Show Eligibility To be eligible to participate at the Show, Exhibitors must be current paid members of the AJBA. An eligible AJBA member may participate in all contests at the Show provided they are at least 8 years old as of June 1st the year of the Show and not more than 18 years old as of August 31st the year PRIOR to the Show; provided, however, an exception to the maximum age may be permitted upon request and at the sloe discretion of the Y AC for individuals over the maximum age but because of special needs are still enrolled in and actively attending a public or private high school. Exhibitors may only participate through the summer immediately following their graduation from high school or home school regardless of age. Ages will be verified by the Exhibitor’s birth ce1iificate, a true and correct copy of which must be provided by the Exhibitor at the time of registration/entry for the Show. If any Exhibitor is not a member of the AJBA, an application for membership will be forwarded upon receipt of the Show registration/entry. If the Exhibitor fails to become a current paid member of the AJBA, that Exhibitor will not be eligible to participate in the Show.

Entry DeadlineAll entries and entry fees must be entered on ShoWorks on or before June 1, 2020. All cattle, showmanship, and leadership contest entries must be submitted online. Leadership contest material must be submitted by June 12, 2020.

Entry FeesOwned Show- $30/Head

Bred & Owned Show- $30/HeadEntries received after June 1, 2020 will be charged a late fee of $20 per animal. Late entries will be accepted until July 1, 2020. After this date, any animal wishing to show will be allowed to enter, but will be charged $500 per animal and will not be listed in the official show program.

Friendly ReminderNo ranch signs are allowed at the Show.

Exhibitors are encouraged to have signs with their name, location, animal

name, birth date and/ or pedigree information. Family signs will be

acceptable at the discretion of the YAC.

Age Divisions The Show contests for Herdsman/Cattleman’s Quiz, Photography, Poster, Public Speaking, Sales Talk and Showmanship will be divided into 4 age divisions as follows:

Novice: Age 8-10 years old as of June 1st of the current year

Junior: Age 11-13 years old as of June 1st of the current year

Intermediate: Age 14-15 years old as of June 1st of the current year

Senior: Age 16 -18 ( or 19 if otherwise eligible) years old as of June 1st of the current year

All Exhibitor’s and parents, legal guardians or other supervising or responsible adults for the respective Exhibitors must follow the AJBA Code of Conduct. All such parties are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and sportsmanlike manner and abide by the on-site directives of the YAC and it’s authorized representatives. Violations of the standards of the AJBA Code of Conduct include, but are not limited to, the following:

A. Misrepresentation of animals in any mannerB. VandalismC. TheftD. FightingE. Unsportsmanlike conduct F. Failure to comply with directives of officialsG. Exhibitors or others not at least 21 years of age being under the influence of intoxicating or prohibited substances, including but not limited to alcohol, tobacco products or drugs.H. Being publically intoxicated or otherwise similarly impaired, regardless of ageI. Willful violation of the Rules of the Show

The AJBA, the YAC and the Show will have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for any violation of the AJBA Code of Conduct. Failure to adhere thereto could lead to disciplinary action including expulsion from the Show at the sole discretion of the a Disciplinary Committee comprised of the YAC Chairman, the ABBA President and the ABBA Executive Vice President. Disciplinary actions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

A. Forfeiture or return of awards, prizes, premiums or proceedsB. Written letter of reprimand to the violating individualC. Disqualification of the animal in violation from the ShowD. Disqualification of the violating individual from the Show and/or future ShowsE. Publication of the offense and subsequent Disciplinary Action

Health Papers Every animal at the “All American” MUST have an official health certificate verified by a license veterinarian within 30 days of the show and must meet the state animal health commision requirements of the hosting state. State and Interstate brucellosis and tuberculosis requirements will apply.

Stalling All stalling will be preassigned PRIOR to cattle moving into the barns. All participants will receive an email with a diagram of the facilities and their stall assignments. If you would like to request a certain stalling assignment, please email [email protected] we will do our best to accomodate everyone, but all stalling is final.

Virtual Leadership Contests Due to COVID-19, the ABBA has decided to condense the 2020 All American to a 4-day show. That being said, the following leadership contests will be held virtually: Public Speaking, Sales Talk, Photography, and Poster Contest.

The entry deadline for the 2020 All American is June 1, 2020. After this date, all exhibitors will receive an email with a link to a Dropbox Folder labeled with their name. Exhibitors have until June 12, 2020 to upload their submissions and email [email protected] notifying show staff that their folder is complete. Judging will take place virtually and follow the Rules and Guidelines to follow for each specific contest.

Video submissions must be unedited.

Results will be anounced during the 2020 All American Cattle Show. A schedule of times will be posted along side classes in the official show packet and around the fairgrounds as well.

Exhibitors will receive critique sheets at the conclusion of the 2020 All American.

AJBA Scholarships Each year, the AJBA awards scholarships to worthy recipients having made outstanding contributions to agriculture and the Brahman industry. The winners will be announced during the Senior Recognition Breakfast and Scholarship Presentation on 7/24/20

Entry Deadline: June 1, 2020

Eligibility • Applicants must be active members of the AJBA.• Applicants must be graduating high school seniors the year the application is submitted EXCEPT for those scholarships open to already enrolled students, Don Banks Memorial & Amanda Pounds Memorial.• Applicants are required to submit an application along with a brief essay as to why they believe they are deserving of this scholarship.• Scholarship award monies will be presented upon proof of enrollment to a college or university. If no proof of enrollment is received by the following January, the recipient forfeits the scholarship.Scholarship interviews will take place virtually during

the week of July 6th- July 10th

Selection The AJBA Scholarship Committee, selected by the AJBA Youth Activities Committee, will select the recipient. Scholarship applications and essays will be presented anonymously to the scholarship committee for judging to insure impartial selection. Scholarship winners will be announced at the All American Awards Banquet. If for any reason the scholarship recipients cannot accept the scholarship or fails to carry out his or her obligation, an alternate will be awarded the scholarship.

La Muneca & Friends ANIMO Award La Muneca & Friends ANIMO Award will be awarded every year at the AJBA All American Banquet to a unique AJBA member of any age that possesses what ANIMO stands for - spirit, commitment, desire, energy, passion, leadership and volunteerism. It will be a $500 award with the recipient being selected by the ABBA Youth Activities Committee Chairman, ABBA President, All American Coordinator, ABBA Executive Vice President and a Guerra Family Member.

Shawnee Bailey Memorial Award• Nominees will be chosen by their state junior Brahman association prior to the All American. One senior division nominee (16 to 18 years old) is selected per state.• Nominees must have been in the AJBA program for at least three years. Academically, nominees must have a C+ average (2.3 GPA and above).• Nominees should have an outgoing personality, should be well groomed, well-mannered and be considered a credit to their state organization and to the AJBA.• Each nominee must compete in two of the following contests: public speaking, showmanship and herdsman quiz. Each nominee is to complete a short application and an interview process during the All American conducted by the youth activities committee chairman, a family member or representative of Shawnee Bailey’s family and the AJBA president or board member. The nominee will be chosen by this selection committee and annonced at the Senior Recognition Breakfast.

AJBA Official Showmanship Rules Showmanship is open to all individuals entered at the 2020 All American. Animals shown in showmanship must be recorded in the exhibitor’s name at the ABBA office and must be entered and shown in regular cattle classes at the All American. Showmanship classes are based on exhibitor’s age as of June 1 of the year of show.

All Around High Point Individual

The AJBA will award All Around High Point Individual awards to the top five overall exhibitors in each division who accumulate the most points. Exhibitors must participate in cattle classes, showmanship and public speaking to be eligible for the All Around High Point Individual Award. There is no limit to the number of contests exhibitors can compete in; however, only five contest scores will be tabulated for All Around High Point Individual. The high point individuals in each age division will be recognized prior to the selection of the Grand Champion Grey Female. In addition, an Overall All Around High Point Award will be given to the individual with the most overall points across all divisions.

