    All Rubber Profile

    History

All Rubber was founded by Olivio and Maria DAngelo in

1971 in Western Australia . Originally a wholly owned family

business it was initially involved in the transport industry, with

a fleet of trucks moving freight to the mines in the North West

    of Western Australia.

In conjunction with the transport operations, a business was

established with the recycling of second-hand conveyor belts

and other materials generated as waste products in mining

    operations. Conventional disposal techniques consisted

primarily of burying, and sometimes burning these materials,

    causing pollution and environmental concerns.

An ongoing operation was developed by All Rubber with the

use of our internationally patented machinery to recycle steel

cord and fabric-reinforced belts. The durable belt covers are

manufactured into Mudflaps, Industrial Matting, Truck

Mudguards and Flooring, and also reused as lighter Conveyor

Belting. This exclusive machinery to remove the rubber covers

from the reinforcing substrates is marketed by All Rubber

    worldwide.

In 1980 the company focused exclusively on the rubber

business with the securing of conveyor belt service contracts

with companies such as Alcoa, Pioneer, and Metro Brick in

Western Australia. An intensive Research and Development

program was established to produce Australian made products

to service the mining and quarrying, and transport industries.

This was a vital step for industry in Western Australia as an

Import Replacement Initiative, as most rubber related

adhesives and machinery were imported from Germany,

Canada and Malaysia. The R & D program developed our range

of products now being manufactured by All-Rubber directly,

or by its joint venture partners.

This exclusive range of products has lead to significant, and

expanding export sales to countries such as the U.K., U.S.A,

South Africa, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Philippines,

    Indonesia, India, and Chile.

Joint Ventures have been established in selected countries toallow technology transfer for the manufacture of various

products in a lower labour cost environment. This ensures we

can supply a competitively priced, high quality product.

Between 2000 and 2002 an input of capital increased

production capacity and efficiency in the Malaga Factory and

additional new products were brought into the product range,

most notably; Screen Mats, Rubber and Ceramic Lagging ,

    Strip Lagging and Moulded Products.

In 2003 All Rubber acquired Wesbelt Pty. Ltd., a company

providing services and products in the conveyor belt and rubber

lining industries in Western Australia. In 2004 All Rubber

acquired a 25% share in the operations of East Coast Rubber

who supply All Rubbers products, services and technology to

    the mining industry in Queensland.

    Company Structure

The majority of shares are held by the original founders, the

DAngelo family. The remaining shares are held by private

interested parties and by key employees predominantly

    involved in company management.

All Rubber currently employs 50-60 staff, and has an annual

turnover in excess of $A16 Million (2005/06) with average

    annual growth of approximately 40%.

    Splicing

Hot splicing capabilities with The Falcon press in all branches

ensure the latest vulcanizers are used for in-situ splicing with

full safety equipment. Water or air-pressurized units with a

capability of up to 200 PSI, and maximum bias dimension of

2400mm, allows for the splicing of steel cord, fabric or solid

woven steel cord belts in excess of 2000mm wide.

The Falcon press easily breaks down into smaller sections

ideally suited for a range of different belt widths.

We have spot repair presses, P.V.C. splicing presses and many

additional rubber splicing presses. All of our presses are of

advanced design and proven in the field. Rubber lining of

chutes, hoppers, pipes, idlers and various other items is carried

    out in our factory

    premises, in Perth. All

    aspects of cold and hot

    bonding of rubber to

    steel (or other surfaces)

    is achieved and

    guaranteed.

    Lining & Lagging

All Rubber uses and recommends rubber lining materials; in

conjunction with Konprim metal primer and Kontact adhesives,

to achieve the most effective cold vulcanizing bond.

    All metal surfaces are

    sandblasted in accordance

    with Australian standards,

    prior to treatment with

    Konprim metal primer.

    Lagging of pulleys can be

carried out in the field or

    on site.

Kolag pulley lagging sheets or strips are used in this

application. Kolag lagging material consists of a bonding layer

to promote bond strength. The joint can then be effected by

and overlap method, or using a two directional filler rubber

    technique. Kolag lining

    material is manufactured with

    an embossed diamond patter

to facilitate water dispersionand assist belt traction.

Idlers and pulleys can be hot

    or cold lined and machine

    ground to be perfectly

    concentric.

    Polyurethane

In addition to rubber lining of steel surfaces, All Rubber has

perfected techniques of bonding polyurethane to steel, and

rubber. Spray or casting methods can be used to apply the

polyurethane, to give greater wear, heat and chemical resistance

    in specific applications.

    Technical Services

We have a full manufacturing capability and give technical

    backup to all customers,

    allowing direct access to a

    team of rubber chemists,

    rubber technologists and

    engineers that can assist to

    resolve problematic mine

    issues especially with rubber

    lining, conveyor beltcompounds, screening and

    any areas involving rubber.

