All Stars - Capital Region Girl's Soccer

TRANSCRIPT

  • Dan CarpenterCatholic Central The long-time Crusaders coach faced a difficult task this season, despite leading a veteran squad on the field. For the first time in decades, Catholic Central played a non-league schedule, following the break-up of the Big 10 last spring, and took on opponents all over the section as well as the state. It made for a hard-fought season, but one that ended with a little history as the Crusaders returned to Section II postsesaon play and notched the programs first-ever Section II championship, defeating Voorheesville in the Class B final on an overtime goal by Lexi Riffelbach. Although CCHS season ended in the first round of the NYS Tournament, it was still a historic run for Carpenter and the Crusaders, many of which will return to next years squad as well.
