Want to know more about being on the Board of Trustees? NZSTA have sent through the following information: You will no doubt be aware that 2019 is an election year for school trustees. NZSTA has been working on ways to encourage more parents to stand for election. We understand that asking people to put their hand up and stand for election is difficult, especially if parents aren’t really clear on what the role entails! We are offering a new programme, Kōrari, which is designed to recognise the experience of existing trustees and help to encourage potential new trustees to come and find out what it really means to serve on a school board. When? Thursday 7th March @7pm Where? Bush MultiSport Stadium, Pahiatua
GRIP Student Leadership Conference This is held on the 3rd April in the Awapuni Function Centre at the Awapuni Racecourse, Palmerston north and is for Year 7 and 8 students. Students will need to take a packed morning tea and lunch and a pen, the conference booklet is provided for them. More details will follow regarding transport.

BOT UPDATE On behalf of the Alfredton BOT I would like to thank ASCA for running the trail ride fundraiser. It was a really
well organised event and all the riders would have had a great day with a tasty lunch. A special thanks to Te
Hoe, Pati Tapu and the Christie family for the use of their property and to Simon and Lisa Hull who lead the
event.
Elections: Our three year election cycle is due on the 7th June this year. All five positions on the board are
up for re-election. If we get this number then there is no need for an election, but if we get more than the
required nominees then an election will have to take place. Two of the current board have indicated they
will be re-standing for election.
After this process it is likely that the new board will appoint a sixth person in order to spread the work load.
So please get talking about who would like to be involved, there are presentation evenings being held for
further information or give me a call if you like. It is a great way to be part of the community and to support
the school.
Thanks for all the support.
Russ Smith
BOT Chair.
Next Meeting: Tuesday 19th March 6:00pm.
All welcome to attend
ASCA
Alfredton School Trail Ride Fundraiser – Sunday 3rd March 2019
On behalf of ASCA, a huge THANKYOU to all those who helped with the running of this event on Sunday. It
requires the support of a large number of people to put this event on, both in the lead up to it, and on the
day, and without all this help it wouldn't have been so successful so we really appreciate it!
This year saw 186 riders converge on Te Hoe Station, a huge thankyou to the Mitchells - Stu, Carla, Alan and
Wendy for the use of their facilities and property as our base. Also to Doug and Jo McKenzie and Grant and
Rachel Christie, many thanks for allowing us access to your properties as well, we couldn't have created such
a fantastic ride for everyone without you all. Feedback from riders was 'could we please hold it here again
next year!'
To those who gave their time to 'mark out' on Saturday, and all involved with running the show on Sunday,
your efforts have been well rewarded with a huge number of positive comments on our awesome tracks,
amazing lunch, friendly hospitality and well organised event.
Thank you to our friendly mechanic from Bisset Honda who provided support to riders with
breakdowns/repairs etc so they could continue to enjoy all that was on offer for the day.
We would also like to sincerely thank those from the community not involved in the school, but who gave
their time and support over the weekend to help us. Great job everyone!
We also could not have been so successful financially with this event, without the support and generosity of
local businesses. We are so grateful for the generous donations made by the following people, to help us
cover our costs. Please do share your appreciation and thanks the next time you see these wonderful folk:

them last as a separate line. A separate ASD form also needs to be filled out. Any number and class of stock
are gratefully received. Below is a list of participating stock agents, if your agent isn’t on the list please contact
Angela Blundell 3750676 to arrange. A big thank you to all the agents for their support.