How to EnterExhibitors wishing to be considered for the All Around High Point exhibitor need to email [email protected] for an entry form by June 1, 2020

Each exhibitor will be awarded points in their respective age divisions based on their placings in contests. In the cattle classes, exhibitors will only receive points for their highest placing animal, regardless of how many they entered.

Public Speaking Contest

The American Junior Brahman Association All American Public Speaking Contest is a way for AJBA members to learn the skill of articulation while increasing their self-confidence and improving interpersonal communication skills. This contest provides an outlet for fun and competition at the All American. Entrants will be grouped by age division specified under general rule #2. Subject Matter: Each contestant is to pick their own topic, which should reflect the current events in the Brahman breed and beef industry.

Length of Speech: Novice & Junior Divisions: 3 to 6 minutes Intermediate and Senior Divisions: 5 to 10 minutes Points will be deducted from contestants’ scores for not meeting the appropriate time limit at the rate of 1 point per every 10 seconds the speech runs over or under the set time limit.

To Enter: Contestants can enter this contest using ShoWorks and submit their video to their respective Dropbox Folder by June 12th.

Judging: Each age division will be placed first through tenth with All Around points being awarded to first through fifth places. Contestants will be evaluated by a panel of three judges and ranked on total points awarded by each judge.

Each judge will evaluate each speaker using the following score sheet criteria:A. Content of Speech – 50% Topic areas provided in AJBA rules Knowledge of subject Subject matter factually correct and up to date Audience learned about subject Appropriate content organizationB. Presentation of Speech – 50% Confidence, posture, poise, attire Voice - projection, pronunciation, speed Gestures, movements, eye contact Memorization of speechVideos should be unedited and seamless in production. Exhibitors should also make sure that viewers can hear them clearly before submitting videos for judging.

Herdsman Quiz

The AJBA All American Herdsman Quiz contest was created to test AJBA members’ knowledge of facts and history of the Brahman breed and the beef industry. Test questions are taken from the American Brahman history book, The Brahman Journal magazine, www.brahman.org, industry publications and booklets available from the ABBA office.

Entrants will be grouped by age division specified under general rule #2.

Judging/Scoring: Quizzes will be scored based on the percentage of quiz questions that each contestant answered correctly. First through tenth place will be awarded in each age division and All Around points will be awarded to first through fifth places.

To Enter: Contestants must be present at the time the herdsman quiz is distributed at the All American and must take the quiz at the selected time. The time and location of the herdsman quiz will be provided on the All American schedule of events.

Tie Breakers will be announced at a later date.

Herdsman Award The herdsman competition promotes pride and enthusiasm for an individual’s All American entries or his/her ranch. A single award will be given during the All American Cattle Show for the exhibitor that earns the highest score.

Judging/Scoring: Exhibitors stalling areas will be evaluated by a silent judge throughout the week of the All American. Scoring is based on:

A. Aisle and Bedding – 30% (cleanliness, general appearance)B. Animals – 30% (cleaned, groomed, general appearance)C. Equipment – 20% (well arranged, organization, attractive)D. Youth tending to cattle – 20% (neat, knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic)

Sales Talk The All American Sales Talk Contest was created to teach AJBA members the importance of communication in cattle marketing and promotion, as well as give them an understanding of pedigrees, performance information and cattle phenotype. This contest provides an additional competitive event for AJBA members to participate in and earn points toward the All Around. Entrants will be grouped by age division specified under general rule #2. Judging will take place on an individual basis; teams will not be entered.

To Enter: Contestants can enter this contest using ShoWorks and submit their video to their respective Dropbox Folder by June 12th.

Length of Talk: 3 to 6 minutes Points will be deducted from contestants’ scores for not meeting the appropriate time limit at the rate of 2 points per minute over time.

Objective: Contestants have the option to use their own animal or animal other than their own and should hold or tie the animal or have another junior member hold the animal during their talk. Only the entry being marketed may be in the video.

Animals must be clean and presentable. Contestants will be required to upload a registration certificate for the animal being “sold.” One other visual aid may be used, and may not include posters, slide presentations or other live animals.

Contestants should define a sales situation, and discuss the animal’s pedigree, performance and phenotype (visual characteristics), while interacting with the “buyer.” Contestants must abide by the AJBA dress code.

Videos should be unedited and seamless in production. Exhibitors should also make sure that viewers can hear them clearly before submitting videos for judging.

Judging/Scoring: A two-member panel will score each individual based on the following:

a. Knowledge of the animal they are selling – 25%b. Organization and style presentation – 25%c. Poise, appearance and delivery – 25%d. Overall effectiveness (salesmanship, creativity, originality) – 25%

The American Junior Brahman Association All American Photography Contest was created to help AJBA members increase their communication skills through the creative display of a message or feeling through photography, and to provide a fun and competitive activity for juniors. Entrants will be grouped by age division specified under general rule #2.

Photos should be themed around the following categories:

• Brahman Cattle -- Photographs that highlight Brahman or F-1 cattle on the farm or ranch or at a Brahman event. The cattle should be the dominant focus of the picture.• Landscapes -- Photographs that focus on scenery around the farm or ranch. Brahman or F-1 cattle should be included in the photo.• People -- Photographs that show a Brahman junior and/or family, friends, fellow junior members, etc., either involved in activities on the farm or ranch or at a Brahman event.

Judging/Scoring: Each age division will be placed first through tenth with All Around points will be awarded to first through fifth places. Champions in each age division will be judged against one another to select a “Best of Show.”

To Enter: Contestants can enter this contest using ShoWorks. All entries must must be submitted to the exhibitor’s Dropbox folder prior to the submission deadline.

Contest Guidelines 1. Contestants must be members of the American Junior Brahman Association.2. Contestants may enter ONE photo. All work must be that of the contestant. Photos entered must be the contestants’ current year’s work and cannot have been presented for competition at previous All Americans.3. Photos cannot be altered, or image enhanced in any way.4. Entering photos into the All American Photography Contest serves as the junior’s permission for the ABBA or AJBA to use their photo as association or breed promotion.

JudgingA two judge system will score exhibitors based on: a. Focus/Exposure/Lighting- 30% b. Composition/ Distance- 30% c. Creativity and Appeal

Poster Contest The American Junior Brahman Association All American Poster Contest was created to display the creative talent of AJBA members, to share ideas that may be useful in promotion of our breed, our organization and our herds, and to provide a fun and competitive activity for juniors. Entrants will be grouped by age division specified under general rule #2.

Posters should be themed around the following categories:

Novice Division: Why They Show Brahman Cattle -- Contestants should explain why they show Brahman cattle. This could include but is not limited to specific show animals, going to shows or friendships made while showing, etc.

Junior Division: Breed Promotion -- Highlight the attributes and value of registered Brahman cattle or Certified/Golden Certified F-1s in the beef industry, in a successful cattle enterprise, or in a crossbreeding program.

Intermediate Division: Association Promotion/Membership Recruitment -- Highlight the benefits of active membership in the ABBA, AJBA, F-1 Program or a state or regional affiliate Brahman association and develop and illustrate ideas and themes to recruit new members for the association. Senior Division: Herd Advertisement -- Create print advertisement suitable for promotion of a fictitious Brahman cattle or Golden Certified/Certified F-1 operation. The exhibitor may not advertise their own ranch, nor can they use their own ranch name. Clarification: The senior division should create a herd advertisement that is modeled after print advertisements but follows the poster contest guidelines outlined to the right.

