All Saints CE (Aided) Primary School and Nursery Newsletter [email protected] www.allsaints.wokingham.sch.uk 24 May 2019 Dear Parents/Carers Well, you know summer has definitely arrived when swimming starts. The pool is looking fabulous as usual and by the me you read this newsleer, every child from Recepon to Y6 will have had a swim. I would like to say a big thank you for the contribuons towards the costs of running the pool. It is a privilege to have our own pool and it is your donaons that help to keep it up and running. If you listened carefully last Thursday morning, you would have heard the collecve sigh of relief as Year 6 finished their KS2 SATs. The papers were challenging as expected but with perseverance as a school value, our children made the most of every available minute. On Tuesday evening I popped over to Aston Clinton, where many of Y6 are currently taking part in their residenal trip. They are having a great me climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, orienteering etc. Everyone is facing new challenges, supporng each other and working as a team. The children were buzzing with excitement as they shared their experiences. Dont forget to check the website for the most up to date news! On Thursday morning, I was lucky enough to cover the acvity week task (for Y5 and Y6). The children went into our grounds to collect materials from nature, which they then used in a sculpture or piece of art. Their work was inspired by the famous arst Andy Goldsworthy, although the art created by All Saints pupils was much more imaginave of course! Sadly, we are saying goodbye to Miss Hodgkinson who is about to embark on a trip to Australia and New Zealand before commencing teacher training in September. It has been a pleasure to have her in the All Saints family and we wish her every success for the future. Finally, I would like to remind you again of the importance of good aendance and punctuality. Our aendance for this academic year is one of the lowest in the borough, but I believe we can get it back up towards the Government guidelines of 96% if we all work together to keep our children in school. A final thought: Be punctual because one thing you cant recycle is wasted me. Yours sincerely, Mrs Tracey Stanton Headteacher Our overarching theme for this year is : who you are tomorrow begins with what you do today

Dear Parents/Carers

Well, you know summer has definitely arrived when swimming starts. The pool is looking fabulous as usual and by the time you read this newsletter, every child from Reception to Y6 will have had a swim. I would like to say a big thank you for the contributions towards the costs of running the pool. It is a privilege to have our own pool and it is your donations that help to keep it up and running.

If you listened carefully last Thursday morning, you would have heard the collective sigh of relief as Year 6 finished their KS2 SATs. The papers were challenging as expected but with perseverance as a school value, our children made the most of every available minute.

On Tuesday evening I popped over to Aston Clinton, where many of Y6 are currently taking part in their residential trip. They are having a great time climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, orienteering etc. Everyone is facing new challenges, supporting each other and working as a team. The children were buzzing with excitement as they shared their experiences. Don’t forget to check the website for the most up to date news!

On Thursday morning, I was lucky enough to cover the activity week task (for Y5 and Y6). The children went into our grounds to collect materials from nature, which they then used in a sculpture or piece of art. Their work was inspired by the famous artist Andy Goldsworthy, although the art created by All Saints pupils was much more imaginative of course!

Sadly, we are saying goodbye to Miss Hodgkinson who is about to embark on a trip to Australia and New Zealand before commencing teacher training in September. It has been a pleasure to have her in the All Saints family and we wish her every success for the future.

Finally, I would like to remind you again of the importance of good attendance and punctuality. Our attendance for this academic year is one of the lowest in the borough, but I believe we can get it back up towards the Government guidelines of 96% if we all work together to keep our children in school.

A final thought: ‘Be punctual because one thing you can’t recycle is wasted time’.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Tracey Stanton

Recycling

We are pleased to announce that our new classroom recycling bins have arrived to replace the old cardboard bins that were falling apart. These were purchased using ‘Green Redeem’ funding: they look super smart and will help us recycle for years to come. Don’t forget, we are part of Green Redeem again this year.

STEM FAIR

A group of ten year 3/4 children were able to attend the Evendons STEM fair on 23 May. There were many exciting exhibits. Some of the children's favourite parts were seeing robots a group of year 7 children had made, baking on a fire pit, seeing a variety of different rocks, respiratory life saving equipment and just seeing all the exciting exhibits set up.

We’d love to win £5,000 for our school library – please nominate our school, using the link below.
