PREFACE This document is the Installation Guide of 1354 BM-ATM application over OS-KERNEL

This edition applies to 1354 BM-ATM 7.1.4 release and NR7.3 environment (which includes OS-KERNEL 7.1.2 release, see [1]).

IMPORTANT: Since release 7.1.1, OS-KERNEL uses licensing before starting application. It is MANDATORY to have a license server with valid 1354 BM-ATM 7.1 licenses in order to run the application.

WARNING:

Starting from release 7.0.2PL2, 1354 BM-ATM application uses: • URL Corbaloc mechanism to connect to EML-IMs managed by

the 1353 NM/1350OMS-EML. • PM-UPLOADER OS-Kernel NMC to retrieve performance counters

onto the 1353 NM.

This implies: • In order to retrieve performance counters, 1354 BM instance

(Master or Client) MUST be co-hosted with a 1353NM instance (Master or Client).

• 1353 NM/1350OMS-EML instance (Master and Client) MUST be created on OS-KERNEL 7.0.5 or above to allow the URL Corbaloc mechanism.

4 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

4.1 License server configuration

WARNING: following steps are MANDATORIES.

You must configure the license server before OS-KERNEL configuration.

In this chapter we suppose there is a centralized license server on which all necessary licenses are configured. The following lines explain how to configure the workstation in order to contact the licenses server.

Get the hostname and IP address of the license server.

Edit the /etc/hosts file on your workstation :

….,root > vi /etc/hosts [Enter]

add a line : <server_ip_address> <server_hostname>

save and quit the file ( :wq )

Create a local license file:

….,root > cd /opt/poseidon/etc [Enter]

….,root > vi license.dat [Enter]

add a line: SERVER <server_hostname> <node_number > <port_number>

save and quit the file ( :wq )

<node_number> and <port_number> can be found into the license.dat file located on the license server or ask these information to the administrator of this host.

Start the license server:

….,root > /sbin/init.d/poseidon start [Enter]

You can check the server is reachable:

….,root > . /etc/Poseidon [Enter]

….,root > /opt/poseidon/bin/lmstat –a [Enter]

You must get a list of licenses.

4.2 Go Global configuration If you need Go Global, you must configure it.

Configuration is fully described into Administration Guide.

Insert the 1354BM-ATM distribution medium volume ½ into the CD driver and mount the CD-ROM with the following command:

….,root > mount –r /dev/dsk/<cdrom_device_file> /SD_CDROM [Enter]

where <cdrom_device_file> is the UNIX device file to access to the CD driver, commonly c0t0d0.

N.B. You can find this value with the command:

….,root > ioscan –fn –C disk [Enter]

Once the CD-ROM is mounted, copy the files into the local depot:

….,root > cd /alcatel/DEPOT [Enter]

….,root > cp –r /SD_CDROM/* . [Enter]

Then umount the CD-ROM:
