ALL AMERICAN LODGE 2003,04,08,09,10,11,12,13 BPO ELKS 2399 WAPITI WIND February, 2017 Exalted Ruler’s Message:. The fraternal year is nearing an end and since February has traditionally been the month of love, symbolized by the heart, I am reminded of how we of 2399 have donated over $50,000.00 to charitable organizations in Havasu. We aid- ed the boy and girl scouts with their causes, supported the Unified School District in a variety of activities, donated thousands of dollars in scholarship grants, donated to vari- ous community care organizations such as: HAVEN, the Salvation Ar- my, Hospice, Senior Meals on Wheels, supported the Elks Major Project the Steele Research Center and Elks Youth Camp, exemplified Elkdom with a family splash at the Aquatic Center, provided veterans in the VA Hospital with over $9,740.00 in personal items to make their stay a little more pleas- ant; and during the Christmas season we pleased 75 Havasu youths with a clothing shopping spree worth $150 and a personal gift from an anonymous Elks Member, and then distributed food baskets to 74 needy families with a new gift for each of the 178 children of these families. Members of 2399 you are the greatest and a simple pat on the back does not come close to recognizing your generosi- ty. I am proud to be a member of such an outstanding lodge and you really make the Heart of Elkdom Swell and Throb proving Elks Care ~Elks Share. Again your generosity made it possible to meet the Grand Lodge per capita contribution to the Elks National Foundation (ENF). The ENF is the charitable arm of the Order of Elks and because of expert management of the funds there is returned to the states more than is donated for the state Major Projects, Youth Programs and Scholar- ships. The BPOElks can claim the honor of being the sec- ond largest scholarship provider, second only to the US Government. February is upon us and it is the single most im- portant month of the Elk Fraternal Year for this is the month we select those officers who will guide the affairs of the lodge during the ensuing year. Remember, there is no higher reward than serving as an officer of the Lodge. “The members will remember your work with deep appreciation and you will have earned an honored place in the records of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the Unit- ed States of America.” You can refer to your January edi- tion of the Wapiti for details of the nominations and elec- tions requirements. . February is also a fun filled month! Check your calen- dar for all the fun filled events that are outlined elsewhere in the Wapiti and then plan on enjoying them. Club Man- ager Kevin Brown has introduced a number of new menu items that have been highly successful. Join your fellow Elks members and enjoy all that your Lodge has to offer. We have initiated 276 members since the first of the fraternal year 2016-2017, but regrettably there are 116 who have not paid their dues and are scheduled to be dropped. Look over the list, on page 2, and if you know someone on the list see if you can determine why he or she dropped and then try to persuade them to reconsider. Lake Havasu Elks took front stage while competing in various state programs. I would be remiss if I didn’t show my and the Lodge’s appreciation to the following for their exemplary efforts: Mike Arlowe with his award winning Drug Awareness program. Mike covered all Lodge events with children involved with his drug awareness displays, his poster and essay contests when over 200 students par- ticipated and his Americanism had 324 students partici- pate. HR Radtke for his superior Youth Activity program. Ace Johnson for the best Newsletter in the state and an out- standing Public Relations Program. In addition he won first place honors for the Americanism brochure. These accom- plishments don’t go unnoticed throughout the state. Trustee Message to Members When I was Exalted Ruler in 2011 my motto was “Moving Forward in Complete Harmony”. I believe we have one of the great-est Lodges in Elkdom and Lake Havasu City and we are moving forward. The membership voted down the proposal to expand the Lodge and create a separate environmentally controlled smoking room for our smoking members. With that said and done, a committee is moving forward with Plan B to create a nice patio for our smoking members. As the ONLY non-smoking fraternal organization in Lake Havasu City, please bring your friends in to enjoy our great dinners and dancing in the evening. Invite your friends to join the ELKs. We have a lot of fun, camaraderie, and so many great organiza-tions and activities they can join. As a fraternal organization many volunteers keep this organization moving forward with all the Youth Activities, Veterans recognition, Charitable donations and Scholarships. You can work just one day a year with the Youth Activities Hoop shoot or Soc-cer shoot or show your culinary skills as a volunteer cook. If you have a skill you would like to share please call Marti Johnson our Volunteer Committee Chairman at 928-566-1685. Moving Forward I see our Lodge continuing to grow and prosper. Please join me in making that happen. Tim Fairbank, Head Trus-tee.

DO YOU RECALL YOUR OBLIGATION? I (name) in the presence of God and this Lodge of Elks, do sol-emnly promise and swear that I will never reveal any of the confi-dential matters of this Order which have been, or will hereafter be, committed to my charge and keeping. I will support the Constitution, and obey the Statutes Rules and rRgulations of this Order and the By-Laws of Lake Havasu Lodge

2399 and those of any other Lodge of which I may hereafter be-come a Member. I will uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States of America. I will never introduce into the Order anything of a political or sectarian character, nor in anyway bring reproach upon it.

VAGABONDS NEWS Now that the diets are well under way and our lives are getting back to normal (whatever that is), we can look for-ward to another great year. Don’t miss our monthly meet-ings, which are the second Wednesday of the month. They begin at 1:00. Join us for lunch at noon and be sure to get there early to buy your Queen of Hearts tickets. We do have a couple of campouts scheduled for January and February. January will be in Quartsite. This is a “no host”, dry camping campout. The dates for this are January 21st through the 29th. Members will be coming and going during this time. The one in February will be at the Avi in Laughlin and will be hosted by Hank and Pauline Thonnard. The dates for this campout are February 9th, 10th and 11th. Keep in mind we have the Tri-State rally coming up in April and that is normally the 3rd week of the month. This year it will be in Anthony, Texas so that will be a three or four day trip to get there. We have to stop early enough in the day for happy hour. It’s getting to be that time of year when we pay our dues. Both the Elks and the Vagabonds dues must be paid by April 1st. Our Treasurer, Gloria Flint, will begin collecting whenever you wish to pay them. She is always happy to collect money. Our new members are Tom Burkhart and Susan Paulus, Paul Nigrey, Rick & Lisa Stilson, Thomas & Cathleen Kel-ler, Jerry & Dody Hietpas, Ron & Lynda Priscilla, Vincent Gouthro & Lori Peltier, Thomas & Charleen Marshall, and Joe Abela & Kathy Henriksen. Our Club continues to grow. If you see one of the offic-ers, or a familiar face, please re-introduce yourself. We look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. Of course a good way to get to know each other is at our cam-pouts so try not to miss them. Remember BPOE – Best People on Earth

NEW LODGE MEMBERS

ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION (ENF) GOAL REACHED Members of 2399, your continued support of the ENF made it possible for the lodge meet the Grand Lodge commitment to the ENF. My thanks to all members who made a donation to the Elks National Foundation throughout out the Lodge year. This important charity giver and the fund donates to many Ma-jor Projects in our state. Because of your generosity we were able to meet the Grand Lodge per capita goal and we will receive a monetary grant for our lodge. Soon you will be receiving your yearly dues notice and when you send in your yearly membership dues please try and continue contributing to the ENF. As a result of expert management and without the high overhead of similar charitable programs the ENF is able to return to the lodges more than is donated. Thanks: Jerry Gillen, Lodge secretary and Elks National Foundation Chairman.
