Mime/Physical Theatre SummerWorkshopExperience a form of theatre that puts emphasis on movement

rather than dialogue. Physical Theatre is about storytelling or

expressing ideas through the choreographed movement of the

human body. It’s often abstract in style, using stylised and

representational movement. Cirque De Soleil or Blue Man

Group are innovative examples.

This residency will bridge the art of dance and theater as one

cohesive form of performing art. All interested performers,

dance/actors/music theatre/musicians and any student with a

curious interest in the art will receive valuable training in self-

expression and the development of voice without the use of

dialogue. To extend the participant’s view of the theatre experience, the art of stagecraft is also integrated into this

workshop. Students receive guidance as they design and create the sets, props and costumes to be utilized in

their own performance.

The goal is for the students to experience something new, something challenging and have fun doing it.

Authenticity, focus, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication, and performance innovation are all

vital theatrical tools learned by students in this impactful, one-week experience.

Mime/Physical Theatre Summer WorkshopExperience a form of theatre that puts emphasis on movement rather than dialogue. Physical Theatre is aboutstorytelling or expressing ideas through the choreographed movement of the human body. It’s often abstract instyle, using stylised and representational movement. Cirque De Soleil or Blue Man Group are innovativeexamples. This residency will bridge the art of dance and theater as one cohesive form of performing art. Allinterested performers, dance/actors/music theatre/musicians and any student with a curious interest in the art willreceive valuable training in self-expression and the development of voice without the use of dialogue. To extendthe participant’s view of the theatre experience, the art of stagecraft is also integrated into this workshop. Studentsreceive guidance as they design and create the sets, props and costumes to be utilized in their own performance. The goal is for the students to experience something new, something challenging and have fun doing it.Authenticity, focus, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication, and performance innovation are allvital theatrical tools learned by students in this impactful, one-week experience.