Training Courses- Splicing, Lining and Vulcanizing

This course is a comprehensive overview of the rubber industry,

and will produce trained individuals with a greater

understanding of the nature of rubber, its processing and uses.

Catering primarily for the needs of companies involved in

servicing the mining industry, it is designed to produce

competent employees in the fields of rubber moulding, rubber

processing, conveyor belt servicing and rubber lining. It does

not deal with the tyre industry.

The All Rubber training course is designed to meet the needs

of a rapidly growing industry, and address a dramatic shortfall

in training currently being conducted. The course is designed

to provide a standard of training for students, which can be

    recognized in the industry worldwide.

The current lack of structured training has resulted in poor

practices being adopted by employees, who often have limited

understanding of the machinery they are operating, or

    chemicals and compounds employed.

The structure and content material is presented in collaboration

with Wesbelt. Approximately half of the course will be spent

in class contact hours, and the other half will be spent on

practical assignment and hands on training. The lecturers and

practical instructors will be provided predominantly by All

    Rubber and Wesbelt.

At the end of each completed module, a final evaluation and

appraisal will be conducted, and a pass or fail grade will be

issued. If students fail any individual module, then it must be

repeated before they are able to graduate. Upon successful

completion of all units, students will be presented with a

    certificate of graduation.

Lecturers and instructors include the following:

Stephen Grant B.Sc., Hon. (Course Coordinator)

    Stephen DAngelo B.Sc., Dip. Ed,

    Neil Honiball M.Sc.

    Ajith Senewiratne L.P.R.I. (Lond),

    Priming Agents

    Konprim- ARK 220 Cover Coat

    Introduction

Konprim bonding agents are widely used in the rubber industry

as adhesives for bonding unvulcanised natural and synthetic

elastomers to metals, fabrics and other rigid substrate during

vulcanisation of the elastomer. They are used in products such as

Oil seals, Auto mounts, Rubber linings, Rice rolls, Vibration

insulators, Rollers, Solid tyres, Belting and other rubber to metal

    bonded products.

Because of the increase in the use of rubber in engineering

elements of the automobile, railway, aircraft, and machine industry,

strong bonds between rubber and metal are needed. The role of

Bonding Agents such as Konprim is thus becoming more and more

important. Konprim ARK 220 is a highly versatile adhesive usually

used along with Konprim ARK 205 as primer. It can also be used

as a single coat adhesive for polymers like NR, SBR and CR

(chloroprene). The Two Coat System (Konprim ARK 205 as

primer and Konprim 220 as cover coat) produces bonds that are

outstandingly resistant to all kinds of environmental conditions

and corrosion and capable of withstanding extreme static and

dynamic stresses. Konprim ARK 205 & 220 can be used to bond

various elastomers to a wide variety of substrates

    Rubbers

Natural Rubber (NR), SBR, PBR, Nitrile Rubber (NBR),

    Chloroprene Rubber (CR), Chloro-sulfonated Polyethylene

    (CSM).

    Metals

Steel, Stainless Steel, cast iron and its alloys, Aluminum and its

alloys, Copper and its alloys, brass, etc.

    Preparation of the Metal Surface

This is the most critical and important step for any rubber to metal

bonding application. Creation of a thoroughly clean metal surface

is the foremost requirement for a good bond. The metal surface

should be properly cleaned of all contaminants such as oil, grease,

rust, scales, dirt, etc. Initially surface coatings.

cross-linking agent which bonds particularly well to rubber and metal surfaces.

When mixed with Kontact Cold Vulcanizing Adhesive it will ensure that the bond formed is

much stronger and less susceptible to chemical attack.

After the Activator solution has been added to Kontact Cold Vulcanizing Adhesive the mixture

will have a limited pot life. As the viscosity rises the adhesive will become increasingly difficult

    to process.

Therefore, for best results, use the mixture as soon as possible. Discard it when mixed for longer

    than one hour.

    Redox- Buffing Primer (Part A)

Redox is a two part rubber priming solution. Used extensively in the rubber lining

industry as a pretreatment agent for conditioning and preparing the rubber for cold

bonding. It reacts chemically with the surface of the rubber to give a better bond with

Kontact cold vulcanizing adhesives, and removing the need for abrasive buffing.

Application: Pour the contents of Redox Part B powder into the container of Part A

solvent. Shake gently to mix, and apply to the rubber with a cloth or nylon brush (DO

NOT contact with metal parts or containers). Ensure proper caution is taken when

handling as described in the MSDS.

Once Redox has been applied to the rubber surface, the cold vulcanizing cement can

be applied within a minimum of 5 minutes or maximum of 1 hour later.

After mixing parts A & B together the product has a maximum shelf life of 3 months.
