Outcomes-based education

• is a methodology of teaching in which the desired outcomes of the learning experience are clearly stated to enable all learners to achieve these outcomes

• a learner is expected to demonstrate the application of knowledge, skills, values and attitudes learnt in the classroom

What is a Learning Outcome?

• A learning outcome is a statement of an intended result of learning and teaching

• It describes skills, knowledge, values and attitudes that learners should acquire

• There are 4 learning outcomes for Electrical Technology that learners acquire progressively over 3 years - Grades 10, 11 & 12

What is an Assessment Standard?

• Assessment standards are criteria that collectively describe what a learner should know and be able to demonstrate at each grade

• They embody the skills, knowledge, values & attitudes required to achieve the learning outcomes

The purpose & scope of Electrical Technology

• Exposure to relevant skills, knowledge, values & attitudes

• Preparation for career pathways and additional education & training opportunities

• Electrical Technology affords learners the opportunity

to carry out practical projects, experiments

and real-life tasks using a variety of

of processes and skillsRefer pages 9 & 10 in the Electrical Technology

curriculum statement
