools

festivals which were organised and lead by All

Saints’ Students. The Year 6 Football Festival

joined together 250 students from St Philip Neri,

Holy Trinity, St Joseph’s, Boughton, Holy Family and

St Patrick’s. In the morning the students took part

in a skills circuit where they had chance to develop

their techniques and tactics in preparation for the

competition that was to follow. In the afternoon all

schools battled to see who would take home the

Family of School’s trophy. After an eventful 2 hours

the results were as follows; 1st St Philip Neri, 2nd

Holy Trinity, 3rd Holy Family, 4th St Joseph’s, 5th St Patrick’s. Well done to all the leaders for

their hardwork and to the FA skills coaches for their support.

The Year 5 multi-sports festival brought

together four of our feeder schools, Holy

Trinity, St Patrick’s, St Philip Neri and St

Joseph’s.

Throughout the day students took part in skills

to develop their Handball, Football and Netball

skills. Despite the rain the event was still a

success, with St Patrick’s being crowned the

overall champions at the end of the day. Many

thanks to All Saints’ leaders for their hard work,

perseverance and motivation.