Judging Each age division will be placed first through tenth with All Around points being awarded to first through fifth places.

Contest Guidelines

1. Contestants must be members of the American Junior Brahman Association.2. Contestants may enter ONE poster. All work must be that of the contestant. The poster entered must be the contestants’ current year’s work and cannot have been presented for competition at previous All Americans.3. Poster board dimensions must be 28x22in.4. The poster must consist of either paper poster board or foam board.5. Poster elements must be part of or attached to the flat surface of the poster board.a. Any borders, fabric, lettering, glitter or additional elements may not extend more than 1 inch off the flat surface of the poster board.b. The poster’s message should be plainly understood when hanging on a wall for display.6. All work must be the original design and handiwork of the contestant.a. Posters may not be made using computer- generated lettering and/or fonts. All artwork/ lettering will be hand drawn/ traced/cut/ attached.b. Photographs, magazine clippings, computer generated fonts, adhesive lettering and/or foam lettering may not be used. Judges have the authority to disqualify any posters that they question with regards to containing these materials.c. Foam board, laminate, stencils, fabric and or glitter may be used, assuming their uses meet the hand- crafted requirements specified above.7. Any posters not meeting the size or artwork requirements will be displayed but not considered for placing.

Judging/PlacingJudging will be done by a two-member panel of judges who will base placings on:a. Originality/ Creativity – 30% Poster offers a unique theme, interesting visuals and thoughtful design.b. Message – 30% The content of the poster is powerful and attention grabbing. The poster could be used in a practical setting and provides factual and up-to-date information.c. Craftsmanship – 20% The poster is hand crafted, neatly fashioned, and contestant has focused on assembling the poster with attention to detail.d. Meets specifications of subject category – 20% The poster focuses on the Brahman breed.

The American Junior Brahman Association Queen and Princess Contest was created to give young ladies in the organization the opportunity to represent and promote the AJBA and ABBA across the country at shows and other Brahman featured events. Only active AJBA members will be considered for AJBA Queen or Princess.

Age Divisions Princess- 8 to 13 years old as of June 1 Queen- 14 years old and older as of June 1, but not yet entered the 12th grade.

To Enter: Contestants MUST pre-enter this contest on ShoWorks. Contestants must also attend the Queen and Princess meeting to run for a position that will be held virtually. If contestants do not enter prior to the deadline and/or do not attend the Queen and Princess meeting, they will not be considered for the Queen or Princess competition. All AJBA members will be notified of the time and form of the Queen and Princess meeting prior to the All American.

Rules & Regulations 1. Contestants must be members of the American Junior Brahman Association.2. Contestants must exhibit cattle at the current All American as well as participate in the public speaking and showmanship contests.3. Contestants must always wear their Queen and Princess Contestant Identification during the All American.4. Contestants must wear appropriate dress at all times during the competition. Dressy/ business professional attire (no jeans) is required for the interview, public speaking contest, awards presentation and any other All American event.5. In the event of a tie, the public speaking contest will serve as the first tiebreaker, followed by interview, showmanship and herdsmanship.

After each division of the competition has been scored, overall scores will be tabulated by the Executive Vice President and a member of the youth activities committee.

Responsibilities of Winners •Winners must represent the ABBA/AJBA by presenting awards and being available for photographs at the National Open Brahman Show, International Brahman Show (Houston), the next year’s AJBA All Ameri- can and one other major show or event.

•Representing the AJBA is the first priority of the AJBA Queen and Princess, and consequently the Queen and Princess will receive a great deal of attention. Dress and act accordingly.

•The AJBA Queen and Princess must adhere to the AJBA Code of Conduct as well as the AJBA Junior Board of Directors Code of Conduct. Violations of these codes of conduct include a written warning for a first offense, followed by removal as Queen or Princess on a second violation.

•When wearing the Queen/Princess banner or crown, especially when presenting awards in the ring, dressy pants and a nice blouse, vest or blazer are to be worn. The Queen & Princess shall not wear any clothing that promotes a ranch or product. The dress code will be monitored and subject to approval by the ABBA Youth Activities Committee Queen Liaison.

