• PARENT PROMISE ACADEMY• A parent support network of Eastside

Promise Neighborhood• The Parent Promise Academy is a series of

parent support meetings that provides guidance and understanding of children’s’ developmental growth and needs. It is presented by developmental stages and age groups. There are four age group components to the Academy:– Tiny Texans – age 0-18 months Jan/Feb– Texas Toddlers – age 18-36 months

March/April – Stars – age 36- 48 months May/June– Champs- age 4-6 July/August– Eagles – age 7-9 Sept/Oct

• Each component is four weeks long, one two hour session per week.

• Each age group component will address the following topics for parents:– What is my child’s brain doing right now?– Developmental stages– Nutrition– Parent Leadership

Create a city-wide school attendance effort to improve SA2020 Education Indicators – Kindergarten Readiness, 3rd Grade Reading, College and Career Readiness, High school Graduation.

PURPOSE

• Partnered with Attendance Works for citywide attendance awareness collaboration• Created a collaborative called SA Kids Attend To Win – 30+ partners• Communicating the importance of attendance in Pre-K through 12th grade through

public service announcements, school events, and providing information to parents and students in English and Spanish.

• Partnering with Pre-K 4 SA, elementary, middle and high schools, and non-profit organizations to focus on chronic non-attending students (those missing 10% or more of expected school days – excused or unexcused).
