Show SummaryJoin Delyth as she spends the day at a funfair for her birthday. The rollercoaster is broken and Delyth must solve a series of challenges to get it working again. Help Delyth solve challenges relating to the senses and the human body, as she tries to find out how the children are similar and different from her.
This science theatre show explores the human body through storytelling and develops the pupils’ skills in communication and problem solving. Pupils participate in a range of interactive demonstrations and even have the chance to take part on stage in activities that investigate the main external features of the human body, the senses and the differences and similarities between humans and other animals.

Working in groups, ask pupils to select one photograph from those taken of them during their visit. Pupils should present their chosen photograph to the class and describe what is happening in the photograph. Use these questions to get more information from the pupils. • Who is in this photograph? • What is this a photograph of? • Why have you chosen this photograph? • Has anyone found something similar in
another photograph? • What did you enjoy about this exhibit?• Does this exhibit have anything to do with
the show you saw? What?• What else did you see at Techniquest?• What did you learn from your visit?• What was your favourite part of the visit?
Why?
Using Your Photos

Exhibit TrailIn each of the following photographs, Delyth is asking a question related to the show or the exhibit. • Set pupils the challenge of answering
the questions. • Ask pupils if they used the exhibit
in the photograph during their visit. What did they find out about it?
• What other exhibits did they find that were related to the show? What did they find out from exploring these?
• Pupils could draw a picture of their favourite exhibit. They could add thought bubbles, like on the photographs of Delyth, to explain why they liked it.
Pupils can email their thoughts, comments and pictures about their time in Techniquest to:
Delyth will choose her favourite emails and photographs and these will be displayed in Techniquest. Look out for them next time you visit.
What parts of my body can you see?
Why can’t you see lower part of my body?

Balance Game
What you need: • Stopwatch• Hoops• Bean bags• Plastic Markers
What you do:• Set up the hoops, three in row (as in
the picture), with a marker 5 metres away from the first hoop. This is your throwing point. Set another marker 10 metres from the hoop. This is your start point.
• Split the class into two teams.• One at a time, pupils must run from the
start to the first marker and balance on one leg for ten seconds.
• After ten seconds they should swap legs and balance on the other leg. Whilst doing this they need to throw a bean bag into one of the hoops.
• The first hoop is worth one point, the second two points and the third three points.
• After they have thrown the bean bag they should return to the group and the next person can go.
• The winning team is the one who scores the most points once every team member has had a go.
Ask pupils:• Which leg was it easier to balance
on? • Which hoop was it easier to throw the
bean bag into? • Are taller or shorter pupils better at this
game? • How can you improve your score on
the game?

Delyth.

Draw Me
Think about: • What will you need?• How many pieces of paper will
you need?• How will you stick them together?• How should you lie on the paper?• How many fingers can you draw
around?• Who will go first?• How will you decorate your
drawing?• Can you compare the height of
your drawing with your friend?
Delyth and her two friends want to draw around themselves.
• Delyth’s friends both want to draw around her. How can they do this?
• Delyth wants them each to have a drawing. How many drawings will they have in total?
• Why is working together important?

How Tall Are We?
What you need:• Measuring stick or tape• Graph paper• Pencil
What you do:• Using the measuring equipment pupils
should work in pairs to measure each other’s height.
• Pupils should record their height to the nearest 10cm.
• Challenge pupils to work out how many people fall into the following groups: 70cm to 80cm
80cm to 90cm 90cm to 100cm 100cm to 110cm• Pupils should draw a bar chart to show
how many people are in each group.
Ask pupils:
• Who is the tallest person in the class? • Who is the shortest? • When were these two people born? Is their height related to their age? • What can we do to make sure we grow big and strong? • Challenge pupils to remeasure their heights three months later. Are there any
differences in the measurements?• Now who is the tallest person in the class? • Who has grown the most? Who has grown the least?
