SYSTEM OVERVIEW

This system provides three (3) forms of protection: burglary, fire, and emergency, dependingon the options set by your installer. The system consists of the Control Panel with a colortouch screen, wireless sensors that provide perimeter and interior burglary protection, andwireless smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. In addition, optional remote control key fobs,wireless panic buttons and keypads may have been provided or installed.The systemmonitors all protection “zones” and the system’s status. The Control Panel displaysmonitoring information and controls the alarm siren. Your system may also have been setupto send alarm and status reports to a Central Station and may have the capability for 2 wayvoice communications with the alarm monitoring operator.

FEATURESFollowing is a list of standard features and options that can be included in your system. Askyour installer which options are available to you and check the boxes that apply.• Stay and Away arming modes: Stay mode arms the system perimeter only and is used

typically at night when the premises are occupied. Away mode arms the system perimeterand interior; it is used when the premises are unoccupied.

• 60 user unique 4 digit codes to operate the system: The system supports one (1)master user code that can assign and maintain the other user codes.

• One of the 60 user codes functions as a duress code. Controlling the system with this codegives the appearance of normal operation, but using it sends a silent duress report to theCentral Station to initiate a silent alarm call for help.

• Voice announcements from the Control Panel: The system has a vocabulary of descriptivewords that can be assigned to sensors so each has a unique announcement such as “frontdoor” or “bedroom window” if desired.

• Home automation with the built in Z Wave controller for remote control of Z Waveenabled home appliances (optional feature).

• Alarm history with system event log: Each alarm and system alert is logged into thesystem’s memory. These events can be displayed and reviewed at the Control Panel orremotely by the Central Station.

• Real time clock and calendar shows on the system’s display and is used to time stampitems in the event log.

� 2 way voice communication: After an alarm, the system can automatically connect with aCentral Station operator so they can converse with people in the premises.

� Remote control of the system over the telephone.1

� Remote control of the system using a Web enabled device through the Internet.2

� Three optional 24 hour emergency functions: Panic, Fire, and Emergency. These functionscan be activated by buttons on the Control Panel, using wireless sensors, from thewireless keypad, or from portable pendant devices (such as the panic button remote).

BASIC OPERATIONFollowing are general operational conceptsthat your system supports. Understandingthese concepts will help you to use yoursecurity system to its fullest extent.

Sensor Types/ZonesThe system’s wireless sensors have beenassigned to selected “types” (often called“zones”). The sensor type determines howand when the system will react to a signalfrom the sensor. Some sensors are armed 24hours a day, other sensors are only armedwhen the system is armed.

Smoke, Heat, and Freeze ProtectionIf wireless smoke, heat, and freeze detectorshave been installed in your system, they arearmed 24 hours a day. They will sound analarm when smoke is detected and canreport the fire alarm to the Central Station.See "Smoke, Heat and Freeze Protection" onpage 21 for emergency planning andevacuation information.

Burglary ProtectionBurglary protection is provided by perimeterand interior sensors. When the system isarmed in the Away mode, both perimeterand interior sensors are armed and cantrigger an alarm. When the system is armedin the Stay mode, only the perimeter sensorsare armed and can trigger an alarm.Both arming modes offer an Exit Delay thatallows time to exit the premises withouttriggering the alarm. Upon re entry, an EntryDelay is enabled that allows you time todisarm the system.You can set sensors to sound a chime and/ora voice announcement when they aretriggered. This lets you monitor your doorsand windows while the system is disarmed.For more details, see "Burglary Protection" on page 9.

User CodesThe system installer has alreadyprogrammed amaster user code for yoursystem. This code can be used to control thesystem as well as assign and change theother user codes. Themaster user code canalso access several system setup settings inthe User Toolbox.

AlarmsWhen an alarm occurs, the Control Panel’ssiren and an external siren (if installed)sound for a preset time. During alarms andafter disarming, the alarm history buttondisplays all the alarms that have occurred,and which sensors were involved. The alarmhistory clears the next time the system isarmed or can be cleared manually.

MessagesYour security system supports receivingmessages from the Central Station. Themessages can be about system upgrades,additional services, special regional weatheralerts, etc.

Trouble AlertsThe system monitors itself for abnormaloperating conditions and will alert you iftrouble is detected. Trouble conditions canbe reported to the Central Station.

Wireless SensorsYour security system comes with wirelesssensors. Some sensors are visible, othersmay be hidden by doorjambs or where thesensor is mounted. MAIN DISPLAY SCREENSUse the touch screen to control and operatethe Control Panel. The touch screen includesa variety of buttons, indicators, and text fornavigation and system operation.At the top left of the Home screen, you canview the current system state. Scrolling textshows any pending alerts. The right side ofthe screen reveals a variety of system statusicons.

Home ScreenThe Home screen shows system status withicons to indicate system conditions. It alsodisplays the time and date. The Home screenhas Security, Services, Silent Control andDisplay Off buttons.

TIP: Tap the Services button to accessfeatures for controlling Z Wave devices.If Z Wave features are not programmed,this button will not appear.

• Tap the Home button on the panelto reveal the Home screen.

Security ScreenUse the Security screen to access the Arm,Menu, and Status screens. This screen alsoshows the current time and date. Ifmessages, alarms, or trouble alerts arepending, square buttons indicate thenumber of pending alarms or messages.

Ready to Arm ScreenUse the Ready to Arm screen to arm thesecurity system in Stay and Away mode. Youalso have the option to select the Entry Delay and Silent Exit check boxes to turnthose features ON.

Menu ScreenUse theMenu screen to gain access to theReady to Arm, Emergency, or Toolboxscreen.

Status ScreenUse the controls in the Status screen to viewthe system’s current status and to review ascrolling list of alerts in a log format. Thedate, time and nature of any alerts are listedin the displayed log.

• Tap the Silence button to stop thesystem status voice announcement.

• Tap the↑ or↓ arrows to scroll throughthe list status messages.

BURGLARY PROTECTION

When your system was set up by your installer, wireless sensors were placed to monitorspecific doors and windows. The installer selected these doors and windows as likely placeswhere an unlawful intrusion might occur and could be detected. Each sensor wasprogrammed to have the system react in a specific way. See "Installer Programmed Options" on page 40 for specifics about each sensor.Some sensor types (such as smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, panic buttons, etc.)are always active and can trigger an alarm at any time. Other sensors on protected doors andwindows are part of the burglary protection part of the system, and can be turned on or off.Turning on the burglary protection part of the security system is called “Arming the System.”The burglary protection part of the system can be armed in two modes: Stay mode or Awaymode.

SAMPLE FLOOR PLANRefer to the floor plan below. It shows a typical residential installation and the various types ofwireless sensors and their functions.

IMPORTANT: Security systems installed in a commercial location are for use only as a burglaralarm system and not for fire protection. This security system has been evaluated andcomplies with UL 1610. For commercial installations (UL 1610), only one method ofcommunication is to be used. This method of communication is a Cell Radio Module.

