THE
PROJECTThe Ultimate Bedtime Story
In this project I was given a sentence that was ambiguous and left to be interpreted with an illustration. This project is geared toward children and with a solid storyline it could be used as a children’s book.

THECONCEPT
“You never knew where it was or when.” This was my sentence that I was to use for my illustration. After many sketches and ideas I came up with a sneaky kitten wanting to eat the unsuspecting goldfish. I decided to illustrate a scene where the goldfish had just noticed the presence of the adorably evil looking kitten and be surprised and comically fearful.

THECONCEPT
My research over pirates led me to French pirates and their fashions. Influenced by Japanese anime as well, I explored vibrant colors to create a primary and secondary color scheme.

THE
PROJECTLimericks I
To create a limerick from a set of adjectives and animals. For this first Limerick I received a ‘disorganized ferret’. I was to create a limerick from these two words and then illustrate the limerick or a part of the limerick.

PROJECTLimericks II

THECONCEPT
My concept for the Urban Legend project was to create a monster that would steal left out instruments and equipment in the middle of the night. I chose to create a blob monster that would absorb the instruments and take some shape to the digesting instruments. I have a student catching the blob monster in the act of eating a music stand.

THE

THECONCEPT
The story that came to mind when listening to my assigned song was one of ancient times. The song seemed to have Celtic origins which inspired the clothing for my character in the first panel. Due to the belief system in the 5th century I felt free to integrate magic and in this case, mermaids into the story. A woman, suspected to be magical, a mermaid is chased by the cloaked figure at the top of the cliff and is struck unconcious and pushed into the sea. This is the cloaked figure’s, a wizard, way of seeing if the woman is truly a mermaid. Seeing that she is once she is submerged he magicks chains to bind her and transport her to an auction where she is to be sold to circuses, aquariums, private collectors etc.The last panel shows her in an aquarium of sorts, trapped.
