Triple Crown Alfa-Lox is a chopped alfalfa supplement containing select amino acids, prebiotics and high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids to help horses with digestive challenges related to both gastric and colonic ulcers. This trial, conducted by Jeffrey Beshear, DVM, involved four Thoroughbred or Thoroughbred cross event horses, all with known histories of ulcers. Horse #1: Nine-year-old gelding with a chronic history of ulcers and treated with an ulcer product on three separate occasions. • Scope in January 2014 showed stomach inflammation and one small ulcer. Started on Alfa- Lox at 2 lb. per day and turned out on pasture. No other ulcer treatment was used. • Scope in February 2014 showed a clean and healthy stomach. Started into light work. • Scope in mid-May 2014 showed a clean and healthy stomach. Increased work load and starting traveling to local shows. • Scope in August 2014 showed a continued clean and healthy stomach. Horse #2: Nine-year-old TB cross mare with a chronic history of ulcers and treated with an ulcer product on two separate occasions. • Scoped in January 2014 showed only stomach inflammation. Started on Alfa-Lox at 2 lb. per day and turned out on pasture. No other ulcer treatment was used. • Followed the same scoping schedule as Horse #1 under the same rest and work program. The stomach remained clean and healthy throughout. Horse #3: 14-year-old gelding (4-star level) with a previous history of ulcers that had been on a daily ulcer preventative medication. • Began using Alfa-Lox at 2 lb. per day in January of 2014 due to a habit of decreased appetite while traveling. Use of Alfa-Lox maintained a great appetite during a period of heavy competition and travel. • Scope in mid-March of 2014 showed severe ulceration throughout the whole stomach and started an ulcer treatment for 60 days while maintaining feeding of 2 lb. of Alfa-Lox per day. • Scope in July of 2014 showed severe stomach ulcers again and started a half dose of ulcer treatment. • Scope in August of 2014 showed a clean and healthy stomach. This horse was also diagnosed with EPM at the same time and was put under treatment and taken off any work and show schedules. • All during the show schedule, he maintained a healthy appetite. Horse #4: Eight-year-old gelding TB/Trekaner cross with a previous history of ulcers. • Scope in Mid-March showed a clean and healthy stomach, however this horse had a lack of appetite, especially while traveling. • Began using Alfa-Lox at 1 lb. per day* in March of 2014 to improve appetite while traveling. • The horse maintained a healthy appetite and body condition through a rigorous spring and summer showing and traveling season. • No other scope procedure was performed as the horse has not exhibited any obvious signs of ulcer activity. Trial Conclusions: • Alfa-Lox has proven effective in helping to maintain a healthy stomach after ulcers were cured by treatment.** • Alfa-Lox will help maintain healthy appetites even for horses under intense work and stress. *below recommended feeding rate for ulcers, but works for appetite enhancement **horses in this trial were at lower levels of work and travel Alfa-Lox® Trial

Alfa-Lox® Trial

Triple Crown Alfa-Lox®Alfa-Lox is a revolutionary feed supplement that promotes gastric health by using a multiple nutrient-based approach for the health of the entire digestive tract. Chopped alfalfa hay provides a buffering effect for horses on or off pharmacological treatments. Mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) naturally stimulate immune function, while Omega-3 fatty acids reduce intestinal cell inflammation. L-Carnitine, an amino acid recommended by veterinarians to increase nutrient metabolism, improves cellular repair. Packaged in 40 lb. bags.

“Based on routine gastroscopy of several horses in our barn, I believe Alfa-Lox is an excellent way to maintain good gastric

health and prevent gastric ulceration.” — Jeffrey Beshear, DVM