•If showing an animal at any time during reign as Queen or Princess, crowns and sashes must be removed before entering the showring for competition.

•The ABBA will provide a $500 travel stipend to the AJBA Queen and Princess.

Scoring/Selection: Herdsman (15%): Contestants will be evaluated by a silent judge throughout the week of the All American and will be awarded between 1 and 15 points based on the cleanliness of their stall and feed area, neatness and appearance of their exhibition and care given to their animals. Judging criteria will be consistent with that of the AJBA Herdsman competition. It is suggested that contestants set up a formal cattle display.

Showmanship (25%): Queen and Princess contestants will compete in a separate showmanship class where they will be evaluated only against their fellow queen and princess contestants respectively. This showmanship class will be held on the scheduled showmanship day of the All American following the completion of the champion showman drive. Contestants will be evaluated by the approved AJBA showmanship judge at the All American, and placings will be given silently to the Queen and Princess Contest chairman or the ABBA Executive Vice President.The Queen and Princess contestant receiving the highest rank by the showmanship judge will receive 25 points. As rankings decrease, points awarded to Queen and Princess contestants for the Queen and Princess Showmanship division will decrease by 5 points each.Interview (30%): TO BE DONE VIRTUALLY A panel of three judges will evaluate and award contestants 1-30 points based off of the Queen and Princess contest interview score sheet which will include the interviewee’s knowledge of the Brahman breed and the beef industry, their personal opinion and thoughts, their future plans and ambitions, their appearance, dress, poise and confidence, interaction with fellow candidates, and their discussion of current events. Attire for this portion of the contest is dressy/business professional. Public Speaking (30%): Contestants must participate in the AJBA All American Public Speaking Contest. Contestants will present a speech for the All American Public Speaking Contest and rules for this contest are consistent with the AJBA Public Speaking Contest. To maintain scoring consistency, Queen and Princess contestants are required to give their speech twice during the All American; once in the AJBA Public Speaking Contest, and once to Queen and Princess contestant judges prior to their Queen and Princess Interview. Queen and Princess contestants will receive points out of 30 based on the AJBA All American Public Speaking Contest score sheet scores given by the Queen and Princess Interview/Public Speaking Judges.

Official F-1 Female Show Guiedlines

Only ABBA Golden Certified & Certified F-1 Females will Be

Eligible to be Shown

GOLDEN CERTIFIED FEMALES - a female that is the progeny of two registered parents.

CERTIFIED F-1 FEMALES - the program in which the sire must be registered, and the dam is a qualified cow, a purebred cow whose physical characteristics have been inspected by an ABBA representative.

Rules & Regulations

1. F-1 females MUST be certified through the ABBA F-1 Program Certificate Option and Certificates MUST be in the exhibitor’s name prior to May 15, 2020. 2. Females MUST show visible half Brahman characteristics for their cross. Any dispute concerning parentage or blood percentage will be handled by the majority opinion of three competent and knowledgeable evaluators based on phenotypic expression. 3. F-1 females will not be weighed and measured4. F-1 Female grooming will be blow and go5. F-1 Certificates must be in the show format including the exhibitors name on the face of the certificate, date of delivery and birthdate of animal. 6. All F-1 show participants MUST be an AJBA member7. Show will be scheduled on the Thursday of the All American and will follow showmanship8. The F-1 female show participants will meet the same entry and arrival deadlines and follow the same schedule as Brahman exhibitors 9. ALL breed crosses will be shown together and grouped by birth dates. Eligible animal ages will range January 1, 2018 - February 28, 2020 10. Uniform classes will be broken once entries are received11. Judge will be the same as the Bred & Owned Show Judge 12. F-1 Participants will be able to participate in all contests, including Showmanship. However, F-1 points will not count for the All Around.
