• Live in rivers

What an Otter Likes To Eat
• Otters are carnivores
• Favorite food is crayfish
• Also eat fish, frogs, water insects, crayfish, clams, shrimp, birds and rabbits
An OttersEarly Stages of Life
• Mother otters teach their pups to catch prey in their mouths
• Some mother otters begin to teach their babies how to swim when they are only 15 days old
• In the wild, baby otters are born on land
Why Otters Are Endangered• Only 20,000 remaining
• In1800, about 65,000 were trapped by hunters
• Farming and construction have destroyed much of their habitat