SENSOR STATUSThe security system constantly monitors all of the sensors attached to the protected doorsand windows in your home or business. The Control Panel knows if each door or window withsensors is open or closed. The open or closed condition of the protected doors and windows iscalled the sensor status.For maximum security, all the doors and windows on your premises should be closed whenyou leave the building. In some cases, such as when using the security system when you stayat home, you may want to leave some doors or windows open. The system recognizesbypasses to resolve the open doors or windows. See "Bypassing/Un‐Bypassing Sensors" onpage 12.NOTE: Before you can arm the system, you must close or bypass all doors and windows

with sensors.

CHECKING FOR CLOSED SENSORSIn most cases, you will be arming the security system with all of the sensor protected doorsand windows closed. The Control Panel provides easy ways to verify that all the sensorprotected doors and windows are closed before arming the system:• The  Home button lights green when all perimeter sensors are closed. The Home

button is not lit if any perimeter sensor is open. Open interior sensors do not change this indication.

• The Security button on the display’s Home screen lights green when all perimeter sensorsare closed. The Security button lights orange if any perimeter sensor is open. Open interior sensors do not change this indication.

• The Arm button on the display’s Security screen andMenu screen lights green when allperimeter sensors are closed. If any interior sensors are open (or when any motiondetector is triggered), a house icon displays on the status bar. The Arm button lightsorange if any perimeter sensor is open.

VIEWING EACH SENSOR’S STATUSThe Control Panel will also show you which sensor protected doors and windows are open.Your installer has programmed descriptive names for each sensor protected door andwindow. The Control Panel’s color display will show the names of which doors and windowsare open.• The top of the display on the Home, Security, andMenu screens shows sensor status. See

“System Status Icons” on page 26.Tapping the Status button also displays a list of open sensors and general system statusand alerts.

A The Status Bar shows the system mode and shows system status icons. See“System Status Icons” on page 26.

B The Arm button on the Security andMenu screens lights green when allperimeter sensors are closed. The Arm button lights orange if any perimetersensor is open.

C The Home button lights green when all perimeter sensors are closed. The Homebutton is not lit if any perimeter sensor is open.

D The icon displayed shows that an interior sensor is open. Other icons can appearhere as well. See “System Status Icons” on page 26.

DEALING WITH A SENSOR FALSE ALARMWhen armed, the Control Panel reports alarm conditions on all sensors, both visually (on thestatus bar, and through a system alert icon) and audibly (through voice and chimeannouncements). There are times, though rare, that an sensor will send an alarm condition tothe Control Panel when no alarm exists. The conditions of a false alarm vary depending on thetype of sensor and how that sensor communicates with the Control Panel.

• Perform a System, Sensor, and Panel Testto find any false alarm conditions. See"System Test" on page 34. See "Sensor Test" on page 34. See "Panel Test" onpage 34.

SENSOR BYPASSINGBefore the system can be armed, allprotected doors and windows must beclosed or bypassed. You can bypass opensensors on protected doors or windowsbefore arming the system. When a sensor isbypassed, the system ignores that the dooror window is open. Two types of sensorbypasses are available:

• Forced• Manual

In some cases (such as when using thesecurity system for protection when stayingat home) it may be desirable to leave somesensor protected doors or windows open.Temporarily bypassing a sensor for this use iscalled Force Bypassing.NOTE: Force bypasses are

automatically removed when thesystem is disarmed.

Sensor bypassing is also sometimes usedwhen a sensor requires service. A sensor’smagnet might be missing, or an externalswitch contact connected to a sensor mightbe faulty, causing the sensor to be detectedas open by the Control Panel. In theseconditions, you may need to schedule aservice call with your qualified alarm servicetechnician to repair or replace the troubledsensor. If the security system needs to bearmed before the sensor can be serviced,the sensor can be manually bypassed so therest of the system can be armed. Dependingon programming, manual bypasses canremain in place until they are manuallyremoved.

NOTE: Bypassed sensors offer noprotection and cannot cause analarm. Use bypass if you want toarm your system with one or moresensors open and intentionallyunprotected.

Force Bypass All SensorsIf any sensors are open when the system isdisarmed, the Arm button on the panel turnsYELLOW. When you tap the Arm button, thesystem automatically reveals the Bypass screen which lets you arm the system whileforcing it to bypass all open sensors.To force bypass all open sensors:1 Ensure a sensor is open, such as a door

or window.2 At the Security orMenu screen, tap the

YELLOW Arm button.3 At the Bypass screen, tap Bypass All.

This forces the system to bypass all ofthe open sensors in the list, includingany open interior sensors.

4 At the Enter Code screen, enter a validuser code to bypass the sensor.

NOTE: The Quick Bypass feature canalso be configured by the installer.For details, refer to the ControlPanel’s Installation & Programming Guide.

5 At the Ready to Arm (Sensors Bypassed) screen, tap Stay or Away.

Later, when you disarm the system, thebypassed sensors are returned to theirnormal state.

Bypassing/Un-Bypassing SensorsTo add or remove sensors on the system’sbypass list:1 At the Home screen, tapMenu. 2 At theMenu screen, tap Toolbox.3 Enter a valid user code to gain access to

the Toolbox.4 At the Toolbox (1 of 3) screen, tap

Bypassed Sensors.

5 At the Bypassed Sensors screen, chooseone of these options:• Add a sensor to the bypassed list.

Tap the BLUE button thatcorresponds to the desired sensor.When the button turns YELLOW, thesystem will bypass the sensor.

• View Only Bypassed Sensors. Placea checkmark in the Show Bypassed Only box.

• Remove a sensor from the bypassed list. Tap the YELLOW button thatcorresponds to the desired sensor.The button turns BLUE when it is nolonger on the bypassed list.

6 When finished, tap Back.

STAY MODEUse Stay mode to partially arm the systemwhen individuals will be occupying thepremises. This arms only the sensorprotected perimeter doors and windows. Itleaves interior motion sensors or otherinterior doors unarmed. In a home setting,Stay mode is typically used during theevening hours when occupants are no longerexpected to leave or enter the premises. Thisallows occupants to move about thepremises without triggering the burglaryalarm. Because all the interior burglaryprotection is OFF, an alarm would only betriggered when a sensor protectedperimeter door or window is opened.

Entry Delay in Stay ModeCertain sensors, such as a door, can beconfigured by your installer to use a delaytimer before triggering an alarm. Thisprovides a way for an authorized personreturning to enter using a predetermineddoor and disarm the system before an alarmis triggered.

To arm the system using an Entry Delay:1 At the Security orMenu screen, tap the

Arm button.2 At the Ready to Arm screen, place a

checkmark in the Entry Delay box. This isthe default setting.

NOTE: If you clear the checkmark fromthe Entry Delay box, an alarm willbe triggered when the sensor isopened while the system is armedin Stay mode.

3 Tap Stay to arm the system

NOTE: When re entering the premises,the user must enter through thedoor(s) programmed to use theEntry Delay timer. This gives theuser a specified amount of time todisarm the system. If the system isnot disarmed in time, an alarm istriggered.

Quick Exit in Stay ModeA programmable option, called Quick Exitmay be displayed on the Security screenwhile the system is armed in Stay mode. Tapthe Quick Exit button to start a timer toallow someone to exit or enter through asensor protected door programmed fordelay without having to disarm the entiresystem. When the delay timer runs out, thesystem returns to the normal Stay mode.

understand the options that have beenprogrammed for your system.

SILENT CONTROL IN STAY MODEThree options for silencing the beeps andannouncements are available when armingor disarming the system in Stay Mode.• At the Home or Security screen, tap the

Silent Control button.• At the Ready to Arm screen, check the

Silent Exit box.• On the Exit Delay screen, tap Silence.Selecting any of these options silences theControl Panel beeps and announcements,and when arming, selecting the optiondoubles the length of the Exit Delay.

Arming to Stay ModeUse Stay Mode to arm the system whenanyone is at home. Stay Mode normally hasan Entry Delay so a user with a user code canre enter without causing an alarm.1 Close all protected perimeter doors and

windows before arming.2 Verify that the button on the Control

Panel is lit GREEN indicating that thesystem is ready to arm. The Security andArm buttons on the display are GREENwhen all sensors are closed.

NOTE: If you want to arm the systemquietly without sounding anyannouncements, tap beforeperforming these steps:

• At Ready to Arm screen, check theSilent Exit box.

Or• During exit delay tap Silence.

3 At the Security orMenu screen, tapArm.

NOTE: If any perimeter door or windowsensors are open, the Bypassscreen appears. Close all thesensors displayed or tap Bypass Allto force bypass the displayedsensors.

NOTE: Bypassed sensors do not triggeran alarm. (To bypass sensors, entera user code unless the installer hasset the system for Quick Bypass).

4 On the Ready to Arm screen, check theEntry Delay box when arming the systemin Stay mode.If no one is expected to re enter, thesystem can be armed without an EntryDelay. All perimeter doors will trigger thealarm instantly. To arm with instantalarms for all exit/ entry perimeterdoors, clear the checkmark from theEntry Delay box.

5 Tap Stay to arm the system.NOTE: To arm the system, you may

need to enter a user code if yourinstaller has turned off thesystem’s Quick Arming feature.

6 The system will arm and shows the ExitDelay counting down. When the ExitDelay expires, the system is fully armedin the Stay mode.

AWAY MODEAway mode is for arming the system wheneveryone is leaving the premises. Awaymode arms all sensor protected perimeterdoors and windows, interior motion sensors,interior glass break sensors, and any othersensor protected interior doors. Thepremises must be unoccupied while thesystem is armed. Away mode is typicallyused for arming the system during thedaytime hours in a residential location, andnon business hours in a commercial location.When the system is armed in Away mode,you cannot move about the premiseswithout triggering the burglary alarm (if thesystem is installed with interior motiondetectors). An alarm also occurs if anysensor protected door or window is openedor glass breakage is detected (if glassbreakage detectors are installed in yoursystem).

Exit and Entry Delays in Away modeCertain sensors, such as a door, can be setupby your installer to have a delay beforetriggering an alarm. This provides a way foran authorized person to exit and re enter thepremises without triggering an alarm.• Exit Delay allows time to leave after

arming the system.• Entry Delay allows time to enter and

disarm the system before an alarm istriggered.

When arming the system inAway mode, an Entry Delaycheck box is shown on theArming screen. By default,this option is checked, so the

programmed delay doors allow time fordisarming the system after the door isopened. If you clear the Entry Delay box, thedelayed alarm trigger is removed from allsensor protected doors programmed fordelay. Those entrances instantly trigger analarm if they are opened in Away mode.NOTE: With the Entry Delay disabled,

you must remotely disarm thesystem with a wireless key fobbefore entering.

Exit Delay RestartThe Exit Delay Restart option extends theExit Delay one time if you need to re enterthe premises. With the Exit Delay Restartoption, when you re enter the premisesafter you have left, but before the Exit Delaytimer expires, the Exit Delay timer restarts,giving you the full length of time to leaveagain.TIP: The Exit Delay Restart option only works

once, each time the system is armed.

Silent Control in Away ModeThree options for silencing the beeps andannouncements are available when armingor disarming the system in Away mode.• On the Control Panel’s Home and

Security screens, a Silent Control buttonis displayed.

• On the Arming screen, a Silent Exitcheck box is displayed.

• On the Exit Delay screen, a Silencebutton is displayed.

Selecting any of these options silences theControl Panel beeps and announcements,and when arming; selecting Silent Controldoubles the length of the Exit Delay.

Quick Exit in Away ModeA programmable option called Quick Exitmay be displayed on the Security screenwhile the system is armed in the Awaymode. Tapping the Quick Exit button starts atimer to allow someone to exit or enterthrough a sensor protected doorprogrammed for delay without having todisarm the entire system. When the delaytimer runs out, the system returns to thenormal Away mode.TIP: If interior sensors are installed in the

system in certain areas, do not violatethose sensors when using the Quick Exitfeature in Away mode.

Auto Stay ModeThe system may have been programmed bythe installer for Auto Stay mode. If thisoption is on and the system is armed in Awaymode, if an exit/entry delay sensor is nottriggered before the Exit Delay expires (noone leaves the premises), the systemautomatically arms in Stay mode instead ofAway mode.NOTE: Quick options can be turned on

or off by your installer. Refer to"Installer Programmed Options" onpage 40, to see which options havebeen set for your system.

Arming to Away ModeUse the Away mode to arm the system wheneveryone will be leaving the home. TheAway mode normally has an Entry Delay sosomeone with a user code can re enterwithout causing an alarm. Interior andperimeter sensors are armed in the Awaymode.

1 Close all sensor protected doors andwindows before arming.

2 Verify that the button on the ControlPanel is lit green, indicating that thesystem is ready to arm. The Securitybutton and Arm button on the displaywill also be green when all perimetersensors are closed. If the icon isdisplayed on the status bar, an interiorsensor is open; be sure to close ormanually bypass the interior sensors oran alarm will occur.

3 To arm the system quietly withoutsounding any announcements, tap the

button before performing the nextsteps:• At the Arming screen check the

Silent Exit boxOr

• During the Exit Delay, tap Silence4 At the Security screen, or theMenu

screen, tap Arm.NOTE: If any perimeter door or window

sensors are open, the Bypassscreen appears. Close all thesensors displayed or tap Bypass Allto force bypass the displayedsensors.

NOTE: Bypassed sensors do not triggeran alarm.

To bypass sensors, enter a user codeunless the installer has set the system forQuick Bypass.

5 On the Arming screen, the Entry Delaycheck box option can be used with Awaymode.

• The system can be armed without anEntry Delay. All perimeter doors triggerthe alarm instantly. The system has to bedisarmed with a wireless key fob. To armwith all exit/entry perimeter doors asinstant, clear the Entry Delay check box.

6 Tap Away.To arm the system, enter a user code ifyour installer has turned off the system’sQuick Arming feature.

7 The system arms and shows the ExitDelay counting down. When the ExitDelay expires, the system is fully armedin the Away mode.

NOTE: When the system is armed inthe Away mode, beeps soundduring the Exit Delay (beepsbecome faster during the last 10seconds).

DISARMING THE SYSTEMTo stop the Control Panel from triggeringburglary alarms, the system needs to bedisarmed. Disarming turns off the burglarydetection part of the system for sensors thatare not 24 hour sensors. Disarming alsostops any type of alarm in process.

Disarm the system from Stay mode beforeexiting the premises. The system should bedisarmed from Away mode before or whileentering the premises. When disarming fromthe Control Panel or wireless keypad, enter avalid user code. A wireless key fob can alsobe used to disarm the system. Entering auser code is not required when disarmingwith a wireless key fob.An important feature of the Control Panel isits ability to warn you if an alarm hasoccurred while you were away. If an alarm

was triggered while the system was armed,the alarm siren runs for a preset length oftime then stops. When you enter to disarmthe system, instead of sounding the normalEntry Delay beeps, the Control Panel soundsrepeated fast beeps to warn you that analarm has occurred while you were away.

When you enter your home todisarm the system, if you hearfast repeated beeps instead ofthe normal entry delay beeps,

Disarming from Stay ModeDisarm the system from Stay mode beforeexiting the premises.1 At the Home screen, tap for Silent

Disarming from Away ModeThe system should be disarmed from Awaymode while entering the premises.1 Enter the premises through a designated

Entry Delay sensor protected door.2 The Disarm Code screen displays on the

Control Panel and the Entry Delay beepssound. The left side of the screen showsevents that have occurred while thesystem was armed.

3 Enter a valid user code to disarm thesystem.• In case you tap the wrong key, the

button erases the entire entry.

IF A BURGLARY ALARM OCCURSIf an armed sensor is tripped while thesystem is armed in the Stay or Away mode,an alarm occurs and the siren sounds.Delayed sensors start the Entry Delay toallow time to disarm the system. Instantsensors trigger the alarm right away. Mostsensors trigger the alarm siren, somesensors may be set to trigger a silent alarmwithout sounding the siren.

Burglary Alarm SirenIf a burglary alarm is tripped while thesystem is armed, the Control Panel soundsthe alarm siren for a preset time (see"Installer Programmed Options" on page 40).After the time expires, the siren will stopsounding.The system limits the number of times asensor can re trigger an alarm while thesystem is armed. The setting is one to six

times per sensor, per arming period (see"Installer Programmed Options" on page 40).

Alarm MemoryIf an alarm has occurred while the systemwas armed, the Disarm screen shows thetime and date of the alarm and the sensor(s)that triggered the alarm.

After the system is disarmed, the Alarm Memory screen appears. The Alarm Memory screen shows the sensor(s) thatcaused the alarm. If more than one sensorwas triggered, the display shows the order inwhich the alarms occurred.

The alarm memory automatically clears thenext time the system is armed. You can alsocheck the Clear Alarm History box and tapOk to manually clear the alarm memory (24hour fire and CO sensors that are stillviolated remain in alarm memory).

Optional 2-Way Voice Communications2 way voice communications provides amethod for alarm verification and canprovide emergency assistance. The ControlPanel contains a built in microphone thatcan monitor sounds around the area of theControl Panel. The built in microphone andspeaker allow 2 way voice communicationswith a Central Station operator after analarm. The operator can converse withpeople in the premises through the ControlPanel’s speaker and microphone.Your installer can set the system to use 2way voice communications after an alarmand/or after a panic alarm is triggered.NOTE: If a panic alarm or sensor is set

for a silent alarm, the operator canonly listen and will not be able totalk. This is for your protection.

KEY FOB: ARMING AND DISARMINGYour system may be equipped with one ormore wireless key fobs. Up to eight (8) keyfobs can be used to control the systemremotely. Each key fob has four (4) buttonsand can perform five (5) functions. A user code is not required when arming ordisarming the system with a wireless key fob.Several key fob options can be set by theinstaller. See "Installer Programmed Options" on page 40.

Arm with a Key FobStay ModeTo arm the system to Stay mode using a keyfob, tap the Stay button.

WIRELESS KEYPAD: ARMING AND DISARMINGYour system may be equipped with one ormore wireless keypads. Up to four (4)wireless keypads can be used to control thesystem remotely from the main ControlPanel.Two types of wireless keypads are available.A wireless keypad without a screen, and awireless touch screen keypad.The wireless touch screen keypad operatesvirtually the same as the Control Panel. Eachstandard wireless keypad has buttons forentering user codes, Stay and Awaymodebuttons, and Fire and Police emergencybuttons.Check the See “Installer Programmed Options” on page 40. section in this guide toverify which 24 hour Fire and Policeemergency buttons have been enabled bythe installer.

SMOKE, HEAT AND FREEZE PROTECTIONYour residential system should be installedwith Smoke, Heat, and Freeze alarms as wellas Carbon Monoxide detectors as a part ofan overall fire, heat, and gas protectionsystem. Fire protection is active 24 hours aday, 365 days a year.NOTE: In Turkey, systems are installed

with Smoke/Heat alarms.

In the event of a fire or poisonous CO gasemergency, the installed smoke or carbonmonoxide detector automatically activatesyour security system. Not only will the firealarm itself emit a loud sound, the ControlPanel emits an intermittent and loud hornon an external sounder (if an externalsounder has been installed). The fire alarmsound continues until the timer expires onthe Fire Alarm or until you enter a user codeat the Control Panel.If the Alarm Sounds:• Get out and stay out. Never go back

inside for people or pets.• If you have to escape through smoke,

get down low and go under the smoke.• Call the fire department from outside

your home.

Initiating a Fire Alarm ManuallyIf you become aware of a fire emergencybefore your detector(s) sense an issue:IMPORTANT: Always yell “Fire” to alert

everyone in proximity.

1 Go the Control Panel and tap theEmergency button.

2 At the Emergency screen, press andhold the Fire button for two (2) seconds.This action triggers the fire alarm’ssounder and siren. You can also triggerthe fire alarm from the wireless keypadby holding down the Fire button.

3 Get out and stay out of the dwelling.Never go back inside for people or pets.

4 Call your local Fire Department from asafe location outside the dwelling.

If the Fire Alarm Sounds AutomaticallyIf the fire alarm sirens are sounding:1 If flames and smoke are present, yell

“Fire” to alert everyone else.2 Evacuate all occupants from the

premises and call your local FireDepartment from a safe location.

OR1 If no flames or smoke are apparent,

investigate the causes of the alarm.2 Go to the Control Panel and enter your

user code to stop the fire sounder andsirens.

3 Review the AlarmMemory to determinewhich sensor caused the alarm.

4 Go to the sensor and look for a possiblereason the sensor tripped.

5 Correct the condition that caused thedetector to trigger an alarm.

Silencing a False Fire AlarmIf the fire alarm is sounding due to adetector sensing burnt food or some othernon emergency condition:1 Silence the fire alarm sounder by

entering your user code.2 Review the alarm memory to determine

which sensor caused the alarm (See"Alarm Memory" on page 18). If thealarm restarts, there may still be smokeinside the detector’s sensor. Re enteryour user code to stop the alarm fromcontinuing to sound.

3 Fan the detector for 30 seconds to clearthe detector’s sensor chamber.

4 After the problem has been corrected,from the Alarm Memory screen, checkClear Alarm History, then tap Ok.

NOTE: Violated Fire and CO sensorsclear from Alarm Memory screenonly when the sensors return tonormal operation.

5 Carefully inspect your premises for fire,heat, or gas if your Fire Alarms and CODetectors remain in alarm state.

RECOMMENDED FIRE ALARM LOCATIONSIn the United States, this equipment shall be installed in accordance with the National Fire Alarm Code, ANSI/NFPA 72, (National Fire Protection Association, Batterymarch Park, Quincy,MA 02269). Printed information describing proper installation, operation, testing,maintenance, evacuation planning, and repair service is to be provided with smoke detectorsand alarms.

NFPA Standard #72The National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Standard #72 recommends the followingplacement for smoke detectors:

Early warning fire detection is best achieved by the installation of fire detectionequipment in all rooms and areas of the household. The equipment should be installed asfollows:• Install a smoke detector outside each separate sleeping area, in the immediate vicinity

of the bedrooms and on each additional story of the family living unit, includingbasements and excluding crawl spaces and unfinished attics.

Also install smoke detectors in the living room, dining room, bedrooms, kitchen,hallway(s), finished attics, furnace room, utility and storage rooms, and attached garages.

Do Not Mount a Smoke Alarm Here:• Directly above a sink, cooker, stove, or oven• Within 5 feet (1.5 m) of any cooking appliance• Next to a door or window that would be affected by drafts (extractor fan or air vent)• Outside• In or below a cupboard• Where air flow would be obstructed by curtains or furniture• Where dirt or dust could collect and block the sensor• Where it could be knocked, damaged, or inadvertently removed

Fire warning equipment for residential occupancies are capable of protecting about 50% ofthe occupants in potentially fatal fires. Victims include the elderly, children, and the physicallyor mentally impaired. Victims include any persons who cannot escape even when warnedearly enough that escape should be possible. For these people, other strategies such asprotection in place or assisted rescue or escape would be necessary.• Studies show that Smoke/Heat/Freeze Alarms may not awaken all sleeping individuals.

Individuals in the household who are capable of assisting others are responsible forproviding assistance to those who may not be awakened by the audible alarm or thosewho may be incapable of safely evacuating the area unassisted.

• A battery powered alarm must have the specific battery type installed, be in goodcondition, and be mounted properly.

• The use of alcohol or drugs may also impair the ability to hear the audible alarm. Formaximum protection, ensure that an audible alarm is installed on every floor.

• Smoke/Heat Alarms only provide protection to the residence if smoke actually reaches thealarm. The Smoke/Heat Alarm is not a substitute for an insurance policy. Home ownersand renters should have adequate insurance to protect their properties.

Emergency Action PlanEstablish and regularly practice a plan of escape with all members of your household in theevent of fire. The National Fire Protection Association recommends the following steps:1 Mount your detector or your interior or exterior sounders where they can be heard by all.2 Determine two means of escape from each room. One path of escape should lead to the

door that permits normal exit from the building. The other should be an alternate escape(such as a window) should the path to a door be impassable. Station an escape ladder atsuch windows if there is a long drop to the ground.

3 Sketch a floor plan of the building. Show windows, doors, stairs, and rooftops that can beused to escape. Indicate escape routes for each room. Keep these routes free fromobstructions and post copies of the escape routes in every room.

4 Ensure that all bedroom doors are shut while you are asleep to prevent deadly smokefrom entering while you escape.

5 Try the door. If the door is hot, check your alternate escape route. If the door is cool, openit cautiously. Be prepared to slam the door shut if smoke or heat rushes in.

6 When smoke is present, crawl on the ground. Do not walk upright, since smoke rises andmay overcome you. Clearer air is near the floor.

7 Escape quickly, but do not panic.8 Establish a place outdoors, away from your house, where everyone can meet and then

take steps to contact the authorities and account for those missing. Choose someone toassure that nobody returns to the house —many die going back.

EMERGENCY FUNCTIONS

24-HOUR EMERGENCY BUTTONSThree 24 hour emergency functions are available on the Control Panel:

• Panic• Fire• Emergency

You can activate emergency functions using the Control Panel, as well as wireless sensors,wireless keypads or portable pendant devices such as the panic button remote.Tap the button to reveal the Emergency screen. This button does not trigger an alarm.During the installation, your installer programmed the emergency buttons that are displayedon the Emergency screen. If, however, no emergency functions are available, an informationscreen displays. To see which emergency functions are available on your system, tap thebutton.In the event of an emergency, press and hold the emergency button for at least two (2) seconds to activate the alarm.

PanicThe Panic (or police) button sends an immediate panic report to the Central Station. Duringinstallation, the installer either set the system to sound the siren when the button is pressed,or to not sound the siren, but to trigger a silent alarm.FireThe Fire button sends an immediate fire report to the Central Station. The Control Panelsounds the fire horn when the button is pressed.EmergencyThe Emergency button sends an immediate report to the Central Station. The Control Panelsounds the siren when the emergency button is pressed.

SYSTEM TROUBLE ALERTSThe system continually polls wired sensors,wireless sensors and the Control Panel itselfto ensure optimal operating conditions at alltimes. If trouble is detected, the systemalerts you.The system monitors the followingconditions among others:• AC power to the Control Panel• The telephone line (optional)• The cell telephone connection (if used)• The Control Panel’s backup battery• The sensor’s batteries• Sensor supervisory status (if used)• External sounder connection• Sensor radio reception and sensor

tampering (sensor’s case opened) whendisarmed

• Control Panel tampering (panel’s caseopening) when disarmed (optional)

• Communication to the Central StationYou have the option to have any or alltrouble conditions reported to the CentralStation. If a trouble condition exists, serviceyour system immediately to ensure no lapsein service or protection.

TROUBLE ALERT ICONIf the system detects trouble, it flashes thetrouble alert icon on the Security screenand sounds 6 alert beeps every minute.Scrolling text along the top of the displayalso describes the trouble condition.The trouble alert icon displays anumber in the upper right corner that showsthe number of current trouble alerts.The trouble alert icon flashes until thetrouble alerts are acknowledged, then itremains constantly lit until all the troublesare corrected. When all troubles arecorrected, the icon disappears completely.

VIEW THE CURRENT TROUBLE ALERTS1 To display all current trouble alerts, tap

the Trouble Alert icon.2 View the listed trouble events. If there

are more than 3 alerts, use the↑ and↓arrows to scroll through the list.

3 After viewing the trouble events, tap Okto acknowledge. This action silences thealert beeps.

TROUBLE ALERT BEEP HOLD-OFFDuring the installation, as an option, thesystem can be programmed by your installerto suppress the trouble alert sounder from10 pm to 9 am. Any trouble alerts will still bedisplayed and reported (if enabled), but thesounder does not beep during nighttimehours. Some trouble conditions may clearautomatically while other trouble conditionsmay require service to correct. If a troublecondition still exists after 9 am, the sounderbeeps to indicate trouble.NOTE: Regardless of whether the

trouble alert sounder issuppressed or not, every troublecondition is always displayed onthe trouble alert list and recordedin the system history event log.

The top line of the Control Panel’s display isthe status bar that shows the current systemmode, the status of the sensors, and anycurrent system trouble alerts. Special iconsare displayed on the right side to providevisual indications of the system’s currentcondition.

AC POWER ONThe AC Power icon shows thestatus of the AC power to theControl Panel. A WHITE plugappears when AC power ispresent.

AC POWER OFFThe AC Power icon shows thestatus of the AC power to theControl Panel. A RED “X” appearsover the WHITE plug when ACpower is absent.

PHONE LINE FAILUREIf the Control Panel detects thatthe telephone line isdisconnected, the phone linefailure icon appears.

SOUNDER DISABLEDIf the system’s internal sounderhas been lowered and externalsounder has been disabled by theinstaller for testing, the sounder

disabled icon appears. It also flashes toindicate silent arming.

LOW BACKUP BATTERYIf the Control Panel’s backupbattery tests low, the low backupbattery icon appears.

TEST MODEThis icon displays when thesystem is in Walk Test mode.

TOUCH SCREEN KEYPAD TRAFFICAn up arrow indicates the panel issending information to the touchscreen keypad (if installed). Adown arrow indicates the touchscreen keypad is sendinginformation to panel.

CELL RADIOIf the option GSM (Cellular) RadioModule is installed, the Cell Radioicon appears while the ControlPanel is receiving Over the Air(OTA) firmware updates.

MESSAGINGYour security system supports receivingmessages from the Central Station. Themessages can be about system upgrades,additional services, special regional weatheralerts, etc. The messages can be sent for allsystem users to read, or as confidentialmessages that only the Master User canread.

Messages can be tagged by the sender inthe following manner:• Standard (blue message icon)• Urgent (yellow message icon)• Emergency Priority (red message icon)Up to 31 text messages can be stored in theControl Panel’s memory. You can reviewthem through the Control Panel’s display.Displayed messages are sorted in thefollowing manner:• Type• Date• Alphabetically

DISPLAYING MESSAGESWhen a message is sent to the ControlPanel, 3 beeps sound and the message icondisplays on the Security screen. Standardmessages display a blue message icon

READING MESSAGESWhen a message icon appears on yourHome screen:1 Tap the message icon button. The

message list displays. The status barshows the number of messages inmemory, number of unread, andnumber of priority messages. Unreadmessages display in bold.

2 Use the↑ or↓ arrows to scroll throughthe message list.

3 Tap the message line itself to read themessage.

4 Tap Back to return to the message list,or tap Delete to erase the message.

READING CONFIDENTIAL MESSAGESNOTE: When a confidential message is

sent to the Control Panel, only theMaster User with themaster user code can read the message.

When a confidential message appears, theMaster User should do the following:1 Tap themessage line on themessage list.

If the message is a confidential message,the Code Entry screen appears.

2 Enter themaster user code. Other user codes are not accepted.

3 View the displayed message.4 As detailed in "Reading Messages" on

page 27, either save or delete.

FILTERING MESSAGESTo select the type of messages that aredisplayed on the message list, use theMessage Filter screen.1 To display theMessage Filter screen, tap

Filters.

2 Check or clear the boxes of the types ofmessages to display. To check all types ofmessages, tap All. To return to themessage list, tap Back.

The filters will reset when the followingoccurs:• You select All Types• Your message reviewing is over• The system displays the Security screen

SORTING MESSAGESTo select the order in which messages aredisplayed on the message list, use theMessage Sort screen.1 To display theMessage Sort screen, tap

Sorts.

2 To sort the messages, pick from thefollowing options:• Date received• Date expired• Alphabetically

3 To reverse the display order, check theReverse box.

4 To list urgent messages first, check thePriority box.

REMOTE CONTROL BY TELEPHONEYou can control your system remotely usinga standard telephone (requires the optionalPOTS module available only in the UnitedStates and Canada). Remote control isperformed by calling the system andresponding to spoken questions from thesystem. By pressing certain telephone keys,you can do the following:• Arm the system• Disarm the system• Bypass sensors• Query system statusNOTE: At the time your system was

installed, your installer needed toenable the optional remotecontrol by telephone feature.Otherwise you will be unable touse the remote control bytelephone feature.

CALLING THE SYSTEMDuring installation, your installer selectswhether your system supports the remotetelephone option or not. If this feature isenabled, the system requires you to calltwice within 30 seconds before it answersyour call.1 Call the telephone number that the

Control Panel is connected to. Wait forone or two rings, then hang up.

2 Within 10 45 seconds, call the ControlPanel again. The Control Panel answersthe call.

CONTROLLING THE SYSTEM REMOTELYTalk to your dealer to see if your system wasinstalled with the POTS module. Once youare connected with the system via thetelephone, you can check on system statusand remotely control the major functions.TIP: The announcements that the system

plays over the telephone do not soundout of the Control Panel’s speaker.

1 After the Control Panel answers, it s asksfor your user code. You have 15 secondsto enter your user code using thetelephone keys. If you don’t enter avalid user code in 15 seconds, thesystem disconnects the call.

If 2 attempts using 2 telephone calls toenter a user code within a five (5)minute time frame fail to enter a validcode, the system disconnects and doesnot respond to telephone commands for30 minutes.

2 After the system has accepted your user code, it announces the system status,then the remote command options.The system waits up to 60 seconds foreach remote command beforeautomatically disconnecting. If youknow the remote command number,you can enter it at any time. Use thefollowing telephone keys to control yoursystem.:

Press 1 For System Status ReportPress 2 To Arm the System in Away modePress 3 To Arm the System in Stay modePress 4 To Disarm the systemPress 5 To turn ON Auxiliary Output (if used)Press 6 To turn OFF Auxiliary Output (if used)Press 7 To stop System Status ReportPress 8 To Hang UpPress 9 To Repeat the Command MenuPress # To Bypass All Open Sensors and Arm the

NOTE: Remember to tap 8 to hang upwhen you are finished remotelycontrolling the system.

TIP: There is no Exit Delay when youremotely arm the system.

TIP: The Auto Stay feature (if enabled) does not functionwhen you remotely arm thesystem.

BYPASSING SENSORS REMOTELYIf there are open sensors when you try toarm the system remotely, the systemannounces the current status and asks: “To bypass sensors and arm, press pound.”1 To bypass all open sensors and arm the

system, press #.After the open sensors are bypassed, thesystem arms in the mode you selected andannounces the system status to you.

USER MANAGEMENTThe system installer has programmed amaster user code for your system. This codecan be used to control the system, as well asto assign and change the other 59 user codes and access options. Themaster user code can also access several system settingsin the Toolbox.NOTE: The other 59 user codes are

restricted from accessing settingsin the Toolbox.

User Code SetupIMPORTANT: The holder of themaster user 

code is the only user who haspermission to set up other user codes.

To set up the user codes:1 At the Home screen, tap Security.2 At the Security screen, tapMenu.3 At theMenu screen, tap Toolbox.4 Enter themaster user code to access the

Toolbox5 On the Toolbox (1 of 3) screen, tap User 

Management.

6 The Users Management screen displays3 users at a time. Use the↓ and↑arrows to scroll through the list.

Adding a User CodeIMPORTANT: User codes 0000 and 0001

are not permitted.

1 Tap one of the Add User buttons.2 Enter a unique four (4) digit code for the

new user code. Then tap Ok.

3 Enter the code again to confirm it. Thentap Ok.

4 At the Confirmation screen, tap OK toreturn to the User Management screen.

User Code ValidityAfter the Confirmation screen appears andyou click Ok, the user codes Access Optionscreen appears. Select one of the threeoptions to validate the user code:

• Select Always to set this user codeto always be valid. Tap Back.

• Select Never to set this user code tonever be valid. Tap Back.

• Select By Schedule to set this user code to be valid only for selecteddays and/or times.

User Code Access SchedulesYou can set up user codes with one or moreAccess Schedules. Access Schedules limitaccess to your system to people with user codes (such as maintenance personnel,service, or cleaning personnel).

Adding/Editing User Access Schedules1 If you selected By Schedule for the user 

code, the Edit Schedules buttonappears.

2 To select or edit an existing user codeAccess Schedule, tap Edit Schedules.You can also create a new user schedulefrom the Edit Schedule screen.

3 The User Access Schedules screendisplays all current schedules for theuser code.

4 To add a new schedule, tap Add Schedule or to edit a schedule, tap anexisting schedule.

5 You can select 1 of 3 Schedule types:• Recurring. Recurring applies to the

days of the week and time periodthat this user code is valid.

• Date. Date applies to a single specificdate and time period that this user code is valid.

• Date Range. Date Range defines astarting date, an ending date, andtime period during which this user code is valid.

Recurring User Access SchedulesYou can define up to 7 Access Schedules foruser codes with and Access Option ofAlways.1 For the schedule type, select Always.2 To view the User Access Schedule

screen, tap the calendar button.3 Select the day(s) of the week that this

user code will be valid with the checkboxes.

4 Tap the left and right time buttons to setthe starting and ending times that thisuser code will be valid on the selecteddays of the week.

5 Tap Ok to accept the schedule, or Cancelto return to the Schedule Type screen.

Date User Access Schedule1 For the schedule type, select Date.2 To view the User Access Schedule

screen, tap the calendar button.3 To set the only month, day, and year that

this user code is valid, tap the datebutton.

4 Tap the left and right time buttons to setthe start and end times that this user code is valid on that date.

5 Tap Ok to accept the schedule, or Cancelto return to the Schedule Type screen.

Date Range User Access Schedule1 For Schedule type, select Date Range.

Deleting User Access Schedule1 On the User Management screen, select

a user code that has a calendar scheduleicon.

select the schedule to delete.

4 On the Schedule Type screen tap Delete.5 A confirmation screen appears to verify

that you want to delete the User AccessSchedule. If Ok, tap Delete Schedule ortap Cancel to return to the User Access Schedule screen.

Deleting a User Code1 To delete a user code from the User 

Management screen, tap the Userbutton.

2 Tap Delete.3 A confirmation screen appears to verify

that you want to delete the user code. IfOk, tap Delete User or tap Cancel toreturn to the user codes Access Optionscreen.

4 A confirmation screen appears displayingthe user code that was deleted. Tap Ok.

TIP: You can change themaster user code, but you cannot delete it.

Duress User Code SetupThe Duress Code (User Code #8) initiates asilent alarm for help by secretly sending aDuress report to the Central Station.Use the duress code when someone isforcing you to operate your security systemagainst your will. When you use the duress code, a silent report is immediately sent tothe Central Station and they will dispatchhelp.

Setting the Duress User Code1 On the User Management screen, tap

the User 8 (Duress) button.2 A confirmation screen appears: Tap

Create Duress User.

3 Enter a four (4) digit code to use as thenew duress code. Then tap Ok.

4 To confirm the duress code, enter thecode again and tap Ok.

5 A confirmation screen appears. Tap Ok.6 The User 8 edit screen appears. To return

to the User Management screen, tapBack.

Secret Duress ButtonOn the Home screen, the system logo alwaysappears in the lower right corner. The system logo is the secret duress button.

While ArmedWith the system armed, tapping the logodisplays the standard disarm code entryscreen. Use a valid user code or a duress user code to disarm the system. The systemdisarms normally, but a silent duress reportis sent to the Central Station and they willdispatch help. If supported by the 2GIGAlarm dealer, the left side of this screen alsodisplays contact information for the alarmdealer or Central Station.While DisarmedYou can also use the secret duress buttonwhile the system is disarmed. Tapping thesystem logo reveals the Enter Code screen.Enter the duress code to send a silent duressreport to the Central Station and they willdispatch help. The system remains disarmed.If supported by the 2GIG Alarm dealer, theleft side of this screen also displays contactinformation for the alarm dealer or CentralStation.

SYSTEM HISTORYThe Control Panel keeps a log of systemevents in the order in which they occur. Eachevent is marked with the date and time thatthe event occurred.To make reading the log easier, the systemhistory display can be filtered to showselected events only. The events that can befiltered for the system history log display are:• Arm or disarm of the system• Bypasses of sensors (force bypasses and

manual bypasses)

• Alarms (alarms are displayed with a redstripe)

• Alerts (alerts are displayed with a yellowstripe)

Some system events always displayregardless of the filters selected. Theseevents include:• Walk test started or terminated• Programming mode started or

terminatedTo view the system history log:1 At the Home screen, tap Security.2 At the Security screen, tapMenu.3 On theMenu screen, tap Toolbox.4 Enter a valid user code to access the

toolbox.5 At the Toolbox (1 of 3) screen, tap

System History. The log of system eventsappears. Use the↑ and↓ arrows toscroll through the log.

6 To choose the events to display, tapFilters.

7 Select the events to display with thecheck boxes. Tap All to select all thecheck boxes, or None to clear all thecheck boxes.

SYSTEM TESTEven though your security system is selfmonitoring, it is still important to regularlytest the system manually. The System Test isused to test each of the sensors in thesystem. Themaster user code is required totest the system. While the system is in testmode, a “T” icon blinks on the upper right ofthe display.

IMPORTANT: Test your Security Systemweekly to ensure continued protectionand proper system operation.

To test the system:1 At the Home screen, tap Security.2 At the Security screen, tapMenu.3 At theMenu screen, tap Toolbox.4 To access the system test, enter the

master user code.5 At the Toolbox (1 of 3) screen, tap

System Test.

Sensor TestWhen each sensor is tested, the ControlPanel does the following:• Beeps and announces the sensor’s name• Displays green bar lights by the sensor

name• Displays green signal bars to show the

strength of that sensor’s wireless signal

NOTE: Start and stop test reports aresent to the Central Station.

1 At the System Test: Console screen, a listof sensors appears. Use the↑ and↓arrows to scroll through the list.

2 Go to each sensor listed, and trigger it.• For door or window sensors, open

and close the door or window.• For motion detectors, stay out of the

protected area for five (5) minutes,then walk through the area.

• For portable sensors and wireless keypads, tap a button.

• For smoke, CO, or glass break detectors, tap the detector’s testbutton.

TIP: When a red bar is displayed for a sensor,the test has failed.

3 When all sensors have been tested,tap OK. Then continue with the Panel Test.

Panel TestThe panel test checks the Control Panel’sindicators and sounder.1 At the System Test: Console screen, a list

of tests to perform on the panel appears.Use the↑ and↓ arrows to scrollthrough the list.

2 Tap each button in the list. Then tap Yesor No to respond to the test question.

Cell Phone TestIf your security system is equipped with abuilt in cellular radio, it can use it to sendalarmmessages and system trouble or statusmessages to the Central Station. You can alsouse the system’s cellular radio for any 2 wayaudio communications with the CentralStation.IMPORTANT: Test your Security System

CHIME SETUPOn doors and windows monitored bysensors, the system can sound a chime toannounce that the door or window wasopened. Sensors can also be set to have theControl Panel say the name of the opening.TIP: The chime and voice announcements

only sound while the system is disarmed.

At the time of installation, the installerprograms each sensor’s chime option. Theperson with themaster user code canchange the chime options for each sensor tofurther customize the system as desired.

TIP: As a global system option, the chimesfor all the system’s sensors can be turnedon or off using the Chime check box ontheMenu screen.

To setup the chime options individually foreach sensor:1 At the Home screen, tap Security.2 At the Security screen, tapMenu.NOTE: Select or clear the Chime and

Voice check boxes to turn thesystem chimes and voice

announcements ON or OFF (exceptfor alarm voice messages).

3 At theMenu screen, tap Toolbox.4 Enter themaster user code to gain

access to the Toolbox.5 At the Toolbox (1 of 3) screen, tap Chime 

Setup. The Chime Setup screen displayseach of the installed sensors that canchime and the option currently set forthe sensor.

To change the sensor’s chime options,tap the sensor button.

ADJUSTING THE BRIGHTNESS/VOLUMEYou can adjust the brightness of the ControlPanel’s display and the volume of thesystem’s speaker that is best suited to yourinstalled system.To set the brightness and volume:1 At the Home screen, tap Security.2 At the Security screen, tapMenu.3 At theMenu screen, tap Toolbox.4 Enter themaster user code to gain

access to the Toolbox.

5 At the Toolbox (1 of 3) screen tapBrightness/Volume. You can set thebrightness using the top bar. Adjust thelevel from 1 to 12 using the buttons oneach end of the bar.

6 You can set the speaker volume for thechimes and announcements on thebottom bar. Adjust the level from 1 to 12using the buttons on each end of the bar.

NOTE: The volume setting does noteffect the alarm sounder volume.

7 When you are finished, tap Ok.

ADJUSTING THE BACKLIGHT TIMEOUTThe backlight timeout sets the length of timethat the display stays lit after use. You canadjust the backlight to 30 seconds, 1, 2, 5, or

10 minutes, or to always (to light the displayat all times).NOTE: To conserve the Control Panel’s

backup battery, during an ACpower failure, the display goesdark after 30 seconds regardless ofthis setting.

To set the display backlight time:1 At the Home screen, tap Security.2 At the Security screen, tapMenu.3 At theMenu screen, tap Toolbox.4 Enter a valid user code to gain access to

the Toolbox.5 At the Toolbox (1 of 3) screen, tap the→

arrow.6 At the Toolbox (2 of 3) screen, tap

Backlight Time‐out.

7 Choose one of the display backlighttimes and tap Ok.

CLEANING THE TOUCH SCREENThere is a special option for the ControlPanel that enables you to clean the touchscreen display. Dialer DelayIf an alarm occurs, the system will delaydialing for a short time to allow you todisarm the system in case the alarm wasaccidentally tripped. The dialer delayreduces nuisance traffic to the CentralStation and can prevent receiving fines thatmany cities impose when police respond to afalse alarm. Your installer also can programthe system for no dialer delay.NOTE: The dialer delay is also known as

ALARM DIALING EQUIPMENTIf your home has specially wired alarmequipment connected to the telephone line,ensure that the installation of any othernon alarm devices does not disable youralarm equipment. If you have questionsabout what will disable alarm equipment,consult your telephone company or aqualified installer.IMPORTANT: When programming

emergency numbers or making test callsto emergency numbers remember thefollowing:

1 Remain on the line and briefly explain tothe dispatcher the reason for the call.

2 Perform such activities in the off peakhours, such as early mornings or laterevenings.

3 Follow the central station operator’sinstructions for updated dialerprogramming, if re programming of thedialer is required.

Alarm dialing equipment must be able toseize the telephone line and place a call inan emergency situation. It must be able todo this even if other equipment(telephone(s), answering system, computermodem, etc.) already has the telephone linein use. To do so, alarm dialing equipmentmust be connected to a properly installedRJ31X that is electrically in series with andahead of all other equipment attached tothe same telephone line. Proper installationis depicted in the figure on this page. If youhave any questions concerning theseinstructions, you should consult yourtelephone company or a qualified installerabout installing the RJ31X jack and alarmdialing equipment for you.

Alarm Installation Notes to InstallerFor products equipped with an RJ31X jack,the line seize feature shall be verified. Becertain the local telephone and incomingline connections are not reversed. Theselines are not reversed if the alarm dialer cancommunicate with the central station.

ALARM SYSTEM LIMITATIONSThis security system can not offer guaranteed protection against burglary, fire, or otheremergencies. Any alarm system, whether commercial or residential, is subject to compromiseor failure to warn for a variety of reasons. For example:• Intruders may gain access through unprotected openings or have the technical

sophistication to bypass an alarm sensor or disconnect an alarm warning device.• Intrusion detectors (sensors) do not work without power. Battery operated devices do not

work without batteries, with dead batteries, or if the batteries are not put in properly.Devices powered solely by AC do not work if their AC power supply is cut off for anyreason, however briefly.

• Signals sent by wireless sensors may be blocked or reflected by metal before they reachthe alarm Control Panel, even if the signal path has been recently checked during a weeklytest. Blockage can occur if a metal object has been moved into the sensor’s signal path.

• A user may not be able to reach a panic or emergency button quickly enough.• Telephone lines needed to transmit alarm signals from a premises to a Central Station may

be out of service or temporarily out of service. Telephone lines are also subject tocompromise by sophisticated intruders.

• Even if the system responds to the emergency as intended, however, occupants may haveinsufficient time to protect themselves from the emergency situation. In the case of amonitored alarm system, authorities may not respond appropriately.

• Alarm warning devices such as sirens, bells or horns may not alert people or wake upsleepers if they are located on the other side of closed or partly open doors. If warningdevices sound on a different level of the residence from the bedrooms, then they are lesslikely to waken or alert people inside the bedrooms. Even persons who are awake may nothear the warning if the alarm is muffled from a stereo, radio, air conditioner, or otherappliance, or by passing traffic. Finally, alarm warning devices, however loud, may notwarn hearing impaired people or awaken deep sleepers.

• While smoke detectors have played a key role in reducing residential fire deaths, they maynot activate or provide early warning for a variety of reasons in as many as 35% of all fires,according to data published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Some of thereasons smoke detectors used in conjunction with this system may not work are wheresmoke cannot reach the detectors, such as in chimneys, in walls, or roofs, or on the otherside of closed doors. Smoke detectors may have been improperly installed and positioned.Smoke detectors may not sense fires that start where smoke cannot reach the detectors,such as in chimneys, in walls, or roofs, or on the other side of closed doors. Smokedetectors also may not sense a fire on another level of a residence or building. A secondfloor detector, for example, may not sense a first floor or basement fire. Moreover, smokedetectors have sensing limitations. No smoke detector can sense every kind of fire everytime. In general, detectors may not always warn about fires caused by carelessness andsafety hazards like smoking in bed, violent explosions, escaping gas, improper storage offlammable materials, overloaded electrical circuits, children playing with matches, orarson. Depending upon the nature of the fire and/or the locations of the smoke detectors,the detector, even if it operates as anticipated, may not provide sufficient warning toallow occupants to escape in time to prevent injury or death.

• This equipment, like other electrical devices, is subject to component failure. Even thoughthis equipment is designed to last as long as ten years, the electronic components couldfail at any time.
