Message from our Zone President

HAPPY AUTUMN LADIES OF THE TRINITY ZONE LWML

I have been thinking a lot about friendships the last 3 months. How we find friends, make friends and become closer to some people and not to others.

Sometimes it is an instant thing. You meet someone and something just “clicks” and there you are. You made a friend that will be your friend for the rest of your life. Sometimes it is because you see that someone needs help and you help them and find that this person is someone you want to know better and, again, there you are. You made another friend for a completely different reason.

That is what friendship is like: A special bond between two people. LWML is just like that. You make friends at the LWML that stay friends forever. But as LWML Ladies, we need to make friends with ladies who are looking for answers to the questions life presents to us.

I encourage you to talk to women in your congregation, who don’t know the great things the LWML does, not only in your church but in the world at large. Invite them to an LWML event in your church or in the Zone and keep asking until they come to see what you

A Few “Happenings Around the Zone”Faith LWML, Stephenville

Faith LWML has been busy so far this year with activities and mission programs for the ladies of the congregation. For our year's kick-off meeting, we hosted a Ladies’ Night Out on Sep. 17 that included a wine with appetizers program.  After a devotion about wine in the Bible, we featured the owner of the business who discussed the choice of wines and characteristics.

Faith celebrated LWML Sunday on Sep. 4 in both services and pinpointed some specifics about some MITE projects as well as having a report on the National LWML Convention. Our generous congregation donated $239 towards the Mite Box Missions.         On November 22, we will celebrate an Advent By Candlelight program with       ladies in the congregation and community.  The Christmas Carols theme will allow for beautiful decorations when each table hostess decorates her table after choosing a carol title.       On Dec. 20 after 2nd service, our Faith LWML will hostess a lunch with       devotion and “Baby Shower for Jesus,” and all gifts will be given to the             Pregnancy Care Center.       Our Jan. 17 meeting will revolve around a guest speaker, Jonathan Reich, who will entertain all the congregation with a program about his Mission Trip to Uganda.

News from Women of AscensionWomen of Ascension hosted a graduation reception in May for our two high school

graduates and our college graduate. WOA provided a gift for each graduate. Each graduate, also, had a gift bag where the congregation could add cards or gifts. In September, a reception

was held for our two confirmands who also received gifts from WOA.

Our Savior LWML, GranburyOKTOBERFEST HUGE SUCCESS IN GRANBURY----

The LWML ladies held their annual Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 4 in connection with LWML Sunday. The entire event was such fun. Brats, sauerkraut, cold and hot potato salad, green beans and apple pie were enjoyed by all. Thanks to our men for cooking the brats out on our church’s grill. They were wonderful.

A live and silent auction was held during the dinner. The silent auction consisted of home-made (crafted) items, other than baked provided by the members of our congregation. We have many talented people at Our Savior. Things like paintings from one of our LWML members, hand-carved crosses, afghans, and wreaths were sold. The live auction was very lively, as always, with some of our baked items going for well over $100. This is always a fun time, and our church members are very generous, knowing that our monies go to various missions.

In connection with our church service, the LWML theme “Seek First the Kingdom of God” was used throughout the service, with a beautiful banner, made by one of our LWML members, Karen Case, gracing the front of the church.

Everyone was asked to throw their loose change into the large mite box in the Narthex. Our mites netted $94.26, and our Oktoberfest all total netted around $3,300.

In our October meeting the LWML ladies will have such fun “giving it all away”. We support several different ministries of the LCMS, and have always supported a seminary student and our church’s seminary scholarship fund. Monies are also give to WOW (Women of The Way), Lutheran World Relief, and other various ministries.

Good Shepherd LWML, AzleThe Day Guild and Rebekah societies of Good Shepherd are collecting gloves,

mittens, socks, coats and blankets to take down to the Presbyterian Night  Shelter. We are collecting until November 15th. They will be taken down when we deliver our sandwiches to the shelter on the 3rd Tuesday in November. We also received $300 from Thrivent to purchase more of such items for the homeless in Fort Worth.

Trinity Zone Fall Rally Report @ Ascension, Cleburne on Sunday, Oct.

25 th We had a group of thirty-one women attend the Fall Rally this past Sunday. An opening was conducted by Pastor Richard Kurth that started with a “hammer” and gave us the message of God’s wonderful grace when He personally picked EACH of us before creation! President Janet Adkins led our business meeting and received reports from committees. We collected an offering of $185.60 and voted to give half, $92.80, to St. Paul Lutheran in support of the cost of sending meals for “Feed the Starving Children”. It was decided to combine the Prayer Service with a One Day Zone Retreat to be held at Faith Lutheran, Stephenville, on Saturday, February 20th, 9:00am-3:30pm at a cost of $20 each. The theme will be “Garden Getaway” and will be led by Marlene White. Snacks, lunch, journal, and a craft are included for each participant. Click Garden Getaway & Prayer Service Zone Retreat Registration Form or see form later in this newsletter for more information. Elections were held and current officers were re-elected for another two year term. Treasurer: Jean Baron; VP Human Care: Ginger Thomas; VP Communications: Cheryl Konz. Pastor Jim Autry conducted the installation. We were then treated to a wonderful presentation on Essential Oils and the Bible by Kayla Cowen Winkler. It was inspiring and enlightening to hear how God prepared these substances and how they were used in the Bible. We also learned how they help us now. Kayla had the oil scents for us to smell and experience, too! Plus, four lucky women received door prizes. The afternoon concluded with prayer and then a wonderful meal served by the Ascension women. A lucky winner at each table went home with a beautiful plant, too. Enjoy the wonderful pictures submitted by Lois Rathgeber. Below pictures: Our Ascension hostesses, ladies meeting in the church, installation of officers, our guest speaker, and enjoying a delightful meal!

“Building LWML Societies”.Trying to refresh and grow your LWML group? Take another look at the information Diann shared at the Spring Workshop about the LWML 101 and LWML 102 power points from the LWML website. At the bottom of the website, go to “Services” and then down to “Group Resources”. It will take you to all that Diann presented and much more! A few highlight ideas:
